Yeah. This website came years after the original SA thread (For some reason I'm thinking around 2003, but I don't remember). He sold some really dry jerky with no seasoning as animal treats- my dog liked it.

Again, the latest batch I purchased would be the last. It was awful- dry and lacking flavor. It's like someone took aged jerky and rolled it through some old bay or something. It was salty and lacking any flavor other than the spice.

When you're comparing something to a Saturday morning cartoon, it's inherently going to sound like condescending damnation.
Also it's funny to bring up Avatar ending before it gets into the politics, because when it did try to tackle it with Korra, it BOMBED.

Latest thing is there was an AI art thread and an AI ChatGPT thread. There also is a still active AI discussion thread.

Seth Pecksniff closed the AI Discussion thread for some reason. (It was re-opened sometime later on.) The general consensus in the AI Discussion thread is AI anything is worse than hitler. (There's good reason for that actually given the avalanche of slop that is getting dumped on the web; I've heard that more than 50% of content on clear-net is most likely AI generated now.)

So, people from the discussion thread took the "discussion" over to the AI art thread. There, they shit on the thread and image spammed it. That thread consisted of goons who like AI and actually posted AI art that they liked to "create", as well as goons posting slop videos from YouTube to either laugh at or because they liked it.

This then caused Seth Pecksniff to start probing the AI Discussion thread shitters, but when their probation ended they went back at it.

Some of the thread regulars tried to engage the thread shitters in a more civil discussion, and tried to make arguments defending the use of AI in some way (some stronger than others). This then prompted the thread shitters to search these users' previous posts, and that turned into a witch hunt for permban'd re-reges, people posting AI fetish slop, and people defending the use of AI in general. This resulted in at least three regular users getting permbanned. (There are probably more that I missed.)

There was also a survey thread asking if AI should be allowed in GBS (which pretty much means the entire site), and the vote was 18 saying AI should be allowed, 343 saying it should be banned, and 121 saying AI should be allowed "but it should be legal to troll posters of it".

So I guess now AI is banned and talking about it in any way that doesn't disparage it in the discussion thread is risking ban/probation.

Oh, also, this also caused Seth Pecksniff to be de-modded.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about AI, honestly I'm not sure what to think or how to react, it seems to change every day. I do know that I'd rather engage with people instead of bots.

I had to game this out while coming up for UGC rules for something. I didn't like the idea of a ban for the same reason, but good uses of AI shouldn't be super detectable anyway, so a rule against AI content just means "AI content has to be good enough to pass", filtering out the retards too stupid to make good AI content and the soulless jeets who can't pass off their own AI garbage as human bc they are not ensouled and can't distinguish human prose from slop.

LLM image generation can be funny but it's so low effort it crowds out other content due to sheer volume and many unfunny copycats. seems like it would be best to let ppl share creative images but cabin it to a single thread so people are forced to create content in other discusson.

I was in a work chat and there was a big work Happening, and there were retards (often trannies) posting retarded ChatGPT fanfiction and shitting up the chat.
I don't give a fuck you told an LLM to make a story about the CEO as Luke Skywalker, it is utterly retarded dreck and not remotely funny. The adults are talking.

I have a non-work thing I do with some people and there is a guy who SHOULD know better who went down the LLM navel gazing hole because he would use his self-hosted LLM to ask for recipes and it would dream up a whole asside about its family down in lousiana and he just thought this was amazing.
I pointed out to him that every fucking online recipe includes an 8-page biographical essay about their Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, School-aged Kids, and sometimes husbands (if grilling is involved), its a fucking meme, and that's why when you ask it for a recipe it talks about its family. I pointed out if he were to ask his AI to expand on "its family" it will not be able to do so, or at least do so consistently especially if you inject lies or say its wrong about things, because there is no "understanding". Its just hallucinating.

That said I've seen some really great and hilarious uses of AI. North Korean Star Wars, the guy who has AI turn Marvel Movies into Soviet Propaganda, people on KF will come up with some pretty good images. But then you'll have one person who has skill and put in some time and effort getting the prompt to get AI to spit out a solid result and get possitive reactions, then you'll have two dozen other followers post their own low-effort retarded aping.

If it was still 2005 I think SA could have been fine with the "You can troll people who post AI" as it would have been self-policing. But not in gay modern hugbox SA.

It also just doesn't help that people are lemmings. I'm a musician. I'm not a professional, it's not how I make money; but I can perform, write and read music, understand how to write and structure a song, improvise, etc, etc. I've made AI music for myself, no one else. Granted, I uploaded it to a streaming site solely for my convenience to have it accessible whenever I want. It frustrates me that anyone I know that is not a musician has a shit take on this that they think I need to hear.

I don't understand when everyone in the country decided that they have to have an opinion on something even when the person they're talking to knows more than them? I'm in my own corner having a blast and people get upset. But hey, tonnes of dudes go to concerts all the time and just stand there with their arms crossed and refuse to clap so stay miserable I guess.

Not strictly music, but "people who know more than you" in every field have demonstrated a willingness to lie for money/other personal gain - so there's a massive trust gap.
 
I didnt like seth or the mods, because I would reach out to mods and admins seeking "clarification" about rules and why I would get probations.

The faggots would never say "because of wrong think" or "because fuck you thats why" nope.

They need to have better rules about internet dective shit, because having people stalk your post history to pull that shit is weird.

Also why did seth get taken out? the mods/admins like AI?

I assume its a case of the deep trans state telling their pet mod to "shut it down" and once one thread was closed they had to keep going.
 
My "Watch" on this thread keeps breaking, either removing it entirely or just not notifying me there is discussion and i'm convinced this is the SA Code Curse seeping into the thread. Very nostalgic.
