No you're conflating that with different deeplore. The story is that a few years ago, Sam got in an accident while some other friend of his was in the car. The other dude quit hanging out with him after this. Idk who it was, but there used to be some emails and dms that people would share, and like everything else around Sam, there was no indisputable smoking gun. This was back during his neck brace era in like 2017/2018 if I recall. Usually when the story was shared it included speculation about cars he totaled that his dad had bought for him. Frankly I believe it just because Sam unironically likes erratic driving. He does it in videos, he talks about doing it on his podcast, and he likes to watch videos of deranged hood rats speeding around in cluttered urban roadways on pgl sometimes. They like to shit on gambling a lot, but I'd say reckless driving is way shittier. People can cut a gambler out of their life easier than a family of four can guarantee that a driver who "really knows what he's doing" isn't sharing the road with them.
I've made some bad calls before, and I can understand being confused about interrupting intent given the circumstances, but Nick's "reaction" was CLEARLY performative. Whether it was a cope performance or not is up for debate, but it was drenched in sarcasm. Whoever doesn't see that is genuinely autistic.
Harland was nothing short of brilliant in handling the whole situation, that should not be seen as detracting from Sam for any reason. He really proved himself and the glazing is deserved in this case. My understanding is that he went to Germany for a few years to continue studying animation so he could create the show Puppy Dog Pals, which... I don't know... is kind of sweet and endearing in a way.
I didn't watch Harland's podcast (sorry, I'm not into stuff that makes me cringe) but how hard was it to salvage the situation? Nick starts doing the same bit he did on Matan's podcast while the actress trashed the set - rolling his eyes and complaining ('I swear to God, this happens every time, we can't go anywhere because this guy acts crazy') meanwhile somebody else goes up to Harland with a panicked face and tries to convince him that he should never release this footage because it would ruin Sam's reputation and career prospects. 'How much money do we have to pay you to forget that today happened? Oh shit, I only have a dollar in my pocket, is that enough? Look, man, you have to help us out here, we have a show coming up, we can't be dealing with publicity like this' and so on. Sam brought four professional comedians with him and they all just watched him bomb live. Which I guess isn't that uncommon of an experience according to what I've heard about his standup, but still.
This amount of Wigger Worship is getting out of hand. Sam is not about to save the white race by being unfunny on a comedy podcast promoting his unfunny show. Sam Hyde is not your dad, you are getting paid 0 dollars and 0 cents to defend him, he does not even know you exist.
Charls is legitimately mental. Love the guy but his usual mode is being off kilter and deranged with very occasional moments of clarity and brilliance that come together amidst utter nonsense.
It's just spergs that eternally seethe about Sam anyway who think this whole thing is serious. It's not. I seriously doubt Harland has any hard feelings against Sam or the MDE crew, Harland runs a very goofy show that makes their guests flip out all the time, Sam just upped the ante in this episode. Sure, Harland roasted Sam a bit, nothing wrong with that, but if someone brings it up to Sam I would expect him to just laugh about it.

Because everyone has been blowing up their notifications asking about it and maybe they wanted to talk about since they were there, people are interested, and they thought it was funny? Nick was literally just making fun of spergs like you saying his career is over in his chat on stream, he wasn't "running cover" lol

Pretty much this. Been following these guys since wp was cancelled, and it's been a long fuckin time. After a while you start to notice Sam is seriously immature. It's not just a bit, or some latent aspect of his psyche that he's tapping into. The dude just has fucking problems. One of the worst examples is the Blacklisted Desperados episode of HydeWars, where he sits in a back yard with a cigar and spends an hour insinuating that literally everyone at the top of Adult Swim is a psychotic pedophile. This is based off of Eric Wareheim's questionable choices in extremely young women, and some Cherub wallpaper in one of the executive bathrooms. He also goes off about some woman in the company who he says is just there to be a slampig or something like that. He says he knows this cause he fucked her too or something to that effect. Bear in mind he later went on to apologize to Charls, and openly admits that the cancellation was due to his choices. This is years after going off on Tim Heidecker, and taking swings at every other creator who worked at Adult Swim. In all that time watching them, I've had to grow up considerably just like everyone else, and it's pathetic the way that nigga acts sometimes. It's hard to imagine that there are people out there who've been MDE fans all this time and haven't had to slowly cut a few guys like Sam out of their life before. There's people you can get high with til you're about 25 and after that it's time to hang out with niggas that mow a lawn, or build model planes, or are super into eclectic boardgames. You have to stand by during one too many altercations, or watch them pop off talking shit about a waitress for a half hour one too many times, and you find yourself in a fugue state in the Home Depot, trying to build a garden for a house you'll never be able to afford.
oh, yeah, sam's fuck up is such a non-issue that they have to make videos now addressing it
