Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

tbf I can kiiiinda see why they would blackwash a character even though it's bullshit, although there's literally no point in doing that besides Tumblr brownie points

I guess, but I really can't see why you'd do it (unless you elaborate for me).

To be honest I feel that these people are just super insecure about their own skin color and such. Maybe it's due to their environment and they had had shitty parents and people tell them they're too dark (it happens trust me) or maybe due to drinking the SJW Koolaid they think their white skin is awful so they compensate with changing the skin color to be darker so it's more accepted.

Either way, it sucks for both parties, but I still feel that changing canon characters is 100% asinine and ridiculous. What are you changing to help benefit yourself in the end? Your mind is never going to be satisfied because people are generally never satisfied with anything. Physically, unless you get surgery, you aren't changing your skin color. Hell, even showing these characters to people in real life will leave them saying a simple "okay, you do you."

What these people seem to fail to realize is that people can not give LESS of an iota of a fuck about a fictional character because like the general population they are more concerned with reality. That's the reason why people find it generally odd when a person who's an adult is obsessed with a fictional character. As a child, it's cute, but when you're older it's kind of weird. Why? Because people mature, realize what's more important and move on.

I originally gave the benefit of the doubt that these people were 13 (and in some cases they are) but that Marina incident involved a 19 year-old. I don't know about you, but any 19 year-old that obsessed with changing a characters skin color probably has too much time on their hands and is not investing enough time in the future.

The point I'm trying to make is that using these characters to fill a void for your insecurity won't help anything. It won't change people's minds and it won't change your life. They can think all they want it that it will, but it won't. Complaining to creators on Twitter to change their work for your need will do nothing for the future. It really all amounts to a big waste of time that could be spent actually improving at something other than whining and complaining.

I totally agree with you...it's like those white/cis guys who make videos on YouTube that "kiss the feet" of radical feminists to compensate for their "toxic masculinity". It sucks that people have to feel bad now because they are part of the majority.

not really SJW art, but it's from the same person who started the "whitewashed Marina" shitshow

maybe the blackwashing one is about people complaining about his Pearl drawing?

looks like they're still salty as shit, this Joulejay person seems almost threadwothy

Who hurt this child? Their obsession with skin colors is as if it started from childhood mistreatment, yeesh.

I know SJW logic dictates that clothes don't define gender, but... Hmmm.

well tbh underneath those burqa there's always a chance there's an actual dude instead of a woman, there was couple of cases on my country where some dudes wearing hijab or burqa to steal electronics even motorcycles and there was also a case of a guy disguising himself as hijabi to catfishing another guy and ended up robbed him

we never know until we hear them speak and getting a manly voice from them

So this is apparently an improvement.

The first picture looks so much more interesting with the colors and the characters. It feels like all the color theory basics just went out the window in the last pic *sigh*

And yeah, they avoided hands and such in the first pic, but it looks appealing and cute. The characters are noticeable by the color palette alone, and it looks nice. If it wasn't a bit sloppy, i'd assume the sketchiness was an artistic choice.

The second image isn't awful, but I feel like it's just a bit lacking compared to the first one. The noses, muted colors and overlay don't help it's case either.

the second one needs some work But It looks aaaa way better than the gremlin shit I have witnessed. That is not saying much in am honest y.

I don't understand why people get riled up about poc characters? Last time I checked, white is a color as well. And I love how she claims that drawing whites with dark skin isn't blackwashing. All these tumblr kids believe in equality, right? So they should put white/black washing in the same playing field (especially with the rasist caricatures they pull off).

u know how it goes

rules for thee but not for me

So this is apparently an improvement.

i feel like this was posted here before, and if so i mightve said this already but, u can tell the artist read neokosmos and thought it was cool shit and just straight copied the artstyle

That's assuming everyone doing blackwashing is themselves black or dark-skinned.

I think a lot of it is also white people who either have a fetish or are desperate for Good Ally points.

it is with a heavy heart i must inform you all the osomatsu sans are at it again

There's not really an "again" in this instance considering Feliville is never not at it.

i really hope the first piece is newer but knowing tumblr they could consider the latter "improvement"

Nah, the top one is the new one. I'll talk shit about Feliville a lot, but they've been steadily improving in the last year or two art wise. They still draw stupid shit like this, but at least they make an attempt to make it look better.
