Give a bump update since Feb. The game has sold like hotcakes due to Markplier starting a playthrough of it back in late June.

How well has it sold? Well, last time I checked pre-series it had sold 250k - 500k according to Steamspy, quite decent for an indy VN. Since the series it's had an all time player peak of 1,500, more than on launch.

Steamspy says now it's sold between 500k - 1M copies.

There's a physical edition coming out for consoles.

And the dev says to pirate the game if you can't afford the $15 dollar price tag.

Which leads into a thought on this that I've had for awhile. Slay the Princess is insanely popular and their other game, Scarlett Hollow isn't. Mark played this one and not the other one. Slay the Princess is twisted horror love story and Scarlett Hollow has black people in Victorian times with gay romances.
If you take a look at the male developer of this couple, he goes by he/they pronouns.
My observation is I believe Princess is popular and reaches a larger crowd because it doesn't have progressive themes in it. When was the last time you saw a progressive leaning developer not put in progressive themes like a gay romance or a trans flag?

To me, Slay the Princess is a unicorn. A rare product that can appeal to anyone that comes from a progressive developer couple. I can't remember the last time that happened. It goes to show if they restrain themselves from preaching, people will buy something like this.

Pristine cut should be out soon, they said in a newsletter they've finished the main work on it last month so I guess it's just up to the publisher now.

Pristine Cut out Oct 24

The humor and the VAs are easily the worst part and there's no comparison. I've never read a visual novel that would actively benefit this hard from having no voice acting or jokes. It's some reddit-level shit.

Other than that I liked it a bunch.
