All I can think is that one of the admins has something so compromising on him that they can back him down into compliance. This was HIS website and he let a bunch of limp wristed liberals bully him publicly from his ultimatums and demands to them. He's been on twitter all day acting like none of this is going on. Maybe I'm not the kind of person to run a successful internet forum but I would rather burn it all to the ground than take a public ass fucking like this and pretend nothing is wrong.

The minimum level of retaliation from me would be de-admining the trouble makers and removing DnD for a few months. What a cuckold you going to let basement cru run a train on your wife while you're at it @Lowtax? She flirts with them enough.

He should probably only be seeking advice from his family and real life friends - people whose only interest is what's best for him rather than who care disproportionately about one website out of tens of millions.

Although Lowtax says that the money doesn't matter, what other options does he really have apart from continuing SA? He's not a tech whizz. LPs have an audience but not a big enough one to bring in an income which can support both his current family and pay child support to his ex.

For years he was able to live doing something fun, but he's now 40 with limited marketable skills. If he nukes SA, then what are his options? He's not PewdiePie or notch. He didn't make enough while the fun lasted to support himself into old age.

Obviously he owes us no answers to those questions but they're far more important ones than what does or doesn't please the SA membership - because *nothing* will ever please the SA membership as a whole.

Nuking DnD would destroy GBS, but DnD needs to be reined in hard. Nuking FYAD would be wise, though, as they drive almost all of this drama.

I know this is completely unrelated to the current topic, but there are apparently a shitload of knowledgeable goons here so I thought I'd ask - what happened to fragmeister? I know he was lowtax's oldest friend on the site and he was in charge for a while, but then that changed for some reason? Mostly I just remember him for his flash videos, which were hilarious.

Well ZDR, another admin who desperately wants to eat lunch at the FYAD table, is redoing the site backend for Lowtax. Not sure if this is free work or for cheap but since Lowtax can't do it himself it definitely puts him in a bind.
 
The FYAD regs now aren't even funny any more. They're cat ladies, they just post in lower case and don't use punctuation.

Nobody knows for sure but there have been rumours there was a personal falling out. Take that with a grain of salt as most SA rumours are wrong.

The worst thing is that he's confident in doing so. He knows Lowtax can read, but he also knows that Lowtax doesn't usually bother. Short of tying Lowtax to a chair and making him read the posts out loud, you're not even going to get him to acknowledge this shit is happening because he didn't anticipate a mutiny and he has no Plan B.

Also, why on earth would you merge GBS and DnD. DnD is a forum purely about politics. Even if it wasn't the home of SJWs, a merger would end with politics dominating GBS.

One of the biggest complaints about GBS used to be "GBS RSS" - so again, making it a "current events" forum is insane. The current events aspect of it only works now because it's limited. Change its direction and the front page will be full of low effort OPs linking to buzzfeed articles.

Again, this is being proposed solely because they *know* it would destroy GBS and that's something FYAD has regarded as the holy grail of comedy for many years.

If there was anything truly incriminating on Lowtax his ex-wife would have already buried him with it. He's just scared of losing his free forum janitors. ZDR is his volunteer code monkey and he said he's gone if Lowtax follows through with his changes. Lowtax doesn't have the money to hire a competent coder to fix the place and is scared if he archives the current forums and starts over people will leave.

Thats a good thing though, Burning the thing to the ground, requiring 10 bucks for the archive but allowing a free or even cheaper registration for the new one and starting from scratch would probably be the better long term growth option

90% of QCS threads over the last few years have been FYAD concern trolling. Why people still get sucked into treating them as if they're serious proposals is beyond me.
 
That's how it is on 4chan/8chan. The meta trolling on 8chan was intense. Made Fredrick completely lose interest in the site.

Its amazing tax let himself get in this situation where an IK bent him over and got made an admin. Lowtax has some basic technical background and does nothing other than play video games and tweet. He has plenty of time to teach himself whatever langs he needs to unfuck and update SA's code.

Especially when you consider this has been his sole revenue stream for, what, nearly two decades?

They're funding custom made software but Lowtax wants to get away from PHP. I'd honestly suggest just waiting for XenForo 2 to come out and use that, but I guess he'd rather pay tens of thousands of dollars to hire a programmer to write in GoLang or whatever.

I doubt he gets much money from his announcements either. If you're asking people to donate without any sort of immediate gratification it rings hollow. Part of the reason Infinity Next got any traction with donors is because the live demo site was open and so was the codebase. You could check every single day to see what I was doing and test features live on the site. You're not going to get that if you're not writing the code yourself.

I could write out extensive ways to make SA more approachable from an outside perspective but it'd fall of deaf ears. I definitely think it's possible but it's a lot of work.
 
@Null Partner up with Lowtax and make the Awful Farms. AF is a much better acronym than SA or KF
