I'll keep an eye on this place but while the moderation is probably going to be somewhat less jackbooted I doubt the forum culture will be any better. Their site rule explicitly talks about LGBT representation so I'm not inclined towards hope here.

I admit I wish I didn't get banned a while back just so I could mine the salt there currently. It really seems like AH.com's Chat is spiraling over realizing that demographics isn't destiny and their insane leftism isn't nearly as popular even online, much less in reality, than they imagined it to be.

Is there anyone there trying to knock some common sense into them?

And you are right to not be inclined towards hope, the mother site is infested and the only reason this isn't obvious at the first glance is that they try to hide it behind corpo-culture.

Literally impossible with the moderation the way it is. I find it incredible that for such a small, niche community there's so many bans handed out. It's to alternate history as NeoGAF is to video games.

Kirk was a complete nothingburger of a conservative. Dude was literally used as a joke among many right wingers of someone who is way too weak and willing to compromise.

The fact people act as if he was some KKK grandwizard or Neonazi is proof that they are delusional communists.

We're now up to 19 different users cheering Kirk's death, including one who said his family would be better off without him and calling another user revolting for daring to show basic human empathy. I have not included anyone I already screenshotted who are still gravedancing on this man. Where are the normally ban happy mods?

I am loathe to double post, but I was curious as to whether any of the above comments or myriad number of new ones had merited any kind of action by the moderators. I checked the "Kick and Ban Thread" and here are the most recent actions:

Ian and CalBear seem to have completely abrogated any responsibility for reigning in their most unhinged users in order to crack down on imaginary racism. Peak windmill crusading.

In what fucking universe is alternatehistory.com a "mainstream website"? Kiwi Farms has more users and relevance then this shambling zombie of a history forum. Virtually ever Youtuber that AH.comers shit on have far more reach and input on the genre then anything coming out of their site.

These people not only live in echo chambers, they are PROUD of the fact they don't know or understand their enemies. They think even hearing their enemies explain themselves in their own words is some sort of cognitohazard which will cause them physical pain.
