Sunscreen. Maybe something to exfoliate, either chemically or physically (i.e. a face scrub, or washcloth)? Does your skin just look dull or what?

Doesn't look dull, but I kinda feel like COVID's made me a bit complacent with how I carry myself. Why would I bother pulling out all the stops if I'm not going getting hours at work or if I'm not able to actively go out with friends? I wanna get back into a 'routine' of sorts and I figure I have enough cash at the moment to 'invest' in something that's a step up from basic lotion, aftershave, and lip balm.

On the subjects of facial peels/washes, any good stuff you'd recommend? I've got more appropriate sunscreen than I'd care to admit because I thought I'd be going out more around this time.

I feel ya there. I'm gonna have to replace some old makeup pretty soon, and I had barely used it!

What skin problems would you want to address with peels? What kind of skin do you have- normal, dry, combination, etc.

I've got dry skin that thankfully hasn't gotten ashy or flaky. As for peels, I've been dealing with stubborn blackheads ever since I was in high school. Granted, I haven't had acne problems since I graduated but it's still kinda annoying to deal with blackheads that no amount of salicylic acid/benzoyl peroxide creams can deal with effectively.

Gyals, this may be the wrong spot but I kinda feel it's more skincare than clothes/makeup.

Any of you have a preferred Biotin supplement? I think a stress/weight loss combo has lead to a bit of thinning that I haven't had before. I am bleached through the ends as well which I know doesn't help. Or I'm just getting old.

But I figure I should do something beyond the fish oil I take and everyone says Biotin is a miracle worker. Help your Salad friend. Who has the hot tip? Has it worked for any of you? x

ETA: OR is Nutrafol the way to go?
Biotin gives me super deep, super gross, super painful cystic acne. Even if I drink some kind of smoothie with added biotin. It sucks because my hair and nails are garbage :(

What BHA products specifically have you tried?

well, maybe. I am white. waxing or threading is for actual hair. I have fuzz which would be fine but it's basically translucent like glass because I am blonde. makeup doesn't reach my skin properly and in bright sunlight it's noticeable. I am not nairing and shaving is a 3 second thing in the shower once a week. I later realized it was a great exfoliate

I take biotin daily and have also dealt with hormonal acne, but for me biotin doesn’t cause a breakout, so YMMV. Honestly it hasn’t done much for my hair. Skin and nails? Sure, but not hair.

You could try rogane 5%— foam, not serum. The foam is made without alcohol so it doesn't dry out the scalp. Men or women’s formula, it doesn’t matter.

I had a serious bout of pneumonia a while back and had a bit of hair loss with it. I used the 5% foam and it worked, but you have to be consistent with the application.

For the people experiencing mask breakouts, also consider how clean your mask is, the material it’s made from, and the type of detergent you’re using to wash it. All of those things could lead to or exacerbate a breakout. Natural fibers (cotton, linen) are going to breathe better than a synthetic.

If you’re already broken out, that bacteria is also going to be on your mask, so putting on the same mask unwashed the next day is just adding to the problem.

Dandelion tea is really good for clearing up breakouts especially if theres a lot of congestion under the skin. Worked better for me than medication for acne.

I’m not very knowledgeable about skincare but I hope this is a good place to ask! :)

Background info: I’m currently on isotretinoin, as I have oily skin. It’s helped and all my blood tests come out within the normal range, so I don’t believe my problem is related to it, though I see a dermatologist monthly and will be chatting to her about this.

I picked up some micellar water a few days ago. I’ve been using it once in the morning and once before bed, and it coincided with an odd, itchy pink rash around my mouth, very red lips, and a rash on my forehead. I assumed it was an unrelated allergy (I’m very sensitive), but has anyone had a similar reaction to micellar water? I’ve dropped it for now but it hasn’t been long enough to tell. If so, what alternatives did you use?

What brand did you use?

It’s L’Óreal Paris. I think the only other option in my local shop was a Garnier one, but a quick Google gave me some horror stories about it. :(
i suggest the Simple brands

L'Oreal's is often said to be greasy. Might as well get one of those little bottles of the Garnier water though and test it out, many people love it-- we all have different reactions!

Still fighting to get over a chemical reaction I had to something in my work clothes. It’s been nearly 3 weeks. A 9 day Prednisone regime didn’t work, so now I’m on a 21 day regime.

Upside: the livid, bumpy itchy sores now just look like I got in a fight with a bunsen burner. Dark, flat spots all over my arms that look like burns.

Downside: As they dry out my skin gets itchy from the dry skin, making me want to scratch new welts.

So I’m slathering the fuck out of the Cetaphil body butter on my arms.

when you have a thought randomly about talking about skincare about the farms earlier today and coincidentally the thread pops up on whats new.

Well with that out of the way might as well.

I absolutely love this mint leaf shampoo I got from my barber, its unironically the best thing for my entire head, ache creams didn't work but this stuff did. Love it.

I don’t do anything and my skin is fine? That’s what I don’t understand anyway. All I really do is hunt down white/black heads and use a bar of soap in the shower.
How wrong am I?
All skincare is unique my friend, not everything works for everyone. If a bar of soap and a good scrub is all you need more power to ya. I'd say you're lucky in that aspect.

Prednisone, do you happen to have eczema as well? Has your doctor had you try any steroids like Desonide or Triamcinolone?

Last few years I’ve gotten tiny bumps between my fingers if I don’t moisturize enough in the winter, but these were big flare ups that initially started where I had small, scabbed over scrapes from doing some lawn work when I wore a freshly laundered work coat. And then kept popping up for several days before I broke down and went to an Urgent Care.

I used some Triamcinolone I got from my mother, but I don’t know if it helped or not. At the end of the first 3 days of 3 pills of pred it was starting to calm down, then spiraled back up after I dropped to 2. Now it’s calmed down a lot and I have one more day of 3 pills (out of 7 days) before I drop back to 2 pills for 7 days.

Fingers crossed that it’s not going to spiral up again.

I just want one night of sleep without waking up itching.

It’s like whatever started this shit just cranked all of my skin up to 11, as I ended up scratching welts onto my upper legs/back/and belly, but that I blame on my lack of self control. On my hands and arms I would wake up and find weird pea sized fluid filled bumps, on back/legs/belly there would be no visible rash until I scratched at it.
