All these obscure games and here I am, a scrublord, with my Rogue Legacy and Spelunky HD.

Seriously though, both terrific games, and I've played a disgusting amount of those two.

The Mystery Dungeon games are worth it. If you are new to these, start with the Pokémon ones.

If you want something a bit more degenerate, try MaidenSnow Eve (NSFW)
Its challenging enough to piss you off, but with enough degenerate elements to keep you hooked, if you are into those things.
I've been trying to come up with something witty to say to this sentence for ten minutes and I'm coming up empty. As degenerate as this looks I might have to check it out.
Well, I've bit the bullet and tried it. It's actually pretty good, mechanically. The only problem with the game is that the game's tutorial is mired in thick, incomprehensible Engrish, and doesn't teach much beyond the bare-minimum of basics. I had to rely on this pastebin guide to fill in the blanks. The furthest I've managed to make it so far is the abandoned city where the Church is, though admittedly I was playing pretty cowardly in avoiding rooms with tons of mobs and the lords you're supposed to defeat. I ended up getting screwed because my weapons were starting to wear out and I equipped a pair of cursed guns then ran out of ammo.

Fair warning to anyone wanting to play it, though: the game is quite difficult, especially if you're not accustomed to playing Classic-style Roguelikes. Be prepared to get screwed -- both figuratively and literally -- while you're still getting to grips with the game.

I put a bunch of milage into that PS1 Chocobo one and Nightmare of Druaga ages ago, more recently I just finished the main story part of the gba pokeyman one on my phone.

I played Red Rescue Team on my GBA and I beat it at my aunt's wedding. It's basically been a tradition for me to have my partner be Pikachu while I chose any of the starters. Never played any of the originals or any of the other spinoffs. My favorite Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game has to be Explorers of Sky. Every other PMD game after that just didn't compare to Sky. Shiren the Wanderer is pretty easy to get (except two and four) since the first one was remade on the DS, the third one was released on the Wii (there's a PSP version with a fan translation), and the fifth one got a remake on the Vita. Two is on the N64 and never got an English release, and the same goes for four, which was originally released on the DS, and then got an enhanced port on the PSP. The first Torneko Mystery Dungeon game got a fan translation though.

Enter the Gungeon has fantastic art and sound design, but it's way too hard for me. You really have to devote yourself to mastering the enemy and boss patterns to the point where its muscle memory. May or may not revisit it sometime, but I give mad props to the developers for the big free content updates.

Spelunky is so good. Back when it was in open alpha/beta and free it was part of my morning routine to drink coffee and play a couple of rounds before heading out. Then an update came out and whatever bullshit tech/glitch I was using was removed or changed so I raged, then I found a new bullshit glitch or technique and kept playing. Rinse and repeat for... I don't know for how long I was playing in 15-20 minutes bursts every morning.

Last one I played was Caves of Qud, which is actually pretty great. You're in a weird sci-fi post-apocalypse where the main currency is water. It's mostly classless. You either play as a mutant and have access to mental and/or physical adaptations or as a true kin and get access to cyborg remote surgeries and more skill points and attribute points. Builds get pretty freaky, like when I was a furry turtle man that randomly caught on fire but had pyrokinisis or when I was a six armed man horned man covered in quills. There's a story but it's still a work in progress. The setting reminds me of a more 70s science fantasy version of Kenshi.

It's funny you mention these two cause I'm such a chronic procrastinator that I never even finished either of these even though they're so old. Though I'm planning to play them again soon cause I bought a new controller for pc gaming that's more comfortable than my old PS3 controller.

When work is slow I can get away with playing Roguelites and Kiwifarms (I'm on VPN or hotspot so don't worry about me).

Anyway Slay The Spire has been dominating my free thought time. It drives me absolutely crazy in how I'll have a route planned in my head which then gets sabotaged due to the cards generated for me.

I still haven't been able to beat the final boss, but in a sense I'm happy with that because I feel what makes these games so addictive is that it's not an easy feat to see the ending.

In slash'em extended this happened.

I tried IVAN but it’s a game for ants. Gotta mess with the archaic interface options.

This thread inspired me to play stone soup again and it’s like “why would I buy games when this is free?”

Any of you ever seen the old nethack 3.4.3 Tileset named "The Absurd NetHack Tileset"

Using more real life looking images for everything. I love it.

So since it was mentioned a few times in this thread, I figured I'd give Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead a shot. Once it was installed, I decided to try out the tutorial. Things went fairly well, until the game asked me to do... something with a pool of water in the floor. I walked around a bit, but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. Eventually, my character started getting really cold and thirsty, to the point of getting frostbite. I had a bottle of water in my inventory and a lighter. I looked around and found a gasoline pump, and decided to light it on fire and sit next to for warmth. As the fire burned nice and brightly, I decided to rest next to it to wait until my water bottle thawed.

Then the gas pump exploded. I, along with the building, caught on fire. Although the flames on my clothes shortly died out, the building did not. The flames continued to eat away at the building, turning the room into an oven and cooking me alive.

Overall, I'd give my experience a 10/10.

God I just got reminded of Falcon's Eye all that time ago.
Why did I keep kicking the sink and messing with the fountains?

Mind you this isn't really rougelike/rougelite but it has elements from RL version of Doom so I think fits Lite part atleast.

So I was playing a doom mod that adds the Doom RL weapons to normal doom 2(and a optional one that adds news monsters to it), and I find a nuclear powered BFG, cool It's regens ammo, doesn't eat up any of your cells and Acts like a normal BFG otherwise. Good weapon.

Next map I accidently upgrade it to the "Hi powered" Version.

I go to shoot it find out I have to hold it down because otherwise it wont shoot. Red Flag 1
As I hold it down it's making weird noises and looks like it's falling apart Red Flag 2

It explodes in my hands killing me.

>MFW this happens.
