I haven't watched any of his new standup if he's gone back to it at all, but it's a tossup in my experience. It's either the funniest shit ever that my friends and I quote all the time like Gutta Man or the comedian from Boiston who tells real stories about Boiston, or you get good ideas like the Muslim clock that he ruins by going on a diatribe about how "the eyes of history are on us fellow white-folk!" I don't think getting completely rehabilitated for more professional comedians was really going to happen no matter how this went. His reputation has been kinda fucked for that since Adult Swim.

I imagine this was more about getting into more podcasts and getting attention to World Peace to maybe do more as an independent creator, but now he's shown off how he'll sperg out on people's shows so there's not much reason to invite him on (since who wants to deal with the cost of possible damages or having him just randomly shouting Heil Hitler?).

No, Shane Gillis opened that door for a while now. Shane just was committed to being funny and wasn't going out of his way to sabotage himself. Sam actually became quite good for a while at avoiding digging a hole for himself when he was testing waters trying to get back to YT.

What's hard for Sam Hyde's fans to understand is that Sam is just one of the self-sabotaging guys with father issues. It's hard for them to understand because they have them too, that's why they're his fans. Shane doesn't have father issues, his buddy Nick doesn't either, and Nick is the one that brough the Adult Swim deal to Sam. Sam has said that Patrice O'Neal is his favorite comedian, and he had similar self-sabotaging antics.

It's not like Sam's act is clean. He's trying to be a Malcolm X kind of figure for dissatisfied young Americans in one breath but then he's a comedian borating civilians or making garbage like Fishtank in another. So it comes off as hypocritical when he's trying to hold a professional clown like Harland to answer for the rot.

What I don’t understand is that Nick is the funny one. He’s got comedy connections (he had Tim Dillon on his stream for example.) He’s got a business brain. Why has he still got his wagon hitched to a toxic cow like Sam?

Surely he’d be better off trying to strike it out on his own and build up his own brand away from someone whose sperging will just isolate him from all the “Brazilians“ in the business?

From what little I've heard of Sam's newer stand up (not that I haven't tried my ass off looking for it, they really don't want people outside of their circle watching their live show in full, wonder why) I hear a lot of clapping and cheering instead of laughing. Sam's stand up sucks but not because he isn't funny, it's just not his game and the audience that played a HUGE part in making his old stand up somewhat funny isn't there anymore.

I've seen a couple of Sam's other recent podcast interviews and he's stated outright that he doesn't particularly enjoy standup, doesn't see it as high art (I would agree with this, comedians who treat standup like it's super-serious business are faggots) and that he's mostly doing the stand-up tour as a cash grab post-WP2 and to have fun meeting fans instead of streaming.

Part of the problem with his old standup is that after attaining a certain level of notoriety you really can't keep doing it. There's only so many hole-in-the-wall clubs where no one will know who you are or what to expect (Nathan Fielder had this same problem after he got recognizable from Nathan For You). It worked really well in 2013 because no one knew who the fuck he was and they just saw a 6'4" neckbeard on stage monologuing a giant schizopost and getting yelled at by tumblr hipsters.
