It's current year + 11. Autistic nerds who are a little childish and socially inept don't exist anymore.

A lot of those homebrews on that site look nifty. GBC OutRun!

It doesn't really look anything like the arcade Outurn. The track layouts are nothing like the orignal game. Devil canyon(first right exit from level one) as an example is missing the sharp right-turn near the start of the track and the up-hill into hard left before you enter the canyon. I don't like that they removed the signs telling you the type of turn coming up. I know sprite limitations might of prevented that, but they could have copied what Famicom Grand Prix 2 did and told you with a pop-up.

If you actually wanted to know his politics, he's not exactly shy about them, you're just a retard who interprets any criticism of corporations as "no ethical consumption under capitalism"
Okay, maybe he is a communist.
I'm not going to shit the thread up anymore than I apparently already have to argue with them in bad faith about nothing really related to the subject after this post but sorry for making a post that essentially was saying "it's the pot calling the kettle black" and reiterating that point and accidentally turning it into retard shit. I've been accused of many things but never a communist and if someone actually thought that I'd probably be offended. but I don't think essentially saying you don't necessarily know or agree with everything in a supply chain equates to supporting an ideology that essentially removes individual achievement which is a critical part of the human experience that has believers mostly made up of retarded people who refuse to do their part in society and don't understand how economies work or think they are owed something by anyone other than themselves. for the record, you'd probably get me to agree to be drug out into the street and shot before I'd vote for anything in the ballpark of socialist.

I would buy a Chromatic if it had built in save states and cheats.

I have my old GBC with a fancy OLED screen. It looks great but it's too bright even on the lowest setting to play while I'm falling asleep. And of course has no night mode. And then I just use an AliExpress Everdrive knockoff for games. It's a shame the Aliexpress bootleggers haven't pirated the newest Everdrive, the one I have doesn't do save states and cheats.

If you look at a Game Boy Color from just the right angle, it looks like it has a big ol' butt.

go far enough up and probably every product has some sort of fucked up thing down the line
Precisely. If you buy an electronic device, some part of it is almost guaranteed made in China and some portion of that component's price is going straight to that government for whatever reasons they deem fit. Anyone with a working brain can look up China's governmental rap sheet and that's not even including the obvious Tienanmen Square stuff. There's also all those chocolate companies we can start arguing about too. Or how about Russian oil? It's just the surface level stuff I'm talking about too.

Inherently no matter what you buy someone's getting fucked for it down the line in some fashion. Either indirectly or directly, and as unfortunate as it sounds it's basically just the way it is. Everything has a cost to it, and it's not just in monetary value.

In essence, the Chromatic situation is probably more "direct" in where that money is going.

If there's one thing I enjoy the retro game thread being shit up with... it's politics.
Yes it's retarded and I'm sure most would rather not even discuss it at all but if you've ever been in retro circles of some kind, the tier of autism in most younger people using these spaces ends up being a giant politics magnet. It's not a matter of if you'll get politics in a retro thread, it's when. In defense of this particular instance, at least it's not full of the usual gender bullshit that shits up any retro space real fast and easy and takes half the server with it.

Some of them are cool but a big tangible issue is the advent of GB Studio shitting up the entire GB homebrew market. Being essentially a "you don't need to code to make GB games" tool it's opened the floodgates to a lot of really low quality stuff on there. Not all GB Studio stuff is bad but there is unironically an actual presence of "slop" on the system now. A lot of homebrews don't use it, but it's annoying when I'm looking through homebrews for a good time and then I'm faced with 3 really shitty GBStudio games in a row.

On that note, I never understood the SMB Mini homebrew. Nintendo already made a much superior SMB1 backport in every facet (except the screen crunch, I guess?) so it really makes me wonder who it's really for. I suppose it's just a novelty especially when combined with the extra worlds, but it does feel like it exists for the sake of being able to.

well nice zero recs you got for us there, maybe try dropping some Magical Cat Adventure-tier names before complaining
No idea what that is, but my first recommendation is to stop being a homosexual. My second, more serious recommendation, and what I was originally looking for, is Namco Classic Collection Volumes 1 and 2. A two-part collection of six modernized (by mid-90s standards) sequels of classic games plus their original counterparts. Pac-Man Arrangement has been rereleased a few times including through the modern Pac-Man Museum+, but the others have either been rereleased only once ~25 years ago or not at all. Despite having the same name, these are not the same as the Arrangement games from the PSP/360.

There’s also Mr. Driller G which was finally added to MAME a couple years ago. The later console games are probably better overall, but it’s still a fun novelty and has visual flair that the console games never got.
