The database is perfectly fine and stable. We dumped all our hardware and use purely cloud services which can scale to whatever they need to scale to. Granted we'll have to convert the db first, but migrating all posts and threads won't be a problem at all (besides the downtime it will take to transfer).

If you play it right, you could have some fun with this. I'd say make a back up, then copy that over, then keep the forums open as a single giant forum with absolute chaos, no mods, admins, etc. Then when the transfer to the new db is complete, delete the entire goddam thing and it will be something Goons argue and praise about for years

Still haven't seen any proof about the "kiddy fucker" theory coming from us.

Does spamming negative ratings make you feel better?

Because if you think we are gonna lose our shit over some bad ratings, you're a bigger whiny bitch than you've accused goons of being.

And seriously, your site has highlighted some actual lolcows on SA and have made a few very good points about how SA has gone to pot due to poor stewardship, so why don't you focus on the few good arguments you can bring to the table about what is actually important instead of obsessing over retarded stuff that makes you shit your pants in rage?

Heh, that's what we did last time we migrated the database. I forget what we dubbed the event, something like "Hellzone" and after we copied over the database and begun to migrate it, we let everybody post anything anywhere on the forums (since the new db obviously wouldn't be using that copy of it). It was pretty fun and crazy, with the exception of the typical dumb shit like folks just spamming the generic "NIGGER HITLER FAGGOT" garbage repeatedly (which I guess is a hilarious thing to write because it's so edgy and hasn't been done before).

No offense, but logic doesn't work with those people. You can attempt to be rational with them but they have some inability to accept anything that doesn't fit into their narrow worldview, and all the goofy shit they do is justified to them in some way.
And rather than no admins, for the transition period make @Dynastia the sole admin
Hell, I'll make all the mods here mods on SA when it happens.

You'll always get those types, though. But for the most part it'll be cathartic for a lot of posters, myself included, to just tell the idiots who hide behind the mods/admins/subforum specific rules to just fuck off and unload on them a little bit.

Also, as a nice thing to say to you, I noticed the admins loosened up a good amount this past weekend , which is cool considering what you had replied to me earlier with. That honestly is pretty cool.

@Lowtax what was the point of those ban hammer weeks? Just a donation drive for SA to get re-regs? Those ban hammer things were instead of getting a normal probation for a bad post, you'd get a ban and have to re-reg.

As a current goon I do sometimes enjoy Something Sensitive. When you read one too many "you know what would be super funny guys, if God-Emperor Trump gassed all the googles and yahoos" post your eyes start to glaze over, though.

Also true, when you realize that a lot of the ironic racism is just wholesale retard in a trailer bigotry and not actually tongue in cheek humor

Just out of curiosity, what caused you to form that opinion of me? Did you read something I wrote that suggested that, or was it one of those things where you read somebody saying about me? It's interesting to determine how often opinions are formed of people without ever having personally interacted with them (assuming that's the case; if I wrote or did something and brought it on myself, then that's my bad).
I'm not the guy you were asking but there are two particular instances I remember from back in the day. The first was your dislike of people jokingly comparing you to Hitler (this would be like 2003/2004ish) and the second was the famous "don't click my links" mangosteen post. People probably wouldn't even remember that thread if didn't react so poorly to those who made fun of it.

Lowtax, is there a reason you don't just archive the entire forum and make a new one?

As I understand a lot of your webmaster woes come from the horrible code you're having to use.
Oh man, that would be a nightmare trying to transfer over avatars and accounts. Remember, people paid for almost all of that stuff.

I can't even tell if you're being sarcastic or not. The primary issue wouldn't be transferring over accounts, it's in finding a forum that can scale and support the modifications we've made to vB. Avatars and accounts are easy to migrate.

in addition to a coder who claims he can write an entire forum from scratch (which sounds too good to be true, but so far he's made some very impressive stuff in just a couple days).

That sounds like a recipe for Radium II events down the track.

Haha yeah, that's what I thought at first. But I checked on the guy and he's legit; he is the lead engineer for one of those huge fantasy football sites that advertise nonstop, he's been on the forums since early 2000s, and he gets paid to speak at tech conferences. I'm obviously not just going to immediately hand over the keys to him, but I'm letting him code a mockup so ZDR and I can see how he codes and if it will work.
