Egoraptor and guys like him came from Newgrounds and seem like they really couldn't give much of a shit about social justice (maybe with the exception of Oney and Zach).

Yeah, but in the case of Oney and Zach they're more upset at people ruining their fun and SJWs just going overboard like with the Apu thing or how people are crazy for writing articles about how the most important thing to add to a game was to sit on a fucking bench. Egoraptor, however, went to bat for Anita Sarkeesian and apparently made a Twitter announcement about how Jontron isn't allowed as a returning guest because he's "racist". So I'd say Egoraptor cares about Social Justice, enough to market to it.

Yeah, Oney and Zach just want to have fun and joke about what they want to joke about.

I was aware that Arin was buddies with Sarkeesian but didn't know he took a swipe at Jontron like that. I'm gonna assume that was in the aftermath of Jon's debate with Destiny?

Yeah, which is really bullshit all things considered. Jontron has a more diverse set crew than Arin does.

I think people don't mind older cartoon style trends because the older styles at least took a lot more fucking effort. The pseudo anime style trend looked really good in shows like Teen titans and Avatar. The Steven universe character design model is fucking easy and lazy. I drew a basic ass Steven universe rip off and my best attempt at one of those superhero/pseudo anime art styles from a cartoon from about 1995-2010 as fast as I could to compare them.

Fucking anatomyless Steven Universe rip off took two minutes and it looks just like the show. Other style took longer and was harder to draw (requires more effort than I put in so mine looks bad).

To add to this, another part of it seems to be the current batch of industry artists appear to be literally incapable of drawing anything else.

I know a lot of people joke about how overused the "lol Calarts" meme is, but it's hard not to notice that with how many of the current studio workers run in the same circles, studied at the same schools, drew from the exact same influences, and rarely ever branch out from their inner circles or current trends that there's a ridiculous amount of stylistic inbreeding going on, spanning across several different networks and studios.

It's lead to a point where, when compared to their more seasoned counterparts like Tartacovsky or McCracken, they simply don't have the necessary skill to adjust their drawing style to fit a different tone and instead resort to forcing whatever they work on to fit their style. Hence the new Tumblrcats or the PPG reboot where every background character looks like they belong to a completely different show while the characters from the original struggle to stay on model.

It's been awhile since I've watched Invader Zim, but he never had any love interests or close relationships other then his robot or that autistic kid he was rivals with.
Making him aromatic and aplatonic would've made more sense, there's multiple instances of him hating everyone else and wanting to be left alone.
