Yeah, iirc he actually got his shit together in a big way and unfucked his life, got his kids back and left SA
A rare success story. Few manage to survive goonism and get their lives back on track.

It’s kind of strange if you look around 2011. The successful goons got banned by the NEET Crowd. Happened again around Occupy time, because god forbid a goon with their shit together suggest drawing anime, blogging about fringe politics or doing first level tech support isn’t a good path to financial freedom.A rare success story. It couldn't be any worse than half of anything that's showed up in this forum. What kind of horror stories?
So got a question for this thread. What's the half life on the decay of something awful as a whole? I'm guessing five years at minimum

Who knows, really. Lowtax is like DarksydePhil, at the end the only thing we know about SA's financial state is that it's "really bad" according to the guy who's incidentally trying to push for more donations. Something Awful could, even in this sorry state, probably remain self sufficient for another 5+ years if it wasn't for Lowtax hanging off it like a tick.So got a question for this thread. I'd argue until Lowtax dies or gets some serious shit in his life that makes it untenable and he gets forced to sell by his wife or whomever. He'll leech it to the end and then sell it way under what he could have to some self obsessed troon or shady Asian company . Both will hope they operate the same with unpaid staff that just attract the same broken late Gen-Xers and early Millennials who never moved on from 2006. At which point it will thrive again for a few months and then bottom out hard and get sold again to another user for even less and just repeat the cycle until the demographic moves on to the great beyond or their SSDI payouts start drying up
Should we expect Something Resetful?
Hell people will just go to the remaining message boards that match what they're looking for. Nerds will go to reddit, the rest will go to one of the offsites and I bet a fair few will come here. There's a ton of those already. Whatever the LF offsite was, Something Sensitive and even Skullmund and entire corners of twitter and youtube/twitch

Personally, the way I see something awful dying off, is Lowtax being forced to give up the site and the costs of running it for the new management become high enough that it's unprofitable to keep it running for long periods of time
Oh I’m sure someone would for the user data. They wouldn’t pay much though.Lol like anyone would buy SA.

Low-T will never sell SA unless he has absolutely no other option. This is the only way Dear Richard will ever have any sort of power, and he knows it. Sure he could have been a millionaire if he'd sold at the peak, but then he wouldn't be able to ban people from SomethingAwful.com
