Dr. Dray has began to absolutely disgust me. She constantly contradicts herself, shills, and cherry picks. She tried to associate fish with being a cancer causing agent a few months ago and demonizes dairy/meat. It baffles me that a dermatologist refuses to see the benefits of a good diet consisting of healthy animal products.
She is starting ghastly wither away at only 37 and her hair is awful.
I mean, being vegan is often just an excuse for not eating properly. If you take a look at her older videos, you will see that she looks much more healthy now.
Recently she did get a faux fur pillow, which she loves. But plastic fur is way more damaging to the environment than a real fur one, and it's not like they just take the fur off the animal and throw the corpse away. Oh no no, they use every single bit of it. This is the bit fur activist hate to admit.

So she might be "kind" to the animals, but acting like she's hating the planet.
Recent antics include launching a tirade against tea tree oil
I mean, essential oils always had a bad rep. A-terpinene is one of the active components in it, and I did have a serum from Korea with it once. It's not that common, but if you’re dead set on using an essential oil. A serum which have the encapsulated form of the active component, is better than getting a burn from a straight up essential oil.
This snarky anachan bitch is getting a lot of negative feedback on TikTok and rightfully so.
TikTok is for lowlifes, so I wouldn't take anything there seriously. She has warned about not being stupid and not do legit harmful skinhacks from there. It's hard not getting snarky when you’re surrounded with stupid.
It's like a bunch of retards flinging their shit without any means or reason :story:

Could one of you lovely ladies give me some skincare advice? Please.

I have never put any effort into skincare and now being over 30, it’s really starting to show on my face. I have a large crease vertically between my eyebrows with puffy excess skin(?) which gives me a permanent grouchy squint, its not just a wrinkle line. Do you think Is botox my only option or can I possibly improve it with home remedies?

Also, the skin under my eyebrows and between them is also really flaky, I basically have dandruff in my eyebrows! My head hair is fine though.

I started trying to moisturise my face every couple of days a few months ago but it has made absolutely no difference so far and I am just getting so deflated with the whole thing.

I was getting lines like that from my last job. I called them my “wtf” lines. Frowning literally all day while muttering “wtf” to myself trying to fix fuck ups and appease (justifiably) unhappy clients. Hint: don't work for an incompetant building company where everyone is related except you. Almost three years later and the lines are barely noticeable. Maybe you frown a lot and don't realise?
The flaky skin? Face oil. Have a look a few posts back, we were talking about it and doing an oil cleanse. Also, do you get really hot while you sleep, like wake up hot? That'll wreak havoc on your skin and make it dry, especially around your forehead and cheeks. The skin around your eyes is so thin, and doesn't naturally produce much oil, so if your skin is dry, that's probably where you'll notice it first. Drinking lots of water also helps, at least 2 litres a day.
Hopefully some other people have some ideas/input, but those are the things that worked for me. Good luck :)

Only had my phone when I saw the post (not bothering to write on the phone)

You need to hear what you options for sagging skin is, but I think that's a job for a plastic surgeon. Don't even bother humouring the idea of fillers, botox or home remedies for that.
The Argireline serum from The ordinary is like botox in a bottle. As in greatly softens dynamic lines (lines from movement). It doesn't paralyse the muscles like botox though.

Tried remedies for dandruff, on your brows?

I would suggest ablative CO2 laser to kick-start it and then maintaining it with tretinoin, SPF and other stuff. But since you’re completely new to this, I think it's best to listen to a dermatologist.

Is it dandruff or dry skin? Dandruff is yellow and smelly and is caused by a fungal infection. Dry skin is white and flaky. A dandruff remedy will have something for killing the fungus. Dry skin is cured by hydration and moisturizing.

I dont think its dandruff tbh, that is probably me catastrophising, but it’s like my skin feels really oily if I touch it but if I rub it, it just peels off in large flakes super easily… only around my eyebrows though.

I am currently working on my diet… it is atrocious, plus I only get my liquid intake from tea and soda currently. I will try to drink some plain water daily. Realistically it is probably not going to be anywhere near 2l though… I absolutely cannot stand the stuff! But I will definitely try and incorporate some water from this day on.

Ha I do have a job that involves me staring at a screen… or reading small writing on paperwork and funnily enough, dealing with a manager who every single one of us thinks is a massive bellend. So it is more than likely I am spending 12 hours a day (Shift work!) frowning and grimacing without even realising it.

I will also look up this Argireline serum stuff. I don’t want to resort to plastic surgery but it’s not completely off the table because I just feel so low about my face nowadays.

I am in the Uk, I honestly don’t believe we even have dermatologists… not a qualified one that you can just see without getting a referral from a GP anyways…. and you have probably all heard how difficult it is to 1. Get an appointment with a GP. 2. Actually get your GP to refer you to anything and 3. In the unlikely case that you do get refered, you will be waiting around 2 years to see the specialist.
Universal healthcare… not even once.

Thank you. I will make some more dietary adjustments, keep up with the moisturising/add some oil serum, try to stop being a frowny face at work and keep my fingers crossed.
And if all else fails… maybe see what surgical/laser etc options might be available to me.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to answer!

As a general rule, if the urine is straw coloured. Then you’re well hydrated, drinking beyond that just makes you fly to the bathroom more.

What's that? Vingle wants me to post skincare tiktoks? Okay!

Unless you're taking certain vitamin B supplements. Those can make it green sometimes.

I like the first lady, you can see she's about the same age as the last one. But she looks noticeably better skin-wise. The brows on the last one make her look fucking crazy too.
She shouldn't buy into the hype though, as of course it's all bs.

Well since I found out that I am lactose intolerant (RIP to me I guess) I cut dairy from my diet and I felt a little improvement on my skin. Also I don't consume much sugary products.
I'm kind of a poorfag so I don't use so many products on my skincare routine, but I generally have a good skin with only a few acne here and there days before my period, so I don't worry too much.
I like to use tea tree spray before applying a moisturizer for normal skin. I also use papaya lip scrub once a week because my lips are really dry.
Once a month I use green clay mask and twice a month I use white one. And sunscreen all times, even on cloudy days.

Crossposting you here because I want to learn more.
Oh boy. I'm not an expert at all, I'm just plagued by dry, sensitive skin. I used to be hooked on expensive facial oil (Sunday Riley Juno and Drunk Elephant marula oil were favorites), but I'm a biochemist at heart, so making my own oil blend was something that really appealed to me. I also started making a scalp oil blend for my significant other last year and figured I'd give facial oil blending a shot, too.

I sort of bumbled around the Internet until I came up with some intriguing candidate oils, and went from there. I browsed some of the skincare subreddits, and once I'd partially recovered from the severe case of autism I contracted there, I started looking at the ingredients lists for various "luxury" facial oils available at Sephora. They are pretty trendy right now, so that generated lots of data.

My current go-to blend is about 3 parts argan oil, 2 parts sea buckthorn seed oil, 2 parts borage oil, 1 part prickly pear seed oil, and 1 part rose hip oil. I've also tried and liked jojoba and marula oils, but decided to go with argan oil this time. I might add some marula to the next blend.

Basically, for around half the price of a bottle of the Sunday Riley stuff, I get a ton of my own blend, and I'm able to tweak the composition as I like. I'm sure that more knowledgeable people here could suggest good oils for you based on your skin needs. I pat 3-5 drops of my oil all over my face after my evening shower, then apply my regular night moisturizer. In winter, I slather on a layer of Vaseline on top because I live in a frigid shithole. In the morning, I rinse with warm water and a washcloth, then put on a bit of oil prior to moisturizer and sunscreen. I don't know if it's actually performing all the miracles people claim to see from the "luxury" facial oils at Sephora and the like, but it feels like a little indulgence in my day.

Just a specific note about sea buckthorn oil: it is really nice and has a great consistency, but it's bright orange and will stain your pillowcases if you put it on too close to bedtime.

I've always been skeptical towards oils and see it as this hippy thing as essential oil. Just less harmful.
Oil are emollients, oils with a higher content of linoleic acid than oleic acid is better at moisturising.
They are theorised to help with antioxidants, anti aging, wound healing. Not saying they are bad, but you aren't missing anything if you don't use it.
Not seeing dermatologiss rave about them. It's always beauty gurus, that aren't even that nice to look at and is certainly using beauty filters or makeup. If you have truly good skin, you don't have a need to cover up

Oil are oils. It's like essential oils. It will always be different from batch to batch, as you can't control what's in a natural product.

Don't mind that Dr. Dray is a ana-chan here. It's still good information, and didn't find a more recent video than 4 years ago

Status update on this issue?
I am now having the same problem except now its all over my face particularly on the greasier parts of my face and it has been this way for over a month now.
Used to have a similar issue when I started with the retinoid gel by la roche but it went away after a 1 month of using it and it actually helped with my acne.

the difference with this is that when I started the gel it felt like my skin was peeling rather than flaking.
is it a weird ass skin infection? has anyone else experience a similar issue?

Getting better!

I have started doing a proper exfoliation probably twice a week on average. I am also not using anything on my face except for an anti-wrinkle cream (Revitalift) every time after I exfoliate.

My skin is mo longer feeling oily, just more…. Springy? Not quite sure how to phrase it. Though between my eyebrows has definitely still got a bit of a greasyish sheen to it, better than before but still noticeable.

As for the peeling skin, it has massively improved, I am not getting large chunks of fkaked skin falling off my face if I just rub the skin slightly now (though it does if I aggressively rub). if I look in a magnified mirrow, I can still see flakiness, just not as bad. I am also trying my best to leave my face alone more…. I didn’t realize how much I rub my face, especially round my brows when I am stressed. I think that wasn’t helping.

Glad to hear you’re making progress!

One suggestion I’d have is skipping your Revitalift on the days that you exfoliate. While consistency is important for retinol and retinoids, it’s usually not recommended to do both on the same day as they’re both quite irritating actives. I suspect that some of the residual flakiness and shininess/oiliness that you see might be due to irritation. These are common symptoms of a compromised skin barrier.

I mostly use CeraVe products, I consider it the gold standard for skin care because it works well with no trendy bs added.

My lineup is:
CeraVe salicylic acid face wash
CeraVe moisturizing toner
CeraVe moisturizer

Usually I do my skincare routine when I take my daily shower. If i get whiteheads I just use a spot treatment and moisturize over it after 30m so it doesn't dry out entirely. For my body I use a CeraVe moisturizing cream.

Just started again on minoxidil for beard growth. It do work, but it only helps vellus hair/peach fuzz to mature into terminal hairs/thick normal hairs. It kind of "activate" your genetic potential.
I did get some growth the last time I was on it and it have remained, as you will lose hair. If you quit too early, but it isn't like head hair. Where you have to use it for the rest of your life.

The skincare part of this. The most common and cheapest minoxidil solution. Is a solution with alcohol and propylene glycol. Anyone that knows a little bit about skincare knows this will absolutely wreck your skin, if you don't moisturise it properly.

It's been a few years since I last checked into the sub on reddit for this, and it is completely unchanged. Whining about dry skin and questions that is answered in the FAQ.
And some are terrified about skin ageing. Well, of course rubbing a solution with alcohol and propylene glycol will make the skin rough. As you're supposed to use it at least once a day for 1 year.
Someone tried to demand a study to PROVE that this solution is bad for your skin:stress:

I don't get the dry skin and flakes of course, but even I did get a phase where my skin felt inflamed.

Tretinoin do help in making the skin turn minoxidil to the active form more. Since some are non/slow-responders to minoxidil

Of course they are very keen on showing off their results too, regardless of it looks shitty or not.
This future ISIS soldier got in a fight with someone in the comments. Because he's that fucking delusional that he actually means he looks good.

Sorry not sorry. This fucking PIG made me vomit a little. Like, even the deathfats here aren't this gross to look at.

Anecdotally, that liquid alcohol/PG solution minoxidil is also brutal on the hair on your head, especially if it's processed in any way.

I started playing around with my hair color this year, and I've been going to a really nice professional salon to do it. The first time I got bleached, the areas around where I was applying minoxidil had a greenish hue, and my hair was insanely brittle, leading to crazy breakage. Once I realized the minoxidil might be the culprit I switched to the foam solution, and I haven't had problems since.

That's a good point. They're afraid of keeping it trimmed and neat too, rather want to grow out a patchy beard. I'm not a fan of long beards even if its dense enough, you kind of just look homeless.
So for beard it's less important, as it should be trimmed in a fast enough fashion for it to not even matter.

They recommend the foam solution for those that can't handle the dryness too
