What befuddles me is that they want to change stories that should logically feature caucasian characters to instead feature various other races, when they could instead just, y'know, use stories that actually feature those races?

Because searching or making a story that takes place in Africa or China would require research and/or work so instead why not just use some pre-existing work they are familiar with and shoehorn a non-white person and justify it with something from history that while it could be true, may of actually just been half-assed reasearched.

Edit: noticed that Elsa and her sister are labelled as Sami. Apparently, they are under the SJW lens of what Sami should look like or something like that.

SJWs don't even know who the fuck the Sami are, would be my guess. They're all just white people to them.

With that in the latter, they wouldn't just be lazy, they might say something along the likes of them not being as well known. In the case of Urduja, the main character gets some love interest and doesn't off the bad guy (no, that is done by a bunch of guys from a rival tribe. That is nothing like saying to hell with differences and uniting against a common foe, nope.) With Kirikou, the main antagonist is a woman which could anger the SJW's, nevermind the fact that she reforms and turns out to not be evil but that doesn't matter because she has to get married in the end (even though she marries under her own consent to the one that helped redeem her). To SJW's, all they could mostly know is freaking Disney. They will never bother to learn about foreign animations that don't have a white lead, not unless they bothered to research.

Actually a very tiny part of my european heart, feels a little bit - dare I say - "offended"?

Snow White, Aurora, Rapunzel and Cinderella are german (Brothers Grimm). Belle is french (French Fairy Tale). Elsa, Anna are probably danish or at least scandinavian... (Hans Christian Andersen) and -ok- Arielle is atlantean (or whatever), but I am pretty sure that Hans Christian Andersen imagined her as white.

You know what would have made this fun? Pocahontas being german, Mulan english, Jasmine canadian and Tiana being french and all of them white as fuck in this re-imagining.

The thing that kills me about this is how the artist's "headcanons" for Mulan, Pocahontas, Tiana, and Jasmine remained untouched and unbutchered because they're already precious POC,(save for the hairy legs and gaudy costumes).

Looks like they used a checklist of non-US countries instead of any rhyme or reason, except the obvious. This feels totally random.
A few are hideous, some look kinda okay, but they are barely recognizable without a nametag on top, so it kinda defeats the purpose. If they aren't even going to resemble the original, why not just design new characters? I think it'd feel less tokenized if it was new stuff.

Even though that could be the majority, someone would of told some of them that the Onion is satire which would no doubt fall on deaf ears. That said, these racebends that have angered tumblrinas have happened before as a joke to them (Steven Universe and MLP). Said tumblrinas reacted in the obvious manner, getting angry over parodic shit no one else would care about except the tumblrinas themselves.

Also worth noting the little subtle weaselwording here. When they do it, it's "Racebending", if it's a way they don't like then it's "Whitewashing"...
