Generally, society still treats suicidal people as lepers despite all the bullshit talk about mental health and you can't even discuss your real thoughts with anyone unless you are really close to them. 'It will get better, trust me' is one of the most fucking useless advices in existence, gee I am sure that my lost legs will magically reconstruct themselves, any day now!
Disagree. The stigma of mental illness is much reduced in the West. Compare it to Russia or China, where the state can institutionalize you indefinitely (sometimes as an excuse to punish you for political conduct) — that is stigma.
Also, you’re not an amputee, but if you were, you could still have a life worth living. You’re not forever alone or dying of heart disease either. The fact that everybody dies at some point isn’t a compelling case for taking matters into your own hands and dying now; if anything, I think it weakens the premise that suicide offers you control. It isn’t you choosing to absent yourself or “escape” pain. It’s just dying before your time is up. Your intense fixation on loss and pain is why I have no problems calling you brain sick.
If you get a gift you don't want, you can take that shit back to the store and return it.
*insert parable of the talents here*
Your parents, and God also, are different from the Apple Store in that you can’t “return” your life to them so they can give it someone more worthy and appreciative. You can’t settle your accounts with God by just giving up your life and handing it back to him. And seeing as suicide will leave ripples of hurt through the lives of everyone connected to you, I can’t condone an action that would take so much from others who love you. Lowtax is a good example: I don’t think anybody felt happy he died, I think most people in his orbit felt sad and angry that he killed himself, even though his “reasons” for doing so were pretty compelling.
Shitstains like this freak don't actually care about suicidal people. They just want to lord it over them how superior they are.
According to this disgusting person, suicidal people shouldn't be allowed to talk to each other at all, at least without the supervision of control freaks like her.
"People" like this literally believe choices about other people's lives are up to them. This is why people who think their choices are their own utterly hate and detest them.
Oy vey, you want to pass the salt or hog it for yourself? The Sanctioned Suicide club might think killing yourself is based and rational; I disagree. And I hardly think myself superior; more like I’ve been here, and I’ve seen other people in my life be here, and I’ve recovered, but I think participation in Suicide Squad forum would have made it much more difficult to achieve that recovery. Do you even read what I
write before you slag me off?
@a founder - refreshing of you to admit that if I were saying these things on SS I’d get banned for taunting the poor, suicide-romanticizing 20-somethings that form your used base.
Since I can’t get banned for asking here: why is giving suicidal people a place to count grievances and plan their own deaths so important to you? I doubt it’s just a platonic ideal of free speech, if it were then people like me would be welcome over there. I’m kinda thinking you’re in much the same mental state as your users. You’re fixated on suicide as a solution to your perceived ills and think you’d be around somehow to enjoy the relief of not being alive anymore, which you would not be.
