you have to legitimately wonder how Sega is still alive
Because its just a brand/front for sammy, a scummy company whose main business are shady pachinko parlors and resorts that might just be there for money laundering.

They themselves said they bought SEGA because they needed a nice brand, that's all.
someone at Sega said the code for the saturn was too complicated or something which is why there would never be a saturn-mini in the near future.
"Miniaturization"? this retard stuck in the 60's? you can emulate a Saturn on any cheapo rpi-like SBC now, even the MiSTER has a Saturn core now.

Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are the two I'm looking forward to the most. Unlike Golden Axe, these feel like fresh updates while still keeping the spirit of the originals.

the only possible reason I can think of is that Reiko Kodama, Shuntaro Tanaka, and Atsushi Seimiya got together and pulled a harmless prank on a SEGA executive during Legends' development (put a whoopee cushion under his seat, or something) and said executive got so pissed he vowed to never re-release SoA on any platform again

I remember that. I think it was silly of Sega to cancel the game because the re-designed Vectorman was too similar to Master Chief. Why not just change his design? Shame too, the game could have had potential.

From the pics and vids, I can see how people would think that

Upgrading him to a 2.0 version is fine, but the fact that he needs a gun and a stock of grenades and grappling hooks seems like a downgrade IMO, considering the 1.0 version could blast shit out of his hands. I didn't even see a transformation, which is part of what made vectorman cool in the first place since he could shapeshift into anything when he touched a power-up.
 
I saw the trailer when it dropped. Despite it being obvious these games are, ahem, "in development" (and that none of this footage is actual gameplay), I got pretty excited.

Except for Streets of Rage. SoR4 is one of my favorite things ever, and it's a miracle it turned out so great. Trying to take SoR into 3D is a terrible idea that probably won't work. I'm fact, I can't think of any proper beat-em-up that ever worked in 3D.

(Aside: Lol @ Sega belatedly realizing they left money on the table by letting Team Reptile make the exceptionally good Bomb Rush Cyberfunk while they slept. Big corporation acting like a big corporation. If Naganuma doesn't do the entire soundtrack, they might as well not bother. Or just "borrow" the fan made soundtrack to Jet Set Radio Evolution.)

Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi making a comeback are also all welcome news. I can only pray a proper Phantasy Star sequel gets made as well, but I know that's not going to happen. (Same for Shenmue 4, a series I will never stop hoping gets finished by some miracle.)
 
Forgot to mention how assmad my internal fanboy is that we haven't gotten a proper Shining Force since, what, the GBA remake of 1? SF and Fire Emblem forced the other franchise to get better. We need that in that world.

Fucked up that stuff more niche and obscure like Front Mission and Langrisser are getting remakes but SEGA absolutely refuse to revisit the old style shining which was vastly more popular than Fire Emblem used to be

(the Company) hereby notifies that it has resolved to transfer Amusement Machine business of SEGA CORPORATION (SEGA), a consolidated subsidiary of the Company, to SEGA TOYS CO., LTD. (SEGA TOYS), also a consolidated subsidiary of the Company, through an absorption-type demerger and to change the trade name of the successor company, SEGA TOYS at its Board of Directors meeting held today as described below

  1. Background and Purpose of Organizational Restructure
The Group has established its Medium-term Plan, “Beyond the Status Quo -Breaking the Current Situation and Becoming a Sustainable Company-“, which position the fiscal year ending March 2024 as the final year, and has been working to expand its corporate value.

In the Entertainment Contents Business, mainly in the Consumer area, we promoted the Pillar Strategy, which focuses on multi-platform roll-out and simultaneous global launch of major titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog series, Persona series, Like a Dragon series and others, and we have steadily implemented that strategy.

In the next Medium-term Plan, which is currently under the formulation, we set strengthening of transmedia as one of the key strategies for the Entertainment Contents Business in order to expand the Pillar Strategy and move on to the next stage. In Sonic the Hedgehog series, one of our core IPs, we have achieved significant growth in the game, animation, merchandising, licensing and other businesses, starting with the blockbuster success of the movie, and has been accumulating expertise in transmedia development in the global market. Going forward, the Group will seek to further enhance its main IPs by maximizing the use of its expertise under the transmedia strategy and by steering the Group towards a policy of maximizing Group synergies by combining the strengths of each business, such as Amusement Machines, Animation / Toy and others.

As part of the promotion of the transmedia strategy, we have decided to establish a new business unit by integrating the Amusement Machine business and Toy businesses, prior to the announcement of the next Medium-term Plan. In the various entertainment scenes of modern society, the value of seamless experiences from the digital to the physical and real world is expanding greatly, and the community of people fostered there is showing unique development as pop culture symbolizing Japan, as represented by the term “oshi-katsu (actions supporting one’s fave)”. Such trend is also expected to expand at a global level in the future.

In the midst of the great business opportunities presented by these megatrends, we integrate our Amusement Machine business and Toy business, aiming to provide people with new entertainment based on the strengths of the mutual businesses and to offer a comfortable time and place in many scenes, and create new experiential value. In addition, in order to proceed the integration of both businesses in stages, the integrated company will initially adopt an In-House Company System for its organizational structure.

....sorry I'm a dumbass when it comes to legalese, how is this significant?
starting on April 1st, Shuji Utsumi will be taking the helm of COO/President of SEGA, and CEO of Sega of America and Europe.

Also they are re-organizing their company by transferring its amusement business to their SEGA Toys division, forming the new "SEGA Fave Corporation", headed by Yukio Sugino. Cited as a driving force for this decision is the continued development of games like the Sonic, Like a Dragon, and Persona series.
