Non-science majors do have to take science courses. I know because I had to take science courses as a Sociology undergrad (and I enjoyed them, btw). Nearly all colleges require a balanced core curriculum in an attempt to give students a balanced education.
I'll bet you $5 that this person is also bitches about how STEM majors have to take non-STEM courses. I've met STEM majors who bitch about having to take writing/English classes because they think they're above it. They're also usually incapable of writing a decent paper even if their life depended on it. I've proofread/edited papers from STEM majors that are downright embarrassing.
