doctor said she wanted to prescribe me spironolactone and in my head I thought heh heh tranny drug

probably because of kf I knew it has side effects so I was like fine I guess I'll pay 75 dollars for the name brand skin cream version as opposed to the cheap pill version
not here yet but she also prescribed me dapsone gel
perhaps they'll do something

depends heavily on the dose. HRT-level doses are between 150mg and 400mg, but 25-50mg is usually good for everything else afaik. some people get no side effects at all, others start pissing every 20 minutes and become chronically dehydrated. worth a shot if only to find out if you're in the "shitty side effect" group

Fellow kiwis, I got some nasty bug bites on my legs a couple of months ago and they left some dark scars like this:

Do you have any recommendations? The closest dermatologist appointment I can get is in 3 weeks :/

I'd recommend applying a retinoid at night while keeping it moisturized through the day. Also put some vitamin C on it. Physically exfoliate. Chemically exfoliate with a BHA/AHA like glycolic acid or salicylic acid a few times a week.

A friend gave me this kit from Evan Healy.

I like how my skin feels after using it but I loathe the scents (something I will never tell my friend) and to buy the full size versions is about $140. Just the cleanser is $38. I'm not a poorfag but I can't really afford that either, especially if I hate the fragrance.

I have jojoba oil, which I like as a moisturizer. I don't have a cleanser, but I like how creamy this milk cleanser is and found a milk cleanser on Amazon with good reviews. Do hydrosouls really even do anything? I found clay powder on Amazon for $12 for a ton of it. Do I even need a mask?

For the record I don't get zits (thank you menopause) but my skin doesn’t look the smoothest on my forehead. Big pores and vaguely splotchy in color, and some wrinkles. I grew up in the 80s when no one in my area of Texas had heard of sunscreen and I was outside a lot as a kid. I figure there's not a lot I can do now, but maybe I'm wrong. I do know there's nothing to do about the wrinkles, and honestly I'm fine with them.

I don't think you need mask or clay. Clay is suppose to skin the zits the rest of the claims are dubious IMHO.
You may need a good hydrating serum, an hydrating cream, something with vitamin C if you want to get rid of your sunspot, maybe a retinol, and some sunscreen if paired with sun hats will allow some of the damage to repair itself.
You can also use the jojoba as an oil cleanser to remove the sunscreen and then a little bit of cleanser and a lot of water to get rid of it.

I did pick up an inexpensive vitamin c serum the other day and some Korean sunscreen that doesn't make my skin feel weird to the touch.

I'll start looking into those other products you mentioned. Thanks!

Question: Is it alright to use retinol after putting on another product like say a Dr. Jarts mask, or a moisturizer, or is there something in the retinol that could react negatively to it?

Right now I use Olay Retinol 24 but before that it was Dr. Jarts Cicapair and Vital Hydra Solution Biome Water Cream with one face mask per day, usually later on. I would often use a Biore Men’s thing from Japan, that or the regular Biore to start my routine. Basically, Biore stuff on, then washed off, then face mask.

In what order should things be done, and are there any interactions to avoid with Retinol?

That’s a good point, clay masks don’t seem to do anything , and Biore pore strops don’t either.

Post your skincare stacks, ladies.
Current stack:
  • Collagen 2 x 300 mg
  • Hyaluronic acid 40 mg (And looking into a higher dose than my current shots offer. Any suggestions?)
  • Spearmint 400 mg
I like the brand, because it's cheap.

Yea, don't do any retinol from them. They don't even have a 1% retinol

The caffeine, niacinamide, salicylic acid, vitamin C 20% and glycolic acid toner gets a thumbs up from me

They got a ferulic acid + resveratrol serum to mix with the vit C too, but they don't have it on the site I order from, and they don't do the VAT in the online store.
I have to thank you for the recommendation! I tried some of the other Revox products and really liked the hyaluronic acid serum and the Marine collagen and hyaluronic acid serum.
It also caused me to take a look around and I found another low-priced brand: Nacomi Next level.
I bought the 15 % vitamin C serum and a whim, and really liked that one!
So far I haven´t found a single vitamin C serum I actually like, so this was a pleasant surprise. Especially the Ordinary’s vitamin C serum is awful on my skin and leaves a really icky residue.
They also have a 10 % hyaluronic acid serum that is absolutely amazing and have become one of my personal top 5 products.
So, good stuff! And thank you for making me look around.

I've been using ELF hydrating cream and hydrating serum, a cheap vitamin c serum, the Walgreens cerave generic retinol, and an ELF cleanser at night; vitamin c micellar water, EKF hydrating cream, and a Korean sunscreen in the morning, both since the 12th.

I am already seeing a difference in the redness in my face and chest. I hardly ever go outside for longer than five minutes but my cheeks and forehead have always been red. Now the skin tone is much more even, almost to the point where it looks like I'm wearing tinted moisturizer or foundation. I love it because I hate the feeling of makeup, but I hate being red.

I know it's too soon to see if the retinal is doing anything, but I am having some purging. I haven't had zits in almost a year, but in the last week I've had three tiny ones.

I'm also taking a collagen supplement most days. It's way too early to see if that is doing anything, but it might also help my arthritis so I'll keep taking it even if I don't see a difference.

These things seem like a gimmick.
These had a bit of a hype wave 5-6 years ago and then utterly vanished, which would indicate that most people just bought it once because it was weird. I remembered being curious at the time but never tried one because they're recommended for greaseballs and I'm a pillar of dust.

They'll probably be all over TikTok for a couple of months and then drop off again.

$38 for a 120ml cleanser is unnecessary, save your money for active ingredients that you don't rinse off after 45 seconds. I like the CeraVe hydrating cleanser for normal to dry skin, it's a good cream cleanser and about $20 for the 455ml bottle.

On the topic of cleansing, Garnier 2-in-1 eye makeup remover (the little dual phase purple one) is the single greatest eye makeup remover ever and it's normally €5 but goes on sale for €3. Fuck Lancome and Nars and all those expensive ones, it's just better.

This is only my personal experience but I've noticed it works better if I use retinol alone.

My dermatologist advised to use a moisturizer on top if it burns but besides that nothing.

I use tretinoin 0.1% so my advice might be irrelevant but hope it helps.

I’ve been getting a little bit of acne on my cheeks, so I decided to try a stronger retinol cream. I’d been using a night cream “with retinol”, probably very low percentage because it was basically just moisturiser. New one is Paula’s Choice 1%. Applied it yesterday evening, and this morning my face sloughed off. The dried out skin still hurts. I guess I’ll need to get used to a higher concentration retinol, but this makes me really glad I didn’t just jump straight to tretinoin like my friend suggested I should.

I really dig Lush’s facial moisturizers, lotions, and “Veganese” hair conditioner. I use “enchanted” eye cream and “imperialis” on my face after I wash it cause otherwise I feel kind of dry and itchy. Plus side; I don’t get much acne.

I don’t bother with the bath bombs though. I don’t really use baths and not sure what it’s supposed to do.

skin purging has to be the biggest bullshit on the planet. been using the most basic cleanser and moisturizer for the past month and it looks like i've been using meth and staying in the sun for the last 20 years. i've gotten acne in places i've never gotten it in my life, i just wanted to get rid of all the blackheads on my nose and now i look like the white Edward James Olmos.

it takes months to make see a derm here too, so its probably going to take a year to find out if i'm allergic to what i've been putting on my face the last month. i might as well have just been rubbing my face with bacon grease with how shit i feel.

Well it depends what you mean. I mentioned earlier that those black clay masks don’t actually seem to do anything, but retinol actually does some good for skin. From what I’ve been able to see it gets rid of imperfections like if you have a slight discolored part on your skin and seems to brighten skin overall. Not in a bb cream way but just more of a natural brightness. Also, Dr. Jart’s Cicapair line of products seems to help, if you can get the serum and color correcting cream, the reason being the cream is green colored and due to how light reflects or the color of skin or something, it tricks the brain into thinking you are just evenly skin toned. It’s basically like a foundation cream.

What I don’t understand is why they put anything alcohol based into stuff that is meant to go on your face. Alcohol dries skin. You want these:

The color correcting thing is the foundation like one.

The cream one is meant to bring down redness due to the tiger grass in it.

Does anybody know treatments for making oily skin produce less sebum? I tried niacinamide, but it made me glow like a fed. I'm using azelaic acid for my acne (great results!), so I'm moisturizing like crazy to combat the drying effects and I've incresed my water intake, but I still get oily in 2-3 hours after my routine.
