Not really? You need metal of some kind and black powder. That's trivial to get.

From what we've seen, this was basically two shrapnel pipe bombs strapped to a 2x4 with an electric igniter and one side open to direct the blast. I think just about any one of us given 5 minutes on google or youtube could have made this "gun." In fact, without any knowledge, lets see:

There's your gunpowder.

Ammo... first thing that comes to mind, since I use them for weighing down Warhammer 40k bases and they're on my desk -- Sinker for fishing. オモリ. There's your "ammo." (Use bolt cutters to chop them up into smaller pieces, I guess?)

Battery from an RC car or similar, just needs to arc across a small air gap wire circuit. Grip from any number of plastic toys to complete that circuit. 2x4 and pipes + pipe ends from any hardware store or construction site (they're ubiquitous in Japan). You could use nuts/bolts/nails/etc from the same hardware store, too. Some electrical (or duct) tape to hole it all together. (My theory on the 3x3 one with an iPhone, if that is a phone, is that he was hoping to set up a turret or remote controlled version, but that's just spitballing.)

This will, I won't say get memory holed, but I doubt this will help the Gun Grabber agenda. This guy made something literally any reasonably handy person could make. Note that 5 minutes ago I wouldn't have known how to make this, I literally just took what we've seen and did a few minutes of research, and I'm a glorified computer janitor. And yes, 100% ABSOLUTELY got myself on a government watchlist by searching "how to make black powder" and the like, I'm sure.

No amount of gun control could have stopped this. Somewhere, the elites of the world are sleeping a little less sound tonight.

Smokeless gunpowder and the cartridge is an old ass invention and if ammo started to reach a dollar or two per round on the black market, you’d see illegal little workshops shoot up everwhere to make homemade bullets.

If you jump on to forgotten weapons youtube, you’ll get to see some pretty cool semiautomatics and SMGs a Britfag made back in the 90ies.

He wasn’t a gunsmith, just a guy determined to make an SMG out of stuff you can buy in a hardware store to troll everyone and show it was possible.

I believe he got in some legal problems, but his fully functional and well made weapons made it to a firearms museum.

If Hamas in Gaza can make homemade SMGs based on an old, simple Swedish design, pretty much anyone can do it.

I don’t know why the west romanticise Japan so much when it seems so Insular and revengeful.
After the Commies won the Chinese Civil War and the Korean War was waging the West needed every buffer in eastern Asia they could get.
Same reason everyone romanticizes us as blond and white cowboys that sell propane and propane accessories when we’re just afro indio mutts(insert zoomer haircut, the curly mop thing) with violent tendencies that surpass autistic spergs that sell propain and propain accessories

The Cartoons.

Forgotten Weapons also had a video of handmade poacher's guns from Zimbabwe. They'd get makeshift black powder from grinding up match heads (which is very dangerous) or stealing tiny bits of mining fuses.

You're thinking of P.A. Luty. English Uber Chad.

It all makes sense now

They’ve been amogus the entire time

Don't a number of Japanese also believe in Shinto, which teaches that the spirits of the deceased live on instead of reincarnating - and may even become kami? And in any case, doesn't the average Japanese person not really take traditional religions too seriously, nor the contradictions between them?
Both of those are a "yes".

Man I learned how to make black powder from a kids' show in elementary school. They even had tips for gathering saltpetre.

Even if we banned piss and cave bats it's arguably almost easier to go more medieval anyway if you're getting within five metres of your target. Crossbows are alive and well on youtube; airguns are an amazing use of plumbing supplies with barely any moving parts; and I think people underestimate what you can do with just a piece of rubber. I had a slingshot as a kid that could put steel balls through the side of a house two yards and a street away while bouncing on a trampoline.

Gook Moot put out a video talking about Abe's assassination. I don't speak moon runes, but from what I can gather he talks about how easy it is to make bombs and guns, compares the attack to the KyoAni studio arson and speculates that this will lead to tighter internet security/restrictions on internet speech.

And then he goes on to explain why this is the perfect time to buy a 4chan pass.

I dunno, this is a generation gap that I can't get over. The idea that people need to settle seems insane to me because the results of settling around me in my middleaged life are pretty bad. But I think the sexual/social/romantic environment for young people is so drastically different that I don't think I can even understand it.
Like I said, it's not about settling ,but being realistic. There are way too many incels and femcels who have a unrealistic view of what a partner should be. Like I've said, I've had to persuade multiple people that it's easier to find a decently good match and perhaps aim to mold them more to your liking rather than waiting for the perfect match. And I wouldn't recommend this if it wasn't for the fact that these people are obviously not happy about not having a partner. Some people can handle being alone, but I see way more people who think they are that kind of person and being an absolute wreck.
this on the other hand is you being old and out of touch, even if you're actually not old. When I was young, women didn't know this. They know now. They don't care. They'd rather sacrifice motherhood than be tied to a loser who acts like another child.

And the days of dudes turning it around and getting with a hottie right out of undergrad are *over.* That was absolutely a thing in the before times, it's not anymore. When I was young in the 90s a 5-15 year age gap for a serious relationship or marriage was absoltuely a real possibility, I know tons of people like that - it's one of the reasons I sideeye "just settle!" because the reasons those marriages worked is that both people thought the other one was a magical gift from heaven. But we don't live in that world any more and the reasons those guys were unmarried for that long are totally different from NEETs. There is no benefit in the 21st century to a young woman in getting with some autist who just figured out how to use deodorant and get a job. What good is he to her? What do they have in common? Why would she want an old tired dad for her kids? If anyone needs to be accepting reality and being realistic about their options, it's those dudes - and the ones who are even remotely acceptable dating prospects know it, and they're great boyfriends and husbands to age-appropriate women. They're not wasting young women's time.
Maybe being in my late 20s is being old and out of touch, but I think you misunderstand. Obviously no woman wants to be tied down to a manchild, but it's hilarious how many women on the same mental level as the manchildren absolutely refuse to consider that they're not the princess they think they are.
And relationships with significant age gaps still dominate. My girlfriend is only 5 years younger than me, but I have plenty of male colleagues with wives way, way, younger than themselves. And it's a irrefutable fact that a man can start a family much more later in life than a women, it might happen not as often as back when you had arranged marriages and smaller communities, but it still happens way more often than an older woman being married to a younger man.

Didn't the Viet Cong straight up make submachineguns out of shitty little underground workshops also?
Amateur-made firearms show up in conflict zones the world over. Where there's a will, there's a way. Pakis in the Khyber Pass can Tony Stark a crude facsimile of an AK together, or are still using the muskets and Enfields their great-grandfathers used to pick off British colonists.

And the Warlord Era in pre-commie China saw a plethora of shed-made mystery pistols.

I shudder to think what would happen if the con colleges where just emptied and its hoards let lose during a apocalypse scenario. I've seen imates minecraft some seriously ingenious weaponry

I will never understand what makes someone not only decide to take the life of another human being, but then decide that the person they kill should be someone other than Boogie.

RIP Shinzo Abe. Pretty much singlehandedly saved Japans economy and united the country after 5 back to back failures of prime ministers. Yes, he had his controversies and enemies, but he didn't deserve this. He was a good man who will be missed.

they don't have any elastic. I'm literally talking poverty shorts you'd expect from the standing army of 1950s Myanmar, not the standing army of a nation from the modern era with a massive military focus.
Welp hopefully you don’t discover how many things the US military uses drawstring for though it’s usually combo’s with tactical military grade hook & loops or plastic clips

I’d also like to add that the reason I largely avoided speaking on a subject like this is that it seems we keep regurgitating reasons why anime is a mistake, or why lone wolf “incels” are sexually frustrated people who have to take their anger and distate out on people who they don’t like.

The fact is that desperate people kill people, even others that want nothing to do with this. If I recall, Japan has more suicides and stabbings than gun deaths, but no one ever talks about that.

Either way, I didn’t want to derail this thread with that back and forth as said above.
Enough with weeaboo apologism !
