What are the chances he'll hide his nerd shit with a friend and pretend he lost it all in a tragic boating accident?

Waid outright threatened to beat the shit out of a friend's kid for playing with an Aquaman toy of his he had on display (while screaming "he matters to me!" when the parent said why was he freaking out over a freaking loose Aquaman toy from the Super Power line, as far as being the least fucking valuable toy Waid owns that a kid could play with in terms of Aquaman Super Power figures being dirt freaking cheap), which led to said friend publicly denouncing Waid and severing ties with him. No fucking way would Waid send it to someone to hide it. His autism won't allow him. If anything, he'd probably burn everyone in a firey suicide attempt if he loses his lawsuit just to spite Richard.

If you've got a link to this, I'd love to see it.

Meanwhile, Waid's upcoming book looks to be the most tone-deaf and masturbatory fiction in the medium. I know it's a layup to compare a bad comic to Sonichu, but it's very much like that seminal work in that it's only interesting when it reveals the inadequacies and twisted worldview of it's author.
funny enough, I sort of disagree. sonichu for all its problems, could've been at least passable if chris hadn't projected hard on the comic. he had some legitimately good ideas.... hampered by as you state his inadequacies and twisted word view.

waids works? that he's actually done? garbage. straight garbage. I would not read them if you paid me 1 mil per issue. it simply is not worth the waste of time and energy.

A lot less than he claims it’s worth on his insurance. The thing with that sort of shit is it’s actual reclaimable real value is tied to what the biggest moron is willing to pay for it... and Mark Waid is that Alpha moron. Who are you gonna find that will buy most of that crap for even half of what Waid paid for it. The even more moronic thing is Waid’s antics in the industry have been driving away fans and collectors. Thus reducing the value of his collection.

Too bad there isn't a word that means both ironic and moronic.

If Waid had millions he wouldn't be begging for money.
He had ~80,000 reasons to beg for money. When he loses jurisdiction and tries TCPA motion he might find another ~20,000 reasons to beg in a second round of passing the cup. I don't know if the recent facebook/GFM update can be considered a proper begging, that was more of an idiotic attempt at gloating. We might get a great freakout for the next update if the lawyers don't write it for him.

Which was a spectacular own goal. Dragging Waid into deposition so early before they could even argue TCPA really put the brakes on the strategy Waid's lawyers seemed to have been trying to formulate. I genuinely wonder if Waid straight up lied to them about his ties to Texas.
Waid's a dishonest, delusional, and sociopathic manbaby. Of course he lied to them to pretend he didn't commit a crime, given that he's still such a baby he believes lying via tattling is a winning move both on Twitter, real life, and now the courts. He probably hoped he could do a money race and is tantruming as we speak that his children's toy fund is getting slim since it ain't working.

Now the Texas lawyer backing him I feel for; he has an awful client who is hard as shit to control due to his emotional immaturity and the guy the firm is sending out is the junior. He probably didn't expect the lies and Waid is a hard client to defend.

Zaid though probably did know on some level, since he comes off as a prestige sucking scumbag who will selfdestruct at some point due to being scum.

It's never RICO. It's more likely to be lupus on House.

So, once, when no-one cares anymore?

He probably hoped he could do a money race and is tantruming as we speak that his children's toy fund is getting slim since it ain't working.

You'd also hope the mainstream comics industry noted who got donations from customers and who got donations from 'friends in the industry' and took note of where the money is, vs. where people say it is. But that would be :optimistic: as hell.

This cat’s supposed to be some legend of his industry, a big success story, right?

And all he has to show for it is a depressing whitewashed apartment, a bunch of stupid toys sitting on IKEA shelving units, a 15 years out of style shiny Teflon shirt, and a reputation for being a screaming autistic mantoddler?

Oh, and a lawsuit threatening to take away all of those spoils of ‘success’. :story: :hah:

Mark Waid should just throw himself off the tallest building he can find.

He cant even build that ikea shelving right...
He also doesnt know how to wear a shirt or he has a realy realy tiny head.

Those graphic novels would be luckily to get cover price if he sold them. Same goes for any statue. It's one thing collectors avoid as they will never go up in value.

Artwork can if it's been signed by the artist and you can get it verified.

I've seen Transformers collectors with more impressive collections.

Start Paying attention now. Tons of good condition readable Silver Age 60’s 70’s And 80’s stuff is starting to flood comic shops and be sold for prices less than the modern $4.95 for the new SJW crap. Sadly the cause for the sudden glut of new stuff is “estate sales”. The original collectors having started to depart this mortal coil.

Ifyouwant to help your LCS go in and buy some of the Silver Age stuff. I think they get better margins on it anyway.

I've seen all of the old Captain Marvel comics from the '70s go for $50 recently.

But only because he had an actual case of lupus show up.

Waid most likely is one of those "rich on paper, not in actual liquid assets he can readily access" kind of wealthy. Waid is famous for his legendary nerd memorabilia/toy collection he owns, which is where all of his money is tied up in. IE he has assets that are worth millions, but he doesn't outright have millions in his bank account or stashed away under his mattress or in hiding spots he can raid.

It's one of the reasons WHY Waid is e-begging like he is. Fucker DESPERATELY doesn't want to have to sell his nerd swag or toy collection to pay for his lawyer or pay the judgement to Richard. That would kill him, more than being found liable, if he had to sell his beloved nerd memorabilia or action figures to pay Richard what the court demands he pay Richard.
Things wealthy, cash poor.

A point of order as well: a lot of this collectible shit does not move easily. Much like a heavy meal that constipates you. If Waid suddenly has to sell things, he'll be selling at a loss unless he's amazingly lucky.

There's a FLCS around here whose owner is notorious for buying up collectible crap and sitting on it, expecting it to appreciate. The problem is that it takes a LONG time (if ever) to do so; the whole point of those collectible busts and stuff is mostly to separate fans from their cash, not to be some sort of investment.

Said FLCS also has a hardcore customer base, so it stays above water despite the owner's practically lolcow-worthy business practices.

Even so, he probably has access to the kind of people who, if they exist in the world at all, would be willing to buy the whole thing lock, stock and barrel for the fairest price possible. Even taking advantage of his situation, that would probably be a substantial amount. And there's the possibility of some wealthy patron picking it up more or less as a white knight move.

True.

Damn it.

True.

Damn it.

Maybe Ya Boi Zack can take his comics, toys, and resin crap in trade instead of the cash damages/settlement when this trainwreck comes to a halt. That'd hurt the manbaby more than anything else, especially if they started showing up in Zack's videos.
