Ugly? Sure. But does it feel wrong like some of the art posted in this thread? No, because Wolverton knew that he was trying to draw something ugly and didn't try to make it appealing. These people believe they can get you to like ugly features, and that's why they fail at art.

What shines through with Wolverton is that despite his art being "ugly," sometimes nightmarishly so, he actually loves his creations.

There is the occasional actually good artist who draws in this tumblr style, but much more often, what it radiates is a loathing of the subject and the audience, and humanity in general. Even this can be pulled off, but it requires actual talent, and open misanthropy has more appeal than simply hating everyone and pretending it's somehow noble and "progressive." Louis-Ferdinand Celine would be a good example of charming misanthropy.

I'll try to not go for low-hanging fruit.

OK, so.

They guys have a very warped perception of what's attractive and what's ugly (that is, our normal conceptions of both, just flipped turned upside down, then repeated ad nauseum until it's dead).

That's not an interpretation I would agree with. Its tempting to say that these people have a warped perception of things, but this is simply not true. I'll go as far even as to say that there isn't any notion of flipped attractiveness or some shit. Quite a few artists that I have seen here understand whats attractive and what's not, they do have knowledge of anatomy. They are deliberate in what they portray. Its idiotic to imply that there is some mental or perceptional corruption going on here. Some of them definitely know what they are doing, and they are doing it on purpose.

And they try to think that what we find ugly is what they think is acceptable. And they're wrong (there's a reason why people mock the fat).

It's interesting that you somehow have managed to calla perception wrong. Wrong in what way? How? If not in perception, then how can a deliberate aesthetic stance be so? And how have you reached the conclusion that the artist must be suffering from an ailment or whatever, based on deliberate production?

I'm all welcome for diversity,

A strange declaration considering you present contradictory objections to what you just said.

and I get the gist of what they're doing, but there's no need to:
a) fuck up preexisting properties to promote your agenda.
In what way does changing the physical identity and attributes of a fictional character constitutes by itself a promotion of one's agenda? Usually the set goals of an ideological group (tumblr in this case) are presented in a clear (and usually obnoxious) manner. They do not make their stance on things hidden most of the time and they are not afraid to call things out. So where's the hidden meaning here? Where's the disingenuity in changing or fucking up prexisting properties of fictional characters?

Further more, how can you support your notion that the artist is deliberately setting an agenda here based solely on changing the above? How did you come to the conclusion that there is even an agenda pushed by the artists, and what texts do you have to support it? So far in this thread i've seen people post images and laugh at them. It wouldn't be hard in this case to find the tumblr of the artist and prove with texts the real reality of things which you purport these artists are doing.

(This is not to say that none of the artists here do not do so. I can certainly pull self evident examples. But I can also pull a shit more that aren't so)

b) make all females look like borderline tranies and all men wimps.
d) make everyone tan, fat, or both, because that's not really diverse now, is it?

Even in the realm of cherry picking this doesn't make any sense. On the first one I only can a few pictures in this thread alone that depict women as trans and men as wannabe ladies, even less so on the claim that everybone (?) is tan, fat or both. You'd have to present a heck of a lot of images in which this perceived homogeneity is present, instead of implying that whenever one of the thing's above is present that there isn't a 'need' to do so. From this thread alone I can post several images where characters are white or black, thin to chubby to fat, and many that don't look like trans.

c) forgo all concepts of anatomy and construction to draw their disgusting-looking images.

I think you just revealed your bias. EDIT: Disregard last statement, I'm an idiot and I read that wrong.

Um, why are you singling me out when this is also the opinion of everyone else on this thread?

Plus these are pretty valid criticisms, they're pretty common problems with most SJWs and their art, and it's clear you're only doing this to white knight them (seeing as you account appears to be activated today and all).

And what bias am I showing here? As I said, I like (or rather, want to like) diversity. But there's barely any representations of proper white people and Asians and frankly, that's not real diversity. Even putting that aside, the art still looks like shit, even by my standards (and they're pretty low).

And if you want examples, look through the damn thread. Those are literally what I'm talking about. The ugly, broken anatomy and lack of representation beyond fat, tan or both (and if there is, it's always something pretty negative, in particular white people looking stupid). Plus the whole "Diverting fictional characters" thing I brought up is problematic becuase they already have established looks. Making them, effectively, low-hanging fruit for people like them.

So really all I'm getting from is is that you hate me, singled me out of literally everyone else, and tried to argue something that can easily be proven against you just by taking a good long look at the thread and reading every single post in it. The fact that you also ignored the last bit of my last post makes me question just you were trying to accomplish here.

Oh and one more thing, I'd implore you to look at the Tumblr sub-section some day. Most of my points (and then some) will still ring true.

New member, one single post and that's your post...I'm going to take a wild guess and say you came here from Tumblr @Arkomeda ?

Not surprised she draws furry porn.
Doesn't look like stuff we've posted here though, maybe one of her friends.

We probably posted some of her art and she's in a tizzy.

Here's her tumblr.

http://arkomeda.tumblr.com/

Protip use different names and avatars. I literally just googled.
Well, that explains the first post of Arkomeda, trying to engage @Jewelsmakerguy by defending the art and extremes of the SJW of Tumblr. As for name change, that would really help some of them especially if they are some Tumblrite who may or may not be semi-famous.

Is a six part tutorial on dicks really necessary.
Perhaps, only if they want to put dicks on everything or something like that.

I like how she said not everyone on tumblr draws everyone as fat or trannies when that's all her blog is.

Considering how much time it looks like went into it, I'm surprised it's not double that in length.

I'm kind of impressed how Tumblr has an "art-style."
One would think that people there want to be unique and different from the rest.
Any group of people calling themselves non-conformists will end up conforming to each other (at least) sooner or later.

Of course, the fact that Tumblr is fond of a small number of animated shows helps narrow their range of artistic influences some more.

Wolverton has an appealing style because he was an excellent draftman and could pull off funny, ugly caricatures. Look at all the different textures and masterful shading in the picture you posted.

Here's some inbred Steven Universe art.

Hahahah what the fuck happened to rose's other arm? Why does tumblr find this beautiful? I can feel the edge cutting my soul in two.
