From what I understand, IQ is not really a number that shows how "smart" a person is; rather, it is indicative of their capacity to learn.

Yeah. It's correlated to intelligence but it isn't directly connected to it. It presents you with a lot of logic puzzles and just judges you based on your ability to solve them or how quickly you can solve them. If you think an IQ test is indicative of whether or not you should respect a person, however, you're most likely an idiot on top of being a bad person in general. From what I understand, IQ is not really a number that shows how "smart" a person is; rather, it is indicative of their capacity to learn.
Also I'm loving the typos in a lot of these images. These people will, in the same sentence, espouse their intellectualism while making a really obvious mistake that's easily noticed and corrected. I'm not perfect either, but I don't go around with a god complex based entirely off of my precious IQ points.
The alt right?
- Thesaurus abuse
- Pseudo-intellectualism
- Bad philosophy

My favorite quote from such a person: “I disagree with your use of the word ‘dynamite’. I would have said ‘trinitrotoluine’.”View attachment 376869
"The definition of genius is taking the complex and making it simple." ~ Albert Einstein
I fucking hate tools like this who abuse the thesaurus in an effort to seem "smart." The purpose of language is communication. Being able to communicate your thoughts effectively is far more important than vomiting out a bunch of long, "complicated" words. Also, synonyms don’t actually mean the exact same thing as the original word, so his "large vocabulary" sentence doesn't make sense.
As someone who actually skipped multiple early grades as a kid, and even had the opportunity to skip one more (My mom insisted against teacher's advice that I don't skip too much, so I can learn to socialize), I think those people are overcompensating assholes.View attachment 376869

The best part about this isn't just Neil himself. It's how this crowd will lap up anything as long as there's a picture of his face next to it.Now that this thread has gotten rolling, it's time to introduce the patron saint of Smart Guys: Neil deGrasse Tyson. To be fair, he's an astrophysicist so he is actually smart, but he's also a complete tool.

Although the quote naturally applies to his fanbase flawlessly. The best part about this isn't just Neil himself. It's how this crowd will lap up anything as long as there's a picture of his face next to it.

This one apparently got passed around a few years ago and it's a complete fabrication. I think there was another one with a Hitler quote, but I can't find it right now.

And he was being dead fucking serious.
I have yet to see one of these IQ bandits who bring up logic actually have the first clue what logic does, yet they do it a lot. Star Trek is not where you go to learn about logic...
