Four days post microneedling and I'm pretty pleased with the results. I'd say it's a small but noticeable difference in the depth of my acne scars, and mostly my skin just looks generally much fresher and nicer. 9/10 would recommend minus the shiner I had for a couple days.

Now combine it with tretinoin. Your skin will look amazing.

Start with a tiny dose of low concentration and work up to the full dose, though, or your skin will fall off.

I am once again asking for your advice because I went into the store to look at skincare and just got overwhelmed by it.
I am middle aged. Very very pale skin, Irish complexion , slightly freckly, no real wrinkles yet (hurrah!) but some sagging, and signs of age (just a loss of that nice plump look young skin has.) skin is neither dry nor very greasy, no acne. Moderately sensitive, nothing terrible. What I’m noticing is just a kind of ‘hollowing out’ I suppose - menopause saw me lose weight and muscle and I feel kinda gaunt and thinned out. Like you can see the darker substructure below the skin? The skin isn’t darker but it’s kind of see through (I’m making myself sound like Mum-Raa here and it’s not that dramatic at all…) I’m trying to lift weights again and eat more protein and collagen and vit c to sort stuff from the inside but I’m up for some Products.

I currently just use eucerin cleanser which I like, and a cerave moisturiser (recommended from here, thanks!) which I like too, but is there anything I can use for just brightening up and thickening / plumping the skin up a bit? I’m thinking maybe retinol or hyaluronic acid, but I have no idea where to start and know that whacking full strength retinol on is probably a bad call.
Local store sells The Ordinary, which from my label reading seems to have an Ok ingredient list, Lumene, Dr. jart (expensive as) and a few others. Korres as well.
Advice if you’d be so kind! UK or European availability required, preferably not insane expensive

My mum in her early 60s swears by L'oreal paris revitalift plumping skin care range. She looks great for her age (no wrinkles!) and has used it for many years. I frequently use it myself and love it.

It's not a cheap brand but it's not in the expensive luxury price range either. I personally think it is good quality for the price you pay.

As far as retinol goes, I have sensitive skin and have never had a reaction to the L'oreal paris range.

Olay is another good brand that is in the moderate price range, they have so many different lines to address your concerns. I use the vitamin C serum and moisturiser when my skin looks dull.

If you are a fan of Korean skin care range, then COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence is something to consider. It's cheap compared to other quality skin care products. It targets dull skin and reduces fine lines. I love it and many other people do too, considering it's very popular on amazon. You can get it online and in most asian beauty stores.

Ultimately, you'll have to trial and error to see which skincare products work best for you.

How do you figure out if you have oily skin, or just dry skin that's overproducing oil to compensate?

Anyone use clindamyacin? I'm a guy with pretty bad acne and folliculitis and I was wondering if the shit my doc gave me will actually work or not. Been on it about 3-4 days now.

Not sure where to ask but what would be some good treatments for ezcema? Keep getting it and it is really annoying

My routine is washing my face with warm water in the morning. In the shower, I start with a La Roche Posay face wash then Neutrogena acne wash. If my skin needs it, I’ll exfoliate. If I look like a corpse, I’ll use tumeric pads to brighten my skin. After the shower, I use Olay’s vitamin C moisturizer. If my skin feels oily throughout the day, I wash with witch hazel. At night, I wash my face with warm water. This has been very effective for me but I take birth control so that contributes too. It may not work for everyone, hopefully it can give some ideas! :)

I know someone with chronic whole body eczema, eucerin is a staple as well as anything oatmeal based as @Sharon Osbourne Official suggested. Cetaphil ultra gentle bodywash and weleda skin food are also used during dry season. Hydrocortisone can be used on more severe spots, I use it and "seal" it with vaseline. Best time to apply lotions are fresh out of the shower when your skin is still a little damp.

Hoping some Kiwis can help me because I’m a complete newbie to skincare.

I’ve never had acne problems in my life, even as a teenager, until recently in my early 30s. It just suddenly started one day and it’s been a battle for a couple of years now. I’ve got naturally oily skin (never in my life had a problem with dry skin, it’s always way too oily).

I don’t wear makeup except once or twice a year for special occasions and the only products I’ve regularly used are Cetaphil Oily Skin cleanser twice a day, Biore UV sunscreen (Jap brand) and, most, recently, Epiduo 2-3 times a week. The Epiduo works in combatting acne, but it burns my skin, and the moment I stop it, the acne comes back with a vengeance. Had my hormones checked: no problem. Not on any meds. I completely cut out all sugar and processed foods 2 years ago trying to get rid of this, and while I’m glad I did, the acne still persists.

Any advice? There’s so much information out there that I don’t know where to start and I don’t want to blow a bunch of money on products that are useless.

that's what i use and it works. it helps a lot. i also switched to using just dial soap in the shower for a body wash and that's helped my body acne. clindamycin is drying and also helps acne by slowing bacteria growth. so the anti bacterial soap helps a ton as well.

If it’s pimples here and there, I’ve had a lot of luck using pimple patches. Put them on at night and they should be better by the morning. I use an acne cleanser and it’s worked for me. Have you tried wiping your face down with witch hazel throughout the day? That helps me when my skin feels oily.

Great suggestions, thank you! I’m especially keen to try something with witch hazel, that sounds like exactly what I need.

I used acanya (clindamyacin/benzoyl peroxide) as well as clindamyacin phosphate for a few years, one in the morning and one at night and it did slightly reduce my acne though I have a VERY strong hunch it was due to hormones since it got better as I got older. I do use an oil-free 2.5% benzoyl peroxide wash daily now which may also help, as well as washing with castile soap and using a light lotion when necessary. Also recommended by my dermatologist to not use loofas, cloths, or scrubs on your face since it can cause microtears and let more bacteria in which checks out in my experience.

If anyone needs a soap that will take off ten years worth of grime and has a scent that won't rinse off (possibly ever) try Irish Spring 5-in-1 Body Wash.
The pump bottle I have wouldn't open until I showed it a TikTok video on how it should do. Then it cooperated just fine.
The tiniest amount of it not only took all the oil out of my hands but also turned the tips of my nails very white, which usually only happens if I am cleaning with baking soda and/or bleach.
I'm pretty sure if a pregnant woman used this soap, the baby would come out smelling like Irish Spring and not need a bath for the first six months of life.
It's impressive and a little scary.

I swear by the Earth Harbor Naturals lines. My skin is on the drier side, and I'm an every day makeup wearer, and using 4 of their products every day has done wonders for my keeping my face hydrated and acne away the past year or so I've used them. For people who don't like a lot of very synthetic shit in their skin care, it's a pretty good company for that. It's a little pricey depending on your budget, but they have a build your own bundle thing that works really well for addressing specific issues and is a little bit cheaper to do. They also have much cheaper mini sets you can try out before committing to full products. The bundle will run you about $100, but it lasts for I'd say 3 months or more even if you use the products twice a day like I do, and you don't need very much of it at all, just consistency. The refills are also a little cheaper once you get a routine you like going. My specific routine is I use the Ahoy Love cleanser, Calypso vitamin C serum, Tidal Rose toner, and Siren Silk as a moisturizer. That's all. I think it's a good, simple routine that's easy to understand, and I think it justifies the price I shell out every few months for me personally.

Late, but I recommend trying vitamin C serums. Being pale as hell, I sometimes look like a corpse when it's cold, and this is the one thing that I've found helps get some color and life into my skin. I use the Garnier vitamin C night serum, and it's become a staple, though not everyone seems to get the results I do. I apply mine at night, because these do have a yellowish tint to them, and I wake up with considerably more radiant and plump skin than when I don't use it. I don't think it does much for my skin overall, but it's a pretty good thing to have whenever I want to be sure that I'll wake up with a lil' bit of a boost.
