While i agree that the episode wasn't eventful i do think that it sets a positive precedent. In the previous 2 seasons i was already zoning out by this point but i am actually genuinely intrigued by the idea that Ironwood is so broken over losing Ozpin that he chose to make his plan the polar opposite. Instead of nobody being told what the fuck is going on he plans to make this a public war and even anticipates panic among the citizens. I have to say i even AGREE with his plan to a bigger degree than i did with Ozpin (which frankly wasn't a lot) because hiding this shit from the people of the world is inevitably gonna lead to somebody finding out and making this public anyways.

Episode 2 is mostly exposition and I could do without the squeaky voiced Discount Pseudo Antifa Boi, but it was somewhat better than Episode 1 had been after its release~ Only real credit I give the Galaxy Brain Duo, is that they didn't recycle the Winter Maiden being a teenager or in her twenties and even tell the audience that she ain't gonna be living long either.

As for the 'Revealing of Salem to the World' plan that Jimmy wants to enact, to a degree I get what he's saying and even appreciate that he wants to be honest with the general population (Including the other kingdoms) compared to Ozpin who still stuck to half-truths (Though, Yang and Jaune certainly are hypocritical due to Raven being the Spring Maiden / Faking his transcripts) but the fallout would be catastrophic.

Regardless of the manpower Atlas has for the other four kingdoms, you also gotta count for Menagerie, whatever villages in Mistral that didn't get entirely fucked by bandits or Grimm, along with more areas such as Patch, etc...In essence, that's a big ass order to serve when it comes to everyone out of Atlas / Mantle on Remnant.

Atlas would be violating all kinds of peace treaty rules.

I’ve also heard people call Ruby a hypocrite, but some have said that Ruby’s just trying not to destroy Ironwood’s spirit and she’s displaying a flaw more than being a hypocrite.

Ruby's in a spot where I can see both sides of the argument, but ultimately side with not wanting to drive Ironwood over the "Despair Event Horizon" because it'll probably turn him into a real dictator who's even more nuttier than squirrel shit and it won't be pretty once the truth does come out.

I see her lie as a "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, because she saw what happened to her team, JNR, and her uncle once they found out.

Yang and Jaune (The latter especially) have no real excuses for their lies, and in the case of Jaune his lie would've had fatal consequences in Volume 3's original plan for Pyrrha's death had it not been changed.

your points are absolutely correct but i see it this way: Ironwood *thinks* that he could handle the outrage so he doesn't consider a "What if i can't" scenario. He only sees this fallout happen if he DOESN'T reveal it

But that's exactly how they treated ozpin/oscar last season. Yang was 100% ready to punch her uncle when he tried to stood up for ozpin.
Isn't ozpin reason for not saying anything about salem was exactly the same?

*shrug* Honestly, I'd say all that shit was Miles and Kerry overcorrecting and putting a band-aid on a lot of things, mainly Ozpin doing so much shady tings people were saying he was the real villain all along.

It is, but Ironwood finding out just how bad it really was in regards to Salem might’ve driven him even further and cause what’s left of his snapped sanity to take a nosedive.

RWBY, JNR, and Qrow aren’t the ones in power who can call military personnel or control robotic soldiers.

Can anyone who watched episode 2 proper and not only the summary tell me what's ironwood plan with the cctv? I heard that he intended to lauch a sattelite?

Did he say how exactly he intent to achieve this? The recently released companion book said that there's no energy source other than dust and a world of remnant episode said that dust doesn't work on space and thus there isn't any kind of spacefight on remnant.

As Penny exactly says:

"We're not only going to establish a tower on top of the arena, but also establish communication!" in her cheerful voice~ Winter mentions the scientists of Atlas working on it, but no mentions of any fuel source that isn't Dust-based and she iterates that the tower is being launched high enough in the atmosphere.

If you were hoping for a far more detailed explanation in the show, you aren't getting one from them.

I can't believe that literally everyone on Remnant went like a hundred years with all this advanced tech and never once thought to put some satellites up in the sky for communication. They relied on a completely nonsensical system with the CCT towers where if one goes down literally all communication across the world goes down. It boggles the mind that they think that having characters try to patch up a massive plot hole from years ago is anything special. My brain hurts from how idiotic Miles and Kerry continue to be.

And about Ironwood I don't understand why he's so paranoid. He was always super level headed in the early seasons (until Volume 3 where he suddenly decided to just... do nothing until the Grimm invaded), and when he showed up in Volume 4 he seemed just kinda bummed. Now his character is completely different for the sake of the plot. Ironwood would absolutely want to know what the main group knows and holding super important info is literally the worst possible choice. He's going to find out sooner or later and since he's in a major position of power and has connections to the Ozluminati they should be able to trust him. Inb4 they turn Ironwood into a villain for drama.

Your guess is as good mine, man~ Seems everyone in Remnant had their thumbs up their asses and believed that these towers were always gonna be flawless or have no problems of whatsoever...Even if Cinder never did what she did, who's not to say that the White Fang or any other extremist groups couldn't just do the same in the other Kingdoms? Personally, a failsafe plan or backup shoulda came years ago.

I agree with you about Ironwood, and the justification I've seen is that after the FoB where the robot soldiers got hacked into is why he's gone a bit skittish (Not as bad as Lionhart, who flat out sold his Huntsmen and Huntresses to save his own ass) and gone full 1984, but even then that's kinda a weak excuse to see him plummet in terms of character.

Still placing bets on him or Jacques being the Trump Allegory.

I mean hell if the power went out or if one of the towers glitched out and had to be reset that would screw over the entire world. Literally no engineer would design communications systems like this when there are infinitely better ways of doing it. But the CCT was used as nothing more than a plot device to make Cinder win in Volume 3.

Ironwood never came off as paranoid about anything. After Beacon fell he seemed to be pretty down about things in Volume 4 but nothing like this. I have a strong feeling Ironwood is just going to end up being nothing more than a plot device to force whatever idiotic idea Miles and Kerry want to make happen.

And honestly I'm waiting for Jacques to talk about wanting to build a wall.

I have two headcanons in regards to RWBY: The first is, as already mentioned, that Salem runs a special needs program for mentally challenged villains. Hence why Cinder and Tyrian constantly keep shitting the bed on such spectacular levels.

The other one is that the people of Remnant are generally at the wrong end of the Bell Curve. I would even dare to go a step further and speculate that RWBY shares the same cinematic universe with Idiocarcy. In-universe it would explain a lot when you think about it.

Here’s some art I found.

They did, dust stops working in space so the entire basis of their tech is locked in Atmo.

Of course that back story stuff was voiced by Vic, so it's probably not cannon anymore.

.... what. Now I skipped World of Remnants cause they're all stupid and if the info is important then it needs to be in the show, but that's a whole new level of stupid. I'm sorry but this idea that literally everything is built on Dust is idiotic at best. They must have electricity and other types of technology. I refuse to believe that literally the entire world for all of its history refused to do anything that didn't involve dust. They have lifelike androids and battle mechs yet they don't have satellites??! And they never once thought "Hey I wonder if we can work around this issue and get a satellite up in space to improve our communications?" GAH this pisses me off so much. How is it possible that literally everything that Miles and Kerry writes just gets dumber and dumber as the show goes?
