None of which means anything to me other than that "superlawyer" is comorbid with "wanker". Which we already knew, right?

Super Lawyer means less than nothing, since Meyer is a comics sperg after all, and he'll know to bring along some kryptonite.

"Well well well, what ave, we here, some fancy pants SUPER lawyer from Washington D.C, thinking he can sperg out in this here, wholesome county court."

I think that's what the Kryptonite looks like, yeah.

So here's the deal on the "super lawyer" thing. It's a marketing thing where you meet some requirements and pay them like 300 bucks a year and they give you a plaque and put you on a list they imply is far more exclusive than it actually is. It's basically the "BBB accredited" of the legal world.
Rackets has also mentioned that Zack's attorney is also considered a SUPER lawyer, the Bleedingcool article that all the anti-CG side got their information from somehow omitted this along with his extensive history of business law and TI cases. Instead leading with 'real estate lawyer', Hmmm i wonder why? It's almost like they hate Zack and wrote a MW puff piece...
And why is it good for us?
Good for me because I want Waid to lose as much money as possible during the case as punishment for his illegal and general shitty behavior. I think currently most of the work will be done by Zaid, however anything that the Tx lawyer has to do for the case will end up causing Waid to be billed twice. This new Tx attorney may only cost around half of what Zaid gets, i.e. $400-500/hr but this quickly adds up. If they go to trial Waid will have to have might have both present and will be paying something like $1200-1500/hr in attorney fees alone.

Edited as @AnOminous gives good information and reasoning below

I'm not sure if that's the case in the Western District, but local counsel does usually have to sign all pleadings, and is considered answerable for any financial sanctions and essentially is responsible for whatever the attorney they're vouching for does in the local court. So they do have to be paid for this and would be prudent to know what's going on in the case and provide appropriate assistance.

Please.

Please tell me this is going full Maddox.
It's getting closer all the time :story:

Rackets is great comedy on this so far. He basically doesn’t give a shit other than amusement & passing curiosity. But he doesn’t have any vested interest in this professionally.

But it’s like Zaid is using him as the stand-in for Byrne here & trying to beat Nicky Rackets up instead. I don’t even know if Byrne was going for a rope-a-dope here but Zaid turned dope & started swinging at someone not even in the ring.

This is starting to remind me of the Youngbluth/EVS debate the other day where Jason spent the whole time shadowboxing a non-existent Vox Day while EVS was just sitting confused in the corner waiting for the match he thought he was supposed to have.

That's what leaves me scratching my head with this egomaniacal "Super Lawyer"? Notice we have heard virtually nothing from D&C and his lawyer. Beyond D&C confirmed the case after Waid announced it. The only thing sfrom them have been the public filings. Meyer and his lawyer have been the height of professionalism. They aren't airing their laundry in public.

Then we have Waid talking to Bleeding Cool etc (seriously no lawyer told him "don't do that!!!"?) And his "SuperLawyer" "Maek ZAID" engaging in Dick Waving Twitter Slap fights with some unrelated third party Youtuber who happened to report on the case. Why would you do that? No really why? How is that in your clients interest? At best a polite response of "I am still Mr. Waid's attorney of record. XXXX is the local Attorney we have engaged to handle the Texas Court matters, as is standard practice". Would have sufficed to correct the record in a polite professional matter. Instead he is attacking some Youtube Lawyer for offending his precious Ego. Boy is Mark Waid sure getting his money's worth with this clown! I guess a Narcissistic Douchenozzle actively looks for the same in a Lawyer?

It's pretty much that. This lawyer of Waid's seems almost tv like and that usually doesn't go well in actual court rooms. The fact he wasn't professional at all with so many eyes on this case so to speak is shocking. Zaid could've been quick, easy and polite with a correction and instead decided to insult someone he felt was beneath them. He enters that court house with one iota of that attitude against that judge? Ouch.

Or if there was the remotest chance Byrne actually didn't know he was in the case, just shut up and let the other side go about their business thinking the situation had changed. Let them find out when the motion hit the docket.

Instead, he'd rather play gotcha in comment threads with some guy who doesn't even really give a shit about the case other than picking it apart and laughing at it.

I might have been wrong thinking that Zaid is a clean-cut professional and that this case was gonna be really by the books. I'm expecting some dumb shit now.

And here I was warning people not to set their expectations based on the Maddox-Landau fiasco. I may have spoken prematurely.

Is it just a thing for lolcows to pick lolcows lawyers? Len and Maddox have done similar and now we potentially have Zaid too.
