To me it always seemed the other way around (with a few exceptions). Once they become admins they parade through FYAD because they know they have immunity and the posters there will pretend they're funny in exchange for favors. I doubt FAU would have dared to post in FYAD without his little red star to protect him, but maybe he tried before.
 
I know Abe and Shmorky saw themselves as FYAD superstars. Nobody liked them, but then again, disrespecting or upsetting a mod or admin is bannable, so of course everyone pretended to like them. Or at least silently tolerated them.

Oh man, I never knew what ended up coming of that, if anything. I only followed the first thread or so. Between SA and SS having multiple threads, Doobie himself joining both forums, frog dogs, team frogout vs. the bad froggers, vent hoods, goons talking about making pilgrimages, etc it was such a convoluted shitshow.

And in the end none of it mattered anyway because a funeral home (I think?) bought the dog house property to bulldoze for a bigger parking lot or something.

His kickstarter from 2013 is still up if anyone wants a laugh.

I don't think this guy knows how to even make an enticing logo. Usually red and yellow colors are an often ideal choice since it emits a psychological appetizing feel to it. Sometimes the logo would have to at least make you familiar with it.

This logo though is the exact opposite to that. Green is usually reserved for an eco-friendly look, something plant related, or a sense of peace. In the context of food, it's pretty gross. Also, it's really forgettable.

Best part is, it was never even settled on what a "Frog Dog" was, or what it consisted of. Possibly a hotdog with lots of green stuff. Who knows. Looks like relish in that picture. Doobie himself even said the idea was stupid and he wasn't going to use it, he just put the picture up to humor goons and get more donations.

Meanwhile, goons were discussing having that frog sign painted on the side of the dog house like 8 feet tall, totally oblivious.

It wasn't really about the chili dogs. It was this weird lemmings mentality where goons found a way to pay for congratulations and positive attention.

People were dropping like $5-$10 at first the but project was getting so much attention that Computer Janitor #4503 dropping $50 got a lot of asspats for helping the cause. So then people started dropping $100 so they were the center of attention. Then $200. Then that one idiot dropped $500 and when his dick was sucked for a couple days over it he "Disccused it with the family and decided to skip christmas this year" to add another $500 and got even more attention for it.

It's the same concept as how they congratulated each other into paying $300,000 for Star Citizen spaceships. Buying a really expensive ship got you a lot of attention, and then goons started competing for attention leading to some of them being $10,000+ deep.

The stupidest thing about Doobie Doghouse were the moderators that started the craze with long speeches about how they would revolutionize a town in Alabama and impact thousands of lives by funding a hillbillies hot dog restaurant.

I think @Dynastia is more or less correct that we were more forgiving of faux-edgy shit couched in faux-ironic idgaf affectation when we were all teenagers. The average age of the internet's denizens is older now. It's the same reason a guy like Maddox can't maintain an audience anymore. Most of us grow out of Family Guy humor at some point too.

Photoshop Phriday was a fun highlight of my week back in college though.
