This was found while watching archived MATI Stream. Piped and Invidious have really obscure video recommendations sometimes.
He has good tips how to cheese in RE4R with the downside of him bitching about commenters on his video and opinions of "old re good new re bad" that no one cares about.

Some people are just too nostalgic for the 90s-2000s games and hate the remaster games for being boring, which I can't really blame, but his explanation comes across as nonsensical.

Personally I don't find the remakes boring, they're actually analog more action packed and dynamic. I just think they're more generic and less interesting.

They're pretty scary, RE2R has a more darkness which is automatically pretty frightening to me. I hate my sight being restricted but it's effective at inducing fear lol,

They're visually great for sure and I'm glad that they made the games more terrifying. Having that said, they are boring because they are generic, and that's much worse than a typical bad game.

i bet separate ways is delayed because capcom very surreptitiously had to replace Lily Gao. the fact they added those placeholder achievements on Steam tells me it will come out, but it's insane that it's taking this long. you don't just leave ready-to-go shit in the files (Wesker and Ada both work fine) without at least some hype.

It's yet another certified Crapcum moment

I just didn't like REmake 3
I have seemed to be in the minority in this regard and I'm wondering why. I like the dodge, I think nemesis was a great bit of tension and made routing much tighter than 2 ever was. It feels like a bonus challenge mode for 2 honestly. I played all 3 of the remakes on hardcore first time through and I just felt 3 had really tight resource balancing and I loved how key items are locked behind fighting nemesis as he chases you. Also some of the best bosses in the series, nemesis 1 and 3 are both fantastic. 3 especially, it's a pit fight that truly tests your multitasking and awareness skills.

My main qualm with it was not including like half of the original game, clocktower totally gone, etc. The rest of it was alright but too short for full price in my opinion. RE2 remake didn't cut anywhere near that amount out.

OG RE3 is my favorite out of the older games, I don't feel the RE3 remake did it justice with how much stuff was cut; the gas station event was fun, the clocktower event is iconic and a proper segue to switch from Jill to Carlos, and there's this boss that appears twice that is somehow absent from Remake entirely, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE WORM BOSS?! It literally busts up the ground under you, you could've put it damn near anywhere, but we don't even get earthquakes. I do like that they made Nikolai more of an asshole though. It also doesn't help that RE2R had all the new side story stuff on top of the Hunk and various Tofus, where RE3R couldn't even bother to have its Mercenaries / Rescue game.

The problem with RE4R coming off as more lifeless is, it was the first game in the series that did the over the shoulder view and what-not. You're not getting a game that had to be entirely redesigned to be in the new camera angle and new gameplay methodology, you're just getting a newer glossier version of a game from 2003 (or whenever it was). And I feel the same way about Dead Space 1 and it's remake, sure things are slightly different, but you're still playing a game that was 80%+ completed 15+ years ago. My only real complaints for RE4R are mostly the script changes, Salazar not having his hat, and Lily Gau's bored ass tone. I'm not saying dinner and a zombie outbreak are the same thing; but if I had a date, and my date was enthusiastic about it as much as Ada was in her job, I'd split the check and fucking leave.

I get the missing content arguement but not the pricing one, i got re3 for like 15 bucks, price changes over time, wait a year and sales happen, it was on humble bundle a week ago along with the whole series (available on steam) for 12 bucks. I guess its length just doesnt bother me since i got 4 playthroughs out of it anyway. I do have a problem with how absurd health pools have been on higher difficulties though. Village and 3 had absurd enemy health values and village doesnt even attempt to give you the resources for the big wolves or big hammer mini bosses. Youre forced to exploit to get through village of shadows/inferno difficulty. Honestly feels designed for ng+ or unlock weapons and I hate it.
RE4 remake is much better than RE3 remake but maybe that’s just me.
Well im saying compared to what its remaking. Re4 is one of the greatest games of all time, I don't think re4 remake is anything close to that.

re2/3 remakes have unique appeals compared to their originals because they play very differently, they're not trying to replace the originals, they're a new spin on those games.

Yes, you got it for 15 bucks. But will the average consumer get it for that much? Probably not. The problem is that the original price was way too high above the actual value of the game. A 5 hour campaign with no extra content, no new endings, no choices, no replay value at all. RE2 remake had two campaigns that were about 5 hours each, four if you count all routes, 4th survivor, ghost survivors, and tofu survivor.

Yes actially, the vast majority of purchases will be during steam sales, not spontaneously for full price. I guess on console it will be? Do they have sales? I have no clue.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by replay value though, games are fun to replay if their main draw is gameplay. If all that drives you to replay a game is a different cutscene at the end I question if you even enjoy playing the game in the first place. There's tons of challenge tasks and unlocks to incentivize replays if you care about such things. Personally I just enjoy routing the game, it's designed to be optimized.

I'm still trying to get my hands on a legitimate US copy of Resident Evil 3 for PC. Not the REEmake. Only copies on ebay right now are european. I'm not paying $70 for PEGI.

Why not emulate? PC games from that era often have more issues running on modern rigs than just emulating the console version and dealing with sound/grapical bugs that it may have.
