Kevorkian was sentenced for actually hooking up his device to a patient (who had ALS and could not do it himself), then performing the actual act of turning it on, making it second degree murder. He had participated and even assisted in a number of suicides prior to that without being charged, because he hadn't committed a crime.

Are you saying he literally has gone to someone's house, hooked up a suicide device to him, and pushed the button?
