@Kari Kamiya
I'm not sure what you wanted me to clip so I just clipped what I thought were some of the worst bits in the episode, including Rika being thrown across the dump

Mainly was asking for the fight sequence, but you pretty much got everything that was wrong in animation to put in one post. I can't fucking believe the orbital camera has dips like one of those kiddie spinny rides when it should just stay level while rotating around, I thought I was seeing things.

Latest manga chapter dropped, covering the end of Nekodamashi, as a third part to chapter 15. It covers the events after the gun scene with Rika meeting Hanyuu for the last time, getting her memory upgrade, and learning about the sword, which makes Satoko killing Rika make a lot more sense since she obviously couldn't know that Rika would remember yet.
Interestingly, the following manga will not use Sotsu as its title, instead going with Jun (巡), and claims to have different answers from the anime. I'm not sure if it'll actually be good, but at least it'll be more interesting than slavishly following what we already saw.

So how did the fight scene even work? Did the girls just drop into random versions of themselves through fragments and started immediately fighting with Satoko always winning? Is it some metaphorical witch shit and in reality they are just slapping each other in the real world? What's even the point of fighting each other with the "kill loopers" sword since Rika will either die and get released or Satoko dies and Rika can continue in another world with a sane Satoko?

Given the kanji means "cycles", it stands to reason it makes much more sense as a title than "graduating" did. Like legit, what even was so "graduating" about this season?

It's probably just meant to show the rules of the game falling apart as Satoko and Rika rapidly become less and less human, so while it starts with them dying in each world, it eventually escalates to them moving between fragments after merely getting hit, and by the end they just jump randomly without cause.

You could even tie it into the part of Minagoroshi that implies that Rika was on the verge of breaking apart and wouldn't be able to even live normally in the loops any more, though that's probably putting more thought into it than any of the writers did.

It's Ryukishi graduating from the idea that stories need to be coherent. Why bother writing a focused, tight stories with a central theme when you can just slap things together and call it a day?
I really don't have issue with the basic concept of Sotsugyou, and if Ryukishi wants to write a story about Satoko and Rika losing their humanity because Satoko doesn't want to study and Rika doesn't want to learn to ride a unicycle, that's fine, even if it's tonally out of place for Higurashi, but he really shouldn't have been so incredibly dishonest about it.
The only arcs that actually matter are Nekodamashi, Satokowashi, parts of Tatariakashi, and Kagurashi, and the other arcs could be discarded and you really wouldn't lose anything of importance. The rest of the club, and especially Keiichi were hyped up as being important, but nothing interesting is done with their characters and they're completely irrelevant to the main conflict.
Sure, the original shifted genres, too, and a good chunk of the main cast kinda sucked in Matsuribayashi, but at least all the arcs were still critical in building up towards the finale. If Keiichi hadn't shown Rika and Hanyuu that it was possible to change fate, none of that could've happened. If the show made it clear early on that it was a story centred on Rika and Satoko, and the rest of the group would be relegated to a supporting role at most, it would be a lot less upsetting, and definitely would've been less of a mess. It could've actually focused on how much Rika wants Satoko to be with her, and why, instead of only having a handful of lines alluding towards it, with it only coming to the forefront in the penultimate episode. That's something you really want to build up to more.
Seriously, they should understand that a story needs focus. Choose what you actually want your story to be, don't spend weeks showing a pointless mystery twice, instead of focusing on the actual plot. It's just tedious and boring to watch, and that's the greatest sin a story could commit.

It's amazing that 80% of Sotsu has been footage reused from Gou and yet the animation for the remaining 20% is subpar even by the standards of shitty seasonal anime. The only time this entire show has looked even good was Rika's dance, which is why Passione reused it half a dozen times, otherwise anything aside from the most basic "mouth flap on static face while the camera pans" shot has looked awful. Either Passione are the most incompetent studio since whoever made Chargeman Ken or this whole anime has been a money laundering scheme to enrich R07 so he never has to finish Ciconia because there is no way that there was much time, money or effort put into this.
Literally the Naruto vs Sasuke fight. Remember when Higurashi was a fucking horror/mystery series with light supernatural elements? That was nice.

Meanwhile on plebbit:

"OMG SO EPIC! THIS IS ONE OF THE TOP FIGHTS WITH NARUTO AND DBZ SUPER!!!11! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TO FLOW INTO UMINEKO!! THIS IS A PERFECTLY NATURAL EVOLUTION OF SATOKK'S CHARACTER BECAUSE SHE WAS ABUSED AND HAD ATTACHMENT AND ABANDONMENT ISSUES THAT THE ORIGINAL DIDN'T RESOLVE!!#"

Actually, half the Higurashi subreddit hates this. The other half is exactly as you described.

Anyway, here's Satoshi's character song:

I was reading the Episode 14 thread on the latter.
Episode 14 broke people at long last. Somehow they held on to hope that it would get better until then. Somehow they saw nothing wrong with retread after retread. This was too far for them, apparently.

Newcomers who don't take the time to learn about the franchise are the worst, but Ryukishi and Passione are despicable for the manipulative marketing to begin with which allowed newcomers to blindly hop in thinking it was a full-fledged reboot despite veterans constantly telling them "No, start at the beginning" because "God" said otherwise.

Just catching up to the thread now due to lurking the last few pages, but I have to say every time Satoko and Rika fight and kill each other in dream sequences it just reminds me of Oreimo for some reason:

I laughed out loud when Satoko knocked Rika into the rice paddy with her bag, holy shit this episode was hilarious.

This shot is so fucking stupid, but the video is funny.

I'm beginning to think R07 agreed to a remake but changed his mind at the last minute, and that's why the story is a complete trainwreck.
