... there were literally video game movies made in the early 90s, including two that made it over $100m worldwide. Video games were mainstream ever since fucking arcades were a thing.

Millenials are fucking retarded. History existed before you.

Apparently you don't know what the word "mainstream" means.
Playstation 1 and Gameboy both moved over 100 million units each in the 1990s. The best selling album of all time, Thriller, sold around 50 million copies. I think it's fair to say videogames were as mainstream as anything in the 1990s. Anyone claiming videogames weren't popular in the 1990s is retarded and didn't live through the Pokemon craze. Shit was as big as Ninja Turtles in the late 80s.

... I don't disagree with you about Deus Ex not being mainstream, most people wouldn't know what the fuck that was, just about videogames not being mainstream.

Forget about the 90s, arcades were fucking huge during the 70s and 80s.

The Space Invaders Tournament held by Atari in 1980 was the first video game competition and attracted more than 10,000 participants, establishing video gaming as a mainstream hobby.[94] By 1980, 86% of the 13–20 population in the United States had played arcade video games,[95] and by 1981, there were more than 35 million gamers visiting video game arcades in the United States.[96]

Fucking millenials.

I'll cede the point regarding consoles, but I'd like to point out that Thriller's album sales don't come close to doing justice on how many people actually heard the songs on it, because they don't take into account radio and TV airtime among other things.

Deus Ex grossed like 5 million dollars the year it came out.

The top grossing movie that same year made a quarter billion dollars.

Deus Ex was not mainstream in 2000. PC Gaming was not mainstream in 2000. Now shut the fuck up.

ET the video barely sold any copies ergo I shit myself

Fucking retard.

There were tons of pc games that were selling over a million copies all the way back into the 80s. Not mainstream? The fucking SIMS came out in 2000. 11 million copies alone.

I swear you are legit retarded or 15.

And game sales don't take rentals or playing at a friends house into account. Most people rented far more games than they ever owned during this timeframe.

*Edit* Like bruh, I started high school in the late 90s. Every male under 25 played at least some videogames. If they didn't own them they played Goldeneye or Twisted Metal at a friend's house or something.

Very few people could afford to own more than a couple of games, that's why blockbusters and shit made tons of money off of video game consoles and kids would fight each others to rent the one copy of the game everyone wanted to play.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read on the farms.

Literally no better than redditors bringing up Harry Potter every ten seconds, except you’ve added some retarded hipster spin to it.
There's a difference between making a reference to pop culture media once in a while and making it your go-to example for everything in life. This guy wasn't doing the latter.
If you hear somebody went to a peaceful protest to assault the protesters and then shot them when they fought back, and you think they deserved it, you're a piece of shit. Doesn't matter if it's antivaxxers, antifa, or fucking Westboro Baptist
Well yeah. Problem is these are the kind of people who view peacefully protesting as violence when it's a message they disagree with and thus rationalize it as a defensive act to do just what you described.

This guy will probably go through whatever crap he will in the legal system over this and come out of it thinking he did nothing wrong.

C-SPAM shooty roundup. Not all that much there, as once a circle jerk starts, everyone needs to cum.

Lor's murder posting got 6 hours from Tiler Kiwi (literal who?) with the following
Making a pew pew sound as I do this so I feel real badass. User loses posting privileges for 6 hours.

"Jesus you guys, why the fuck do these morons keep getting us visited by the guys in dark suits? What could we possibly do to keep these scrawny nerds from trying to kill people in real life? We're giving them wrist slaps, what else can we possibly do? Anyway, time to perma some guy for using the R-word and issue a dozen bans in games for saying they don't think everyone in a videogame needs to be a tranny every time. Some shit is simply beyond the pale. Shooting people is very whatever, but on Trans-issues, silence is violence."

I want to believe that Lowtax is still in the Government rolladex as the "Something Awful Guy", and that for the next five years whenever goons fuck up in a minecraft sort of way Lowtax gets woken from his pill nap and has to explain to a government agent that its not him anymore, he got cucked off his own project due to a series of poor life choices that culminated in an incident with sweaty toes, and you need to call this other loser.

Yeah, in Deus Ex, the "grey death" had the "Ambrosia vaccine" (which I think only reduced symptoms, didn't actually cause immunity), which everyone from the urban poor to senators, were desperate to get. Like COVID, it was either outright stated or heavily implied--I can't remember which--that it was indeed a manufactured virus.
I, too, get my current affairs knowledge from videogames. It's fun to derail threads.
