If FAU came here and showed us what it's like to be a real genuine funny man we could become a really funny forum and have a really cool funny front page with front page articles that are full of funny jokes but instead I guess we just have to keep finding out peoples names and addresses because we don't know any other way to be funny.
 
I cannot believe they are going to go through and destroy tons of threads to cover the asses of their userbase. Why even exist at this point? Just replace the SA forum software with a Kiwi IRC plugin pointing at a few different channels.

I've been on SA for over a decade. There's nothing that I posted there that I wouldn't post here in a heartbeat. It's weird to me that they're going to bat for people that share way too much. I guess there might be actual reasons for the sharing, a sense of community or whatever, but, like, are they ashamed of what they post or whatever?

That's a rhetorical question, but it's so strange that they flip out over public information. Always has been, at that. Way before kiwifarms.

This. SASS did good work driving out the cat lady Ozma-Ice Queen brigade, but I'd almost rather prefer that over the current YCS reject faggots and weak fyad retards that are in bed with the current admins. At least the cat lady brigade lacked self-awareness in their own misguided attempts for "safe space' bullshit, but you'd think the current clique would have more self-awareness since they used to have goonlulz themselves.

Anytime there's something they don't like, you get the same 'yad rejects diving in like a deranged pack of retards that individually could be ignored but then just constantly quoting each other, shitting up the place with concern trolling and eventually resorting to just spamming images when pointed out "why do you even read a SINGLE thread, how does this existence bother you?" until mods finally come in and gas the whole thing and shutting down any further attempts to remake it because fyad is really mad about it. I used to get pissed that mods didn't realize it was the same faggots doing it every fucking time and then realized mods were basically in on it for that sweet YCS/'YAD cred they desperately desire.

There used to be a Fat is Beautiful thread that mocked fat people, which is pretty low-hanging fruit but who doesn't love a good ol fat-joke that even GBS can't fuck up, and actually got goons to take a look at their life and started working out. I tried giving out advice directing them to resources and things to avoid because I support anyone working out even if they're 400 lbs and haven't touched a weight in 30 years since it will cure 99% of typical internet mental illnesses. Of course FYAD couldn't stand this and a loving dog and other YCS rejects piled in and got fat-hating threads banned. This was just one in a long string of other actually funny GBS threads like making fun of idiots climbing Everest for social media cred and dying, Shmorky, etc.

And then they retreat to their incestuous forum empty quoting each other in perpetuity and complain about GBS being unfunny.

I've mostly given up with SA for awhile now but it's funny watching the current drama unfold that they've long had coming.

For nearly twenty years Something Awful has had a hugely influential hand in the origin of memes, cliques, entire websites, and general cultural trends all over the internet. They're the origin point of so much of everything we know, at least indirectly (and directly in more than a few cases, obviously). You can probably draw a dotted line to explain the existence of the Farms/Chris trolling/everything in this community without using too many dots. I don't doubt that they have played a significant role in our current SocJus craze.

It is crazy that a group of people have legitimate claim to that much influence... and yet they would wish everyone give them respect and deference for shit orders of magnitude above what they actually deserve. Absolute bonkers. The attitude of the SA diehard old guard can basically be boiled down to a combination of "you're doing it wrong" and "we were doing it before it was cool" on a shit-ton of crack, no matter what subject you might be looking at, they believe they deserve credit/authority over it.

It's sad to see so clearly the SA of yesteryear is gone, but at the same time it's nice to have that sort of closure. But having quickly lost count of the number of times I've seen someone say Kiwi Farms is what Something Awful should/used to be, it makes me feel glad that while the infrastructure was poisoned beyond repair, the spirit was never dashed, it just found a new home. People need that spirit. It's what keeps things alive.

I think every goon who is inspired by these events to become an ex-goon should be welcome here with open arms. As for SA, it's rotten beyond any hope of redemption and no amount of damage that site suffers because of this is undeserved. Salt the fucking earth and let everyone with a lick of sense move on to greener pastures.
