So after all that shit from last time Shkanontrice calls up Maria to send her off to whatever her test is, then Battler grabs the phone and Beatrice changes her plans to have Kinzo(dead) do whatever Maria's test is (admittedly it seems to just be "go to the kitchen and eat poison lol" which doesn't require much interaction if Maria can be trusted to follow orders, but still)... and also the Beatrice on the phone is absolutely smashed off her quasi-existent tits on whatever Kinzo's been hoarding up in his study, meaning she either got smashed in record time or she did all that whatever the fuck she did with Jessica and Kyrie while drunk. Wonderful.

And then we get to the infamous Asumu red which leads to the bizarre dangling plot point about Battler being Kyrie's son, which connects to nothing, adds nothing and accomplishes nothing.

For fuck's saaaaake.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the "Battler proceeded from Kyrie's vagina" reveal was a retcon but I'm not sure Beatrice trolling Battler over a technicality is any better.
 
When in doubt, just go to silent hill instead. It’s what Ryukishi himself did and even that strange place makes way more sense than anything that hack ever wrote. Wouldn’t be surprised if he threw in a ton of umineko bullshit like this.

I wonder if Ryukishi sold the rights to his works to Entergram, since some of his former staff works there now too.
 
I think that the reveal of Kyrie being Battlers mom was to cement On every Level she indeed Was. I think that bit was more for Japanese sensibilities more than anything else.
Like, now Ange's obsession with saving Battler is more valid in the eyes of a Japanese Reader/viewer cause they really are full blood related . They're very hung up on genealogy like that.

Kinda sad cause it's at the cost of invalidating Asumu. Maybe she was going to be more important Down the line, like maybe even Connected to Beatrice somehow, but it all got dropped towards The end?

No more odd than what he did with Eva.
He spent the first half painting her out to be the murderer and spiteful of Angie being the only living child left, only to totally do a 180 and then present her as the most kindest, wonderful, loving of mother figures in the series.
When I think about that, I gotta wonder what the man was smoking.
 
He did about the same with Bernkastel. At first she's a capricious ally, offering someone who seems to be Battler aid, helping Ange even if she seems to be... slightly manipulative, and then she just becomes a cartoon character later on. Somewhere I found a translated quote from Ryukishi expressing bafflement that Bernkastel ranked too high in the character polls, when actually she's bad person who told Ange to jump off a building. But that wasn't Bern telling Ange to kys, it was her encouraging Ange to go seek the truth, it was like a metaphorical thing man. It's like he forgot his own writing's depth in that moment and only comprehended the surface level of it.
 
I agree for the most with that, though I don't Think Bernkastel was ever honestly meant to be good in any capacity, I always got the vibe through and through she was just doing this cause she was bored, and torturing a a bishie like Batter was fun to her.
If what you're saying about Ryukishi is true, I'd say he was annoyed that no one was taking her "seriously" in the role of ambiguously malicious character, and that's why he up the ante to such comical levels.
I'll still say: "Boy, what where you smoking to let it all fall apart like that?"
 
Honestly, in a vacuum without any of the Yasu and meta shit, I think the cobcept of witches are cool. They're esstentianly cosmic being that have gotten so bored that they begin playing out tragedies like its a game.
Its not wholly original, but it would have been a nice commantary on how humans view irl crime shit. Hell, we just had some true crime chick get photos of a dead child for patreon bucks.
Of course Ryukishi has to ruin it by ryukking all over the place.
 
Awww yeah, it's Spooky Month again, time for my annual rewatch. The hubby hasn't watched an episode since... oh shit, think since last June with the Eye-Opening arc. Gonna have this rewatch be a refresher for him to build up to Atonement on Halloween night, and then get him into Kai going forward.

I haven't touched the Umineko sound novel since the wedding, haven't had the time for it. I still have the manga out, might as well just read that since it only takes a couple hours to finish an omnibus.
 
So in Reiwa, there's no more treatment for Hinamizawa Syndrome because Irie ran out of money. Yeah...

Anyway, here's the new Meguri chapter. Our next update is in December.
