tbf I can kiiiinda see why they would blackwash a character even though it's bullshit, although there's literally no point in doing that besides Tumblr brownie points
I guess, but I really can't see why you'd do it (unless you elaborate for me).
To be honest I feel that these people are just super insecure about their own skin color and such. Maybe it's due to their environment and they had had shitty parents and people tell them they're too dark (it happens trust me) or maybe due to drinking the SJW Koolaid they think their white skin is awful so they compensate with changing the skin color to be darker so it's more accepted.
Either way, it sucks for both parties, but I still feel that changing canon characters is 100% asinine and ridiculous. What are you changing to help benefit yourself in the end? Your mind is never going to be satisfied because people are generally never satisfied with anything. Physically, unless you get surgery, you aren't changing your skin color. Hell, even showing these characters to people in real life will leave them saying a simple "okay, you do you."
What these people seem to fail to realize is that people can not give LESS of an iota of a fuck about a fictional character because like the general population they are more concerned with reality. That's the reason why people find it generally odd when a person who's an adult is obsessed with a fictional character. As a child, it's cute, but when you're older it's kind of weird. Why? Because people mature, realize what's more important and move on.
I originally gave the benefit of the doubt that these people were 13 (and in some cases they are) but that Marina incident involved a 19 year-old. I don't know about you, but any 19 year-old that obsessed with changing a characters skin color probably has too much time on their hands and is not investing enough time in the future.
The point I'm trying to make is that using these characters to fill a void for your insecurity won't help anything. It won't change people's minds and it won't change your life. They can think all they want it that it will, but it won't. Complaining to creators on Twitter to change their work for your need will do nothing for the future. It really all amounts to a big waste of time that could be spent actually improving at something other than whining and complaining.
