So if I beat up a vegan that pushes their agenda around everyone and tells us how evil meat eaters are and force them to eat an entire Korean Barbecue at a young age, that will make him less of an arrogant asshole? I don't think so. If anything, it kind of gives them more of a reason to shit on the opposing viewpoint.

Don't take the "beat and shove into lockers" too seriously. But say, if a kid starts calling his classmates evil bloodmouths, they are just going to say "lol ur such a fagget" and he is going to realize that pushing his agenda into others isn't going to get him much aside being mocked.

I'd personally agree that they should learn to get off this shit at a young age by facing the consequences if it weren't for one thing. Nowadays, people are fed this idea that they're special just for who they are. I just can't see kids changing like that nowadays just from being called a "faggot", especially when they have such liberal parents. Instead, the parents will go on about how awful the school is because one shithead messed with their snowflake.

I noticed a fair amount of Smart Guys are around my age, like, 20-something. It might've worked on them if their parents didn't shelter them so much, such a shame.

I feel legit sad for these guys because they will never know why they are acting like dicks, and such, they won't be able to solve the problem.

Only if you let the kids be able to fight back. Public schools, usually the bullies are too difficult to deal with so if anyone ends up punished, it's the bullied kids, where fighting back is considered unacceptable and you're supposed to apparently just take the beating like a champ.

This is actually destructive to the kids, because if you tell someone they're not allowed to defend themselves, you're telling them they're worthless.

I think smartguyitis comes from parents telling their kids how absolutely great they are at everything and then the kids having to deal with the fact that they aren't.

Surprisingly many folks, e.g. the Tumblr crowd gravitates toward INFP/INFJ, which are MBTIs known as being sort of the "misunderstood creative folks lost in their dreams who are fierce warriors for social causes and helping people" signs. Which is a generous description of socially-weird, confrontational SJW "artists" if I've ever heard one. The irony is that INFP/INFJ are supposedly among the rarest MBTIs, too, but they seem to be everywhere.

I don't think it'll teach them anything (especially since a lot of people start acting like this as they age). If anything I think it would probably make them think more highly of themselves. The self proclaimed genius guys are extremely arrogant and if they were bullied it would probably just inflate their ego by making them think that people are just jealous of their intellect and make them think that they're misunderstood geniuses.

I kind of doubt it, since most kids get bullied because they act like autistic mongrels, and the only way out of the loop is realizing that maybe people don't like them interrumping onto their convos to correct a small detail, while they act like smugs assholes.

The only way they could get worse is if their parents actively stroke their egos, you know the drill "Oh my little genius is being mocked, sure thing darling, let's homeschool you/demand your classmates to tolerate your shit"

Your early 20s are a time when you think you know everything, this natural for most anyone. Males in particular seem to take this phase of life pretty obnoxiously. Most people seem to get it beaten out them by the Real World before they hit 24. The ones who don't become lolcows.
