That’s...actually a clever way to make Jessie’s goofy hair work as a visual gag. Dreds do have some structure to them so it’s not that much of an exaggeration. James needs to take those dishwasher gloves off his head though. Meowth still being in basically the shows OG style makes him stick out badly though.

It really depends on the kind of Sami and the individual person. Powerlevel but a family member of mine was quite tanned. But you're right that, generally, they're pretty light skinned.

I like that there are just chunks of construction paper taped to the tails of these pikachu (that’s how you tell the genders apart since I think X/Y, the tail) that’s about the level of effort half of the down with cis types seem to put into their own transition.

Not 100% sure what you mean by that (cue my brain being stupid whenever times are rough)
It's just that when DSP's chars don't have "canon" skin colors I really could care less if people give them different skin colors as long as actual effort is put into it (e.g. the Wadda above making her "more" sea-themed). As opposed to a bland drawing of her that would be the same design, but with black skin.
My point about the ashy skin though was mainly that when DSP DOES give his characters real skintones, the shades he uses are rather dull, and I'd put the ashiness of the skin in that redesign on the count of the official style

Already replied to that few days ago, but for the truth's sake I decided to check D-SP's characters to be sure. Regular humans, some demons and a few humanoid animal characters (hope I didn't miss anyone) do have normal white skin color, yes, and there are a few characters who have non-white skins, like these two. But I still do not see anything indicating that pale characters are lacking a "canon" skin color, or that brownwashing them is okay.

P.S. And as said before, many of them having pale skin actually makes sense.
