Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

Christ, I was hoping the actual show might look better than this buttfuck ugly promo art but if this promo video is anything to go by it's somehow even worse. It's trying really hard to be cute and meme-y but it's just obnoxious as fuck.

Someone got paid to draw this.

So much is wrong here. It hurts. I'm on the same boat as you. The people who made this really didn't give a shit at all.

What the fuck is with his face? What are those white lines? Are they supposed to be highlights? They look awful! Why is his hand bigger than his body? It's twice the length of the torso. The sword is supposed to be in front of him, but the shadows are all fucked up. The hands look like total crap. Also, no shading.

And that fucking face. It's getting way too close to owo territory. Who greenlit this shit?

I know they look most mostly similar, but I think that this looks more like Teen Titans Go than anything.

TTG is bad but at least it's artstyle is decent and easy to recognize. This thundercats reboot however is literally the unholy fusion of Steven Universe ugly faces and OK KO fucked up hand/muscle proportions.

Look at these pics try to convince someone they're not the same show.

With the new Thundercats Roar show coming out, I'm getting really fucking tired of seeing discount Steven Universe everywhere. Say what you want about cartoons in the 90s/00's, but they at least looked DIFFERENT. Billy and Mandy didn't look like Courage the Cowardly Dog and Johnny Bravo did not look like Dexter's Lab. They all had their own feeling, mood, atmosphere and color palette in rare cases.

What does this look like to you:
cats-thunder-jpg.454492

It looks like OH KO! and a mix of Steven universe. The characters don't look like they belong in Thundercats. They look like they belong in one of those shows. It's so irritating because the creator of this reboot said that this is supposed to be an "action show". Completely serious action show. What utter garbage. Justice league is an action show. BTAS is an action show. This is something I don't even know what to describe.

I've seen people defending this crap. It's no wonder most cartoons have this bootleg Steven universe style these days. They want more SU looking crap.

Not to mention that she's married and has a child with him.

And so is Ino, too. Sakura would never ever be after an already taken person, even if she wasn’t as Sasuke-centered as she is.

Love how she’s black-washed too, even when she is pale in canon and does NOT come from Kumogakure aka the Naruto land where there ARE dark-skinned people.

not sure if this goes here but it's technically related to the topic and it's kinda blowing up so

Which tacitly re-enforces the idea of an sjw art style, the concept of being an sjw and many of the negative connetations that implies.
Plus it's nice to know someones really asshurt about this page because their art is ugly as hell.....who did this and have they been featured.

To be honest, even if it isn't canon, the comic is pretty harmless. Not everything related to the LGBT community=SJW.

On another topic, I know some people posted the Tumblr Art Style meme, but in case people haven't seen it yet here you go:View attachment 454487

So, it's not another OK KO crossover/special like the one with captain planet? what a shame.

And by the way. Hey, CN. Whatever happened to this?

How about bringing this back instead?

If more people had watched it maybe then it'd have gotten a proper conclusion.

And you know what, I'm going to say this, people complain about the CalArts style today - and that's fine - but never mention how every fucking action cartoon back in the day was trying to ape anime? That was just as bad with how everybody was fucking doing it and you could never find any different style. Those days are gone and I'm glad they're gone.

In the early 2000's you had a lot of cartoons aping the Butch Hartman/UPA-ish style. Dexter's Lab (which Hartman worked on) and The Powerpuff Girls looked so similar people thought they were in the same universe, but after the success of The Fairly Oddparents and Danny Phantom, other shows tried to ape that style, with Total Drama Island being the most egregious.

These things go in cycles. This isn't the first time there's been a show that's sent off to a studio who has an in-house style that's unfitting for the material it's producing. Remember when Klasky-Csupo did those Ronald McDonald cartoons for McDonald's?

I remember. They were horrifying.

unfortunately this time if you don't like the style of the cycle you get dangerhairs and soyboys screaming at you

A mix of nostalgia blindness and the fact that most of these shows with pseudo-anime style fell into obscurity rather quickly.

I can't think of any show with that style that's even remembered to begin with, besides Teen Titans, Avatar the last airbender and to a lesser extent Totally spies.

,
They were, though. Remember the episode of the PPG where the Justice Friends were in it?

Everything goes in cycles, and there are general styles that people work in - and admittedly, people can distinguish themselves within that style... But I do think that something different would be nice. Even during the 2000s you had cartoons in other styles that didn't look like the Tartakovsky/McCracken/Hartman stuff.

(I remember as well, but that's what happens when you send your work to a studio staffed by people who worked on avant-garde Eastern European cartoons.)

It'll happen to the CalArts style some day too. Ten years from now we'll have people complaining about whatever style's in vogue and comparing it to Steven Universe.

From what I understand people did watch it to the tune of 2.4 million viewers, but between western action shows having a rather archaic business model that relies almost entirely on toy sales from whatever demographic the network deems to be the correct one and CN striking a deal with LEGO to make another similar show, it was more about being cheap more than anything.

I agree, there always have been trends in animation, but I would argue that both 90s and 2000s were lot more diverse than modern US animation. There was 5-6 dominating art styles (let's say Klasky Csupo, Cartoon Network, realistic superhero cartoons, anime and Disney TV in 90s) now we have basically one.

And you know what, I'm going to say this, people complain about the CalArts style today - and that's fine - but never mention how every fucking action cartoon back in the day was trying to ape anime? I agree, but it wasn't THAT same-y. Teen Titans, Ben 10, Generator Rex and Thundercats 2011 all were part of this trend, but their art styles looks different enough from each other.

That was also why Young Justice got prematurely cancelled, despite doing well ratings-wise.

And once this trend of Steven Universe-similarly looking art passes, I'm not sure if I would look forward to the art style that replaces that as being the "in thing".

At least those shows looked way better and had more care put into them. Thundercats Roar just looks like dogshit.

I think people don't mind older cartoon style trends because the older styles at least took a lot more fucking effort. The pseudo anime style trend looked really good in shows like Teen titans and Avatar. The Steven universe character design model is fucking easy and lazy. I drew a basic ass Steven universe rip off and my best attempt at one of those superhero/pseudo anime art styles from a cartoon from about 1995-2010 as fast as I could to compare them.
upload_2018-5-20_14-28-23.png

Fucking anatomyless Steven Universe rip off took two minutes and it looks just like the show. Other style took longer and was harder to draw (requires more effort than I put in so mine looks bad).

Are the video game fanatics even an Anti-SJW sect? Both of the drawings they imitated came from Starbomb, which Egoraptor helped with.

Egoraptor and guys like him came from Newgrounds and seem like they really couldn't give much of a shit about social justice (maybe with the exception of Oney and Zach).
