And also according to the OP, its a gun *the guy made himself*.

This pretty much shoots a hole in pretty much every Gun Control argument ever.
More specifically, it’s a gun the guy made himself basically from parts you can find at a Home Depot. Or whatever the Japanese equivalent of a Home Depot is. Plus homemade gunpowder made from - again - basic, easily obtainable chemical ingredients.

The end result isn’t going to out-gun a modern firearm in a proper shootout, but it’s more than sufficient for executing patrolling soldiers.

Homu Depo
sorry i couldn't resist

This is all so strange, that he shot Abe bc he was a part of a church that made assassin's mother give all her money to it. If that's the real reason i would really like to know more about it. Japs are so weird.
I just don't get it. Why would he shooting Abe have any impact on that church?

You obviously underestimate the retardation of gun control advocates. Somehow, the fact that he made his own gun is proof that gun control works. How exactly that makes sense, I have no fuckin' clue.
Gun Control Advocates basically live in la-la land. Nothing they say makes any sense.

I recall once getting into an argument where after presenting facts... they started sperging about movies, of all things. 1980s movies too. Saying that the Film Industry glorifies guns and stuff. Again, all their examples were from the 1980s, and even then only dubiously true (one of theirs was Predator, a movie where guns... DON'T kill the Predator).

Basically I think the shooter somehow came to believe Abe ran the church. That's what I gleaned from reading this topic.

There are rumors abound that his disappointment with his mother and moonies might just be related to him belonging to the Sanctuary Church (the church ran by Moon's son), known to be hard gun worshipers.
The Japanese branch of the Sanctuary Church has been doing a lot of gun related events in Japan, so if true, Abe was essentially gunned down due to sectarianism.
Some more recent 'confessions' have cited him wanting to gun down actual church officials and have been planning for that, and Abe was just a target of convenience due to proximity after failing to fully approach moonies

Purported visual confirmation of Yamagami attending a Sanctuary Church related event

The cult leader responsible for gas attack got lethal injection if memory serves
Japan doesn't do lethal injection. They only have one method of execution on the books; a long drop and a sudden stop with a rope around your neck.

so what heard is the assassins mother was part of the Sanctuary Church and pretty much gave away her entire savings. so the assassin had to jump out of university. Abe apparently was part of said church and might have influenced the mother into joining it in the first place.
From what I know, scenarios such as these are nothing new when it comes to cults in Japan. These cults pop up in such a bizarre fashion. For example, an owner of a store, bar, restaurant, hot spring, etc. develops an interest in the subjects of religion and delve into their studies, only for them to cross wires and convince themselves - give or take the next day or so - that they're either God reborn, a messiah, or a disciple/divine follower/chosen one of God or whatever. From the well-known Unification Church, to the infamous Aum Shinrikyo, these cults sustain and thrive off from the money pool and influences they themselves created from extravagant membership prices, monetary indulgences, and support from initiates, loyal members, and high-profile people.

For the gullible, these people are willing to pay a large sum in order to join these cults and receive spiritual and divine blessings from the cult leaders, even if it means screwing themselves and other family members over their life savings and livelihoods.

Rate me late but I haven't seen nor heard any memorial services for this guy. Did he get buried already in a private service or is his body being held for criminal investigation purposes still?

I looked it up. Apparently there was a small private funeral on July 12, though it was preceded by a public hearse procession. His body was cremated afterwards (which from what I understand is far more common than burial in Japan), so there won't be any lying in state or anything (which is fine with me since I find that idea rather weird and gross). The government is planning to have a much larger state funeral on September 27.

So it turned out that Tetsuya Yamagami - Abe's killer was right all along. Not with what he did but with what he said.

Abe is connected to the South Korean cult of the Unification Church. His grandfather brought the cult to japan and Abe was involved as well. It's not just him but 179 members of his party are supposedly connected and the more crazy thing is that the unification church is extremly anti japanese. Like japanese people who join the church get guilt tripped and japanese women who marry south korean cultists are being told to serve them.

Here is a video that explains it all really well not just that but it shows the japanese side.

The cult ruined the entire family of Abe's killer. His mother became completely obsessed with it and neglegted her 3 children to the point of leaving for South Korea and leaving them alone in the house with no food. And this cult basically ruled Japanese politics for decades. It's all comig to light slowly and it's a huge fucking deal in japan. Now I feel very sorry for Mr. Yamagami. He is a murderer but what lead to it all started with a South Korean cult and Shinzo Abe's grandfather.

Oh also the Unification church has ties to the infamous Aum Shinrikyo cult.
