Supposed to represent a warrior. Mauri/Samoan Culture. Those supposed to be earned. A right of passage but now these days as long as you have the money you can get one too to feel....

That's simply not true.

KF does one thing better than SA did, autistic archival records in order to make fun of freaks. However, SA was filled with different ecosystems that didn't even interact in it's heydays. If you were a fan of tv show, there was liveposting going on with dozens of people when it comes to shows like 24 or LOST and discussions in a way that you couldn't find anywhere on the internet. If you were into footballs, you had great threads per team with tons of people with useful content. You had the videogames section that launched the whole Let's Plays shit, the anime board that launched 4Chan, etc... Even Reddit's 'AMA' section can basically be traced back to SA. The place was fucking huge, and every board had developed it's own culture to the point where you had people who never wandered out of them. Shit, some threads were big enough they had their own separate culture. The place was massive and genuinely attracted tons of professionals and others had shit to contribute in their field.

SA is a shell of it's old self, it wouldn't be possible to recreate something like this today, but let's not pretend that when it was great, it wasn't the greatest space online to talk about shit with like minded people. Until the cat ladies took over and started to purge people for the crime of wrongthink, instead of the real crime of being unfunny.

There's a reason it spun so many offshoot boards to complain about it's moderation, or that this thread has reached 1500 pages, and a separate Lowtax thread has 800.

Shit, KF wouldn't exist if SA didn't turn Chris Chan into a thing in the first place.


This place is great at what it does, one of the few bastions left of free speech, but let's not go and make retarded comparisons between things that are entirely different.
