Honestly, the SA probably went downhill along with with the climate of your average university. SA was predominately used by college kids and your average college is basically a hotbed of liberal censorship. Add in the fact that the only people who care enough to work for free are likely the arts majors who are unemployed post college and you get today's SA. If anything lowtax is losing money because of how easy it is to make your own hugbox elsewhere.

Mods will often couch their petty bullshit and grudge deletions/bans/gases/probes in feefee language like "so tired of ____ posts" or "depressing and gross thread topic" or whatever because it absolves them of having to own their grudges and if you question why such-and-such thread was deleted or so-and-so banned, it turns into a personal attack on the mod, so you get shit on by their pets before eating a ban yourself.
 
Noticed there is a slenderman movie out now. For those that do not know.. Slenderman was a creation of SA user Victor Surge. Going to make millions of dollars in theatres...maybe some of that money should go back to the forums?

Oh Wait of course lowtax/SA banned him lol. Just another example of my theory above.

That's the story of lowtax's life. If you hear him talk about people who made it big after SA like Mega 64, he always negs them or brings up embarrassing stuff they used to do. Could be jealousy.

I said this before but how wasn't channel awesome raking in mid 6 figures in its heyday just hosting content for people? Imagine how much money lowtax would be swimming in if he did something similar, but for people like yogscast, total biscuit, mega 64, etc instead of doing nothing.
 
Goons harass anyone remotely successful off the forum. Deadmau5 got tired of taking everyone's shit and left (and that was before he became a big deal), Neil Cicirega got hounded out and banned, there was some famous (female) comics artist who got creeped on and ran within days of registering. TotalBiscuit also got run off the forum, though that was more through his own idiocy and one notoriously stupid post that nobody let him ever forget. The only other reasonably well-known person that I'm aware of who still posts is Josh Sawyer, the writer behind Fallout New Vegas and others (posts as "Rope Kid"), but I've no idea why he puts up with the volume of abuse he gets there from neckbeards who don't like his games. Dude has the patience of a saint.

It's telling that the only e-celeb who lasted any length of time was Derek Smart - for a "successful" person he's a pretty miserable failure, so I guess goons were more comfortable around someone who was just as big a dumpster fire as they were.

SA has become the house forum for bitter, unemployed losers with a crab-bucket mentality who are jealous of anyone who makes anything of themselves. This is particularly the case with the mod staff, who, as pointed out earlier, only have the time to spend moderating the place because they have nothing happening in their lives.

Kate Beaton from Hark a Vagrant? If so, I don't think she even made it a day before thirsty goons drove her off. She's got her own issues, though.

I haven't checked on her recently, but she's sort of jumped on the SJW train, unironically referring to Son of Baldwin's "Cyborg is symbolic of the castration of all black men, everywhere, even though Robocop has the same premise and happens to a white guy" article as good media, etc.

This is a lie, an urban legend goons tell themselves so they can keep trying to convince themselves that they actually matter, and that men being able to talk freely about women is why SA is now awful and everyone has left.
But its completely false.

The artist is Kate Beaton. She was not "creeped off" the forums, she simply felt she'd engaged enough with people and left. She barely even remembers.

The reason we know this is Kate posted a message (I can't remember if it was Reddit, Tumblr, or twitter) telling SA goons to stop coming upto her and apologizing. She didn't feel creeped out, she had been bought the account as a gift from a fan and given a link to a thread about her/her work, went to check it out, talked to some people in a thread about her work, and then left because she didn't feel a need to stick around.
She thought the constant apologizing was a little creepy.

She did just sort of stop posting fairly suddenly in that thread, but its been debunked as she just didn't feel like there was anything left to say, and she didn't feel a need to stick around an old forum.
No one likes to bring that up, because it is a harsh reminder that the forums don't actually matter anymore, if they ever did.
Just like how no one talks about Goonswarm anymore since they've gotten wrecked in Eve.

You're right about KB drinking the SJW Kool-aid though. I don't think she'd ever not been on board the SJW train, but got progressively less and less subtle about it. But she's a snow nigger, so what do you expect?

There was also Gail Simone, who goons shit on because she signed a post. They also tried to get her to insert SA references into a comic and she said no. They were fairly cringy about it, I also think some mod thought it would be a comedy zinger to ban her for the post signing or something, I recall Gail coming to SASS to dunk on the goons as well. I want to say someone there called her fat but I can't remember, it's been a long time
 
Small-time actor Brandon Hardesty was a goon. He made an ask/tell thread about his role in American Pie: Book of Love while he was filming.

Whole thread was just goons bugging him trying to get him to wear an SA grenade or happycat shirt in the film and insisting he should alter his lines to include a "stairs" reference.

I felt bad for the guy. I don't think he stuck around long.

Imagine in an alternate universe..where lowtax didnt ban everybody who spoke ill of leftist ideology and creativity and lulz multiplied exponentionally growing a massive vibrant community..Where people went to somethingawful before they went to MSN....instead of doom house, we got slenderman. Now imagine lowtax controlling a massive internet empire as large as yahoo reaping hundreds of millions a year on subscriptions, ads, millions of clicks on game reviews, and spinoff sites.

This timeline could of happened if lowtax wasnt stupid but he is. But now instead we mock and milk for lols a forum that is filled with trannies,SJWs, and poz mods on a death spiral to zero
