Those should be banned because they do absolutely nothing to stop the spread of disease. It's not even better than nothing, it's worse than nothing. At least if there's a mask mandate at all. If there isn't they can go around looking like absolutely paranoid freaks if they want. Most people will cut them the slack of assuming they're legitimately immunocompromised, or at least mentally challenged in some way.

I admit I wore one of these during the first week or so of the panic as a joke at work. It was funny until I saw people unironically wearing these and full fucking bio hazard face masks.

I'm curious as to how that's true. I've used P100's for mold remediation, and are rated by NIOSH to block 99.97% of organic particles. Obviously you look retarded, but as far as I know, actual P100's are useful, whereas the cloth piece of shit I wore for work for a year isn't.

Well, yeah, it protects you, but it doesn't give a fuck if you spew viruses all over everyone else. It's meant to stop environmental hazards, not really spreading pathogens, and the exhalation valves often are completely unprotected. Whenever I see people wearing these masks, they also obviously have no clue how to use them, so even the ones with the exhalation valve covered, it's still barely going to be worth shit.
The paper/cloth masks were intended just to stop people coughing and sneezing and they work fine for particles like that.

95% of the goons posting their masks and trumpetting about their SICK COVID RIGS are full of shit.
