I didn't mean to imply that he's incompetent - just that custom code is a potential pain in the ass because the only person who understands it is the person who wrote it. Plus there'd be a longer debugging period. You don't want to recreate a situation where years down the track the uniqueness of your software becomes a liability.

I took the person's comment to mean just archiving the old forum and having people rejoin the new one with new accounts, like most free forums do when they switch software.

I know this isn't the place to put this, but somebody really needs to start a thread on "@NAFEDUDE" (https://twitter.com/NAFEDUDE). He's apparently notoriously insane and has been throwing nonstop temper tantrums on Twitter for years, threatening to sue people who make fun of him. Oh yeah and he sexually assaulted his sister and tweeted about it repeatedly, then changed his mind and claimed people are all lying about it. http://archive.is/Lk2K8

I did a search here and couldn't find any threads dedicated to him, but as you all know my brain is pretty stupid and I could've missed them. Anyway I just found out about this dude an hour ago, when he started lecturing me on gender and non-binaries and how I shouldn't let my daughter make fun of shmorky because I'm teaching her to hate trans people (?!?), then he imploded and deleted his tweets and blocked me. After he showed up, a ton of people on my timeline appeared and were all making fun of him, as he's apparently notoriously nuts.

looks like he could fit dramacow or even horrorcow profile (if abuse thing is true),
since you are the one that did research, open a thread on him in lolcows yourself.

To be perfectly fair to Lowtax, most of us on here aren't 'Verified' and don't have to worry about NAFEDUDE finding our family and murdering them, so it might be prudent to just post the thread for him. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

he is still publicly posting info about NAFEDUDE and publicly encouraging others to open a thread about him so I don't think that he is afraid, probably just lazy,
and even if someone else is to open thread about NAFEDUDE, right thing would be to credit @Lowtax for the info in OP.

I've been on SA since 2001 so it was entirely direct observation and interaction with you that led me to this conclusion.

Now that polonium mentions it, back when I used to lurk, I did notice the banhammer coming down on people who would taunt Lowtax with something 'lazy', usually with the ban reason something along the lines of: 'If you're going to make fun of me at least try to make it entertaining.' (Paraphrasing here.) I mean, I understood the mentality, but it still seems weird to hold people to a higher standard when insulting YOU rather than each other.

But I guess that's because of the rules for 'modsass', which, ironically, I think only breeds more contempt in the long run. If a mod is being disrespected by a large number of users there's probably a good reason for it.
