Rio Olympics 2016 - Where the city runs green with bribery money and pool water

If you thought you didn't want to live on this planet due to the last few weeks, the hatred looks like it's about to get even worse for you. Why? The Summer Olympics in Rio are about to be underway, of course. With the political turmoil and corruption going on in Brazil right now, what could possibly go wrong?

Oh, boy, this could get interesting. The Olympic Village has been so well-constructed that the toilets are often blocked, wiring is exposed and water leaks are commonplace. The Australian Olympic teams and Hope Solo are among people that are refusing to go anywhere near there for fear of their health and safety.

The part you need to know about is how the mayor of Rio responded. With no sense of irony whatsover, he offered them a kangaroo to make them feel more at home at the Village. Because a kangaroo is going to fix the plumbing and electrical issues the place has.

This may or may not be a complete and utter shitshow, but it's something to definitely keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

I think what I'm most excited for is the first sex tourist caught on camera, along with his woman and two armed guards.

Brazil in general seems like a shitshow

Seriously, it should be made illegal for a country to host the Olympics if it doesn't meet certain and strict criteria. Instead, all you've gotta do is place the highest bid. The whole thing is so corrupt (as is FIFA).

Also, whenever a non-first world country gets chosen to host a mega sporting event, it always seems like most of the populace is really against it. Only the elites and politicians push for it. And it's obvious why; if you and everyone around you is struggling to get by and you see your government pouring billions of dollars into a sporting event, wouldn't you be pissed?

I personally take these reports with a grain of salt - the same amount of absolutely damning reports were written about Sochi 2014, and yet it wasn't such a disaster as everyone had expected.

IOC should really have chosen a safer city though.

Well at least this dumb show of testosterone measuring is not done at my country's financial expense.

But I have no doubt it will come here too, since there are few things politicians love more than the limelight.

The main ramp for the Olympic sailing venue has collapsed due to high winds and there has been more shenanigans with the Australian Olympic teams. There has been reported theft of a computer and clothing after a fire evacuation... where it was revealed that the fire alarms in the buildings didn't work. Remember this was the building that was condemned by the Australian Olympic teams several days ago due to not being up to code in terms of plumbing and electricity.

The Mayor of Rio is going to need to bring in a lot of kangaroos to fix this situation.

If these countries weren't so dysfunctional, I would be in support of these events happening in the more obscure regions. These events are huge economic boosts, which unfortunately end up getting siphoned away by those elites and government.

Goddamn if there was any sense in the world, they need to cancel Rio. If the Olympics MUST be held, move it to the States or someplace where they can set up the competition sites and housing with minimal fuss.

But they didn't even check to see if the fucking fire alarms work? NOBODY in their sane mind is going back into those buildings if basic emergency alarm systems are useless. The evidence that shit was part poorly planned and rushed by cutting all the corners just grows by the day.

Holy cow, even in the DESIGNATED streets of India the Olympics would be cleaner and safer (:_(
I hope that after these games, the ICO wont choose 3rd world countries to be the host.

Or maybe the IOC should take a break for a while.

Short break, permanent break, I don't care.
