Maybe if you weren't such a bigoted transphobic asshole, you would have seen that the show was a masterpiece of a mecha anime because they advanced the genre with their ground breaking genderfluid character. Maybe you should try being open minded.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to invent time travel to recoup the lost 5 minutes I wasted googling genlock because that boring ass show was so forgettable, I couldn't remember if there was a trans/genderfluid character or if that was a fever dream.

Yeah, how dare me, being such a close-minded fuck. :(

And really, regardless of there being a genderfluid or if it's really just a fever dream, nothing of value would be lost because in the end it's irrelevant.

Evas are generally fascinating designs since they're not even robots entirely, but more like a form of bio-droids that somehow has soul-human synchronization value of merging with the pilots in behavior somehow. It's an unorthordox form of the robot among others so that's why they're appealing and more interesting.

And honestly Gen:Lock feels more like an experiment than anything.

The one character speaking in Japanese while others understanding him bit? That's clearly trying to copy what Star Wars did with the aliens communicating with humans with foreign alien language while they still understand Basic.

But here it doesn't fucking work because there's literally no reason to use such fluff between humans who clearly should have time and dedication to learn one single language to make it easy to communicate with each other especially in a timeline where education should never have been an issue to begin with. There's no excuse behind it.

So what we're seeing from Gen:Lock there, is just adding unnecessary fluff that really contributes nothing to the show.
Which again, begs the question as to why they needed to get a Japanese VA when literally any Asian-American could have done the job. Especailly one as high profile (and non-English speaking) as Yamadera. How they managed to record him as well makes me ask too many questions, like did they actually record him from Japan, or did they waste more money flying him over to America to record his lines?

We can only speculate. But honestly, all I know is that Gen Lock is over-bloated on budget and mismanaged horrendously so it's better off that it's just a fucking DC comic now (Thanks for that WB, we totally need a Gen Lock comic now, it's completely and totally necessary.) and I seriously hope Gray kept his mitts off the project for good now that he's gone from Rooster Teeth. The guy is a liability and is incapable of taking criticism.

Back to RWBY, I have no expectations for Volume 8 since they just recently finished writing the script for it, which again gave me the impression that it's gonna be more or less the same this year too.

On the bright side, RT's offerings exist as containment for the obsessive, embarassing fanatics who need to be kept well and far away from the actual IPs we hold near and dear to our hearts. And when they come knocking, I'll tell em to fuck off cuz we're full. I'd rather WB run that to the ground than something I actually care about.

Yeah, pretty much. For me it definitely is the organic aspect which serves a twist in the show and the sleek shapes, I just don't like boxy designs unless it's a run-down dieselpunk setting or something like Kenshi.

That's pretty much everyone in Rooster Teeth.

Oh I am aware.

But Gray was the worst of the bunch back then, even more so than Miles, Kerry and Barbara. Gray was not just an arrogant ass-hat, but a delusional fuckface who blocks and shut everyone out when they're calling him out for his BS behavior and then plays the victim with pointless jargon about how he "busted his ass for years bringing up the company to be what it is and blah blah blah" . He always skirts around the issue rather than addressing them so...yeah.

Everyone on RT are very incapable of handling criticisms, but Gray was the worst back then.

So a big deal people have that divides the fandom is “why wasn’t Weiss facing Adam in the V6 Blake/Adam showdown?”

Because "isn't nearly as interesting" means the same as "not needed" and just brush it off without so much as a mention. That makes total sense to somebody who's basically just playing the tiresome "That's just your opinion, doesn't make it right" game.

BTW, for the sake of not losing braincells, I would suggest you not to look into too much of this guy's Twitter account since most of it are just "here's why your RWBY criticism is wrong" and it's either his/her way or the highway and it's not worth the hassle.

Many of RWBY-defensive fanbases are like that, even reasonable ones are hard to come by. It's always going to be boiled down to personal insult and attacks when things escalate.

Holy Autistic Hot Take, Batman!

Adam doesn’t need to be tied to three members of RWBY, but there will always forever be a missed opportunity to not tie Weiss in with Blake;Ever since Volume 2 when the girls shared an emotional moment, Weiss talked about how her family’s company started by her Grampy went down the shitter in terms of reputation and their company notably for having Worker Rights for Faunus being abysmal as fuck, leading Weiss to strive in correcting what her father had done.

Hell, we can go further back to Volume 1 when Weiss reveals why she’s prejudice and distrustful of Faunus.

Why in God’s Green Earth would it not be interesting to see Adam confront the (Former) heiress of the company that not only branded him like an animal? This would be further development between Blake and Weiss, showing how far they’ve come from the start opposed to the forced bullshit Weiss has gotten such as the “Obligatory Not White Guilt” in Volume 7 in the mines, or her putting a drunk racist in a dumpster.

Miles' lack of self-awareness being rightfully & deservingly mocked

I saw that tweet.

It was outright beyond moronic even as a joke. It's like this idiot didn't even look back at the characters of his own project that he's been part of for the past 7 years.

He seems to fail to understand that just because he thought it was a harmless joke, doesn't mean everyone will see and think the same way as he does.

And frankly, I think he's completely forgotten the fact that Yang is a character that's originally based off of Tifa years ago when Monty was still alive, so if he's mocking Tifa as a prostitute, then what will Yang be in his book?

The long and the short of it is two things ruined the Adam-SDC subplot:
1. Yang losing her arm. This is the ONLY THING connecting her to Adam.
2. Bees.

And for some reason there's this vague implication that Adam was abusive towards Blake, but from what I remember Adam is completely justified in his rage at Blake's betrayal. It's this flimsily justified "me and my new girlfriend fight my (our?) abuser" power fantasy, when Adam has done nothing to either of them that was not in either revenge or self-defense. And that's RT's fault for not going all the way. Either make Adam abusive before Blake's betrayal, or don't pretend Blake is some innocent victim of Adam's wrath. And fuck Yang's arm, that's an even worse "you fucked up my face" excuse than Adam's - who has generations of racism and exploitation to be mad about as well.

It should have been Weiss and Blake. Bees or no Bees, Yang had no real connection to Adam until they railroaded her to be Adam's rival.

Not even that. The rivalry wasn't even that fleshed out. It just happened with little to no build up and got resolved hyper fast because they need to finish that part of the arc and toss Adam down the dumpster because the conflict with White Fang was rushed to resolved back when Adam was ousted by his own followers when Blake's parents still have influence over the home village.

So Adam is just a throaway tool meant to push a relationship tease that's Yang and Blake because that's easily the hottest most-talked-about trend among fanbase and by god the writers are gonna milk the shit out of it without making things confirmed whether it's canon or not.

It's like they're setting up for the next queer-bait betrayal to the fans since Lance and Keith's relationship back in Voltron, and those who watched that show would know how much of a fucking shitshow that was.

Bumblebee is pretty confirmed at this point.

The actual problem now is Yang has no reason to exist as a charcter anymore. Her arc is done, and they don't seem to be in a hurry to give her anything new to do.

All that's left is to seal it with a kiss. You know that's how the fandoms acknowledge everything nowadays on romance / shipping. No kiss, no confirmation. It's absurd but that's just how many of the fanbase thinks.

And yeah, I feel like they are just distancing themselves with Yang at the moment because they have no idea what to do with her right now.

But frankly I don't think they've done a good job on the main girl -- Ruby either. Like, she's still just a fucking plot device that move things without personal stakes of her own, stakes that make us connect with her and give us reasons to support her other than she's the main heroine by label.

Speaking of animation, do you guys think RWBY still has that "not enough budget" excuse to give them a free pass?

It was fine being patient and forgiving back when Monty basically soloed the animation. But now?

I mean RT might not be a huge animation studio, but they aren't exactly a small indie studio either too, are they? They are owned by multimillion-dollar corporations and they have lots of industry inside deals and several videogames, merchandise, and even mainstream comics and manga.

Are we sure they aren't just being cheap?

Not at all. I do agree. In fact, that's one of the main draws of the show. RWBY is an eye-candy show and that's always been its main strength and the only reason it's still around. RWBY can be a gorgeous show to look at its best. There's a reason this show inspires so much fan art. They do have some good 3d models.

For example, everything Monty did by animating fight scenes is gorgeous due to their sheer energy and choreography. They have indeed improved steadily, no doubt.

It's just that, once you look past the fight scenes they hype up for trailers that issues show up.

Long story short, they usually try to do things they simply don't have the budget, manpower, experience or talent to do, and it shows. They had a person that basically solo'ed and made all the amazing fight scenes and trailers. But ever since he died, ignoring his weird quirks like using outdated software aside, they've struggled to this day to match his level of quality.

For example, some scenes are literally glorified slideshows or just static drawings:

WB pumped RT with money. That was why RT grew so big. It wasn't because RWBY was a smashing success. WB floated RT as a content farm.

Now AT&T turned the spigot off after the GEN:LOCK fiasco.

Volumes 1 and 2 were condensed enough for RT to manage. It was only when Beacon fell (after a shitty tournament arc) that the wheels fell off. I think they even admitted V4 was overly ambitious because they were trying to copy Game of Thrones at the height of their popularity with everyone separated...and they can’t even do that right with how much JNR lags behind Team RWBY. And now, we have some bootleg Final Famtasy game without any of the side quests/missions needed to either grind, kill time, or get 100% completion.

Well, Gray had RT going all in on Gen Lock to secure a glorious future where RT would be taken seriously in the entertainment industry and not be seen as “those guys who screw around in Halo”, by any means necessary. He got Gen Lock on Adult Swim for crying out loud, something that RWBY can’t accomplish and never could. And...the gamble turned out to be a bust.

My theory had been that V4 through V6 would be team RWBY resolving the issues they talked about during V2. Pacing shot all that to hell though because Weiss didn't tell Winter (her last family member) to fuck off.

HBO Max is taking over GEN:LOCK.

Gray Haddock also went quiet on Twitter just before the news dropped.

Hmm. I was wondering if he was going to be involved. Not saying he is, the timing is suspicious now that I look at it.

Also the comic book industry is dead in the water right now so RT can't brag about having content in DC.

Gen:Lock had the issue that the first season boiled down to "five minorities combined their minds to beat down... Another minority?" WTF?

Gray couldn't just outright say "Huwite man is evil" so he created a villain that is an enslaved minority.

Now that I think about it, most of the white guys are dead or in a coma on the "good guys" side.

RT's hugbox caused far more problems than it solved.

Calling Tifa is a prostitue, meanwhile in RWBY show, female characters wearing skimpy outfits:

And finally Carmine Esclados from their RWBY Amity Arena game, I sure hope Miles Luna hasn't forgotten about her.

What else? Oh right, I wonder if Miles Luna also calls Jessica Nigri a prostitue based on her job?

Apparently, 16th or 17th April is National Horny Day, so I think it's fine if Miles wants to be honest with his sexual desire.

Edit 2: Since I can't find any archive of Miles Luna "joking" tweet, but there is an archive of his apology.

The tweet from Jess Cogswell in that image, probably the one helps spreading how "progressive" Miles Luna is. Although, her later tweets are quite questionable.

Interesting. But I doubt it's salvageable. The show itself was never even that interesting to begin with.

Also, if they're going for PC premise then it's never gonna sell well because it's been done to death with poor results before. Honestly the whole focus of genderfluid was already very cringe-worthy, we really don't need another one of those here.
