Apples and oranges, sperg.

You don't want to play RE, you just want to play shooters that vaguely hint at horror.
Weak rebuttal. You talk like one of those guys who believes that tank controls, prerendered backgrounds, and fixed cameras are what defined RE. That's no different than people who think a Mario game can't be a Mario game unless its a 2D side scroller. What defines RE is its genre: survival horror. "Horror" as in a game that is a horror story with horror elements. "Survival", as in a survival game where resources are limited, health is limited, your abilities are limited, and "surviving" is the paramount purpose of gameplay. Resident Evil is bigger than any one playstyle.

I agree for the most part, but people seem to not notice the series started moving toward action in the RE2-3 era. Although RE2 still had the air of the horror aspect where as RE3 definitely skirted that for more action. Although, I don't necessarily have a problem the direction they took with that. They were just trying to outdo the previous game by upping the ante.
I think there was another reason RE3 was more action-focused than it's predecessor; had it been the same, people would of complained that the series was getting stale.

I don’t see that as the case at all given RE2 was so well received. People wanted more of the same and we got something that outdid RE6 in action with a fraction of the content.

People did want more of the same, until they got CV. I remember people whining along the lines of "We've already played this!" and saying that the series was stale.

Then why was REmake beloved and sold a fuck load when remastered? The reason why that didn't sell well initially is because it was on GC.

CV has way more problems than just the same gameplay style, for the most part. Most people look at that and Zero as the Black Sheep of the series in terms of being slogs to play. Although CV has probably one of the best plots of the series.

Good Lord, this thread has become an autistic madhouse.

I generally prefer the old tank controls RE games, but some of the OTS games have merit, like the RE2 remake and RE4.

RE5 and RE6 can fuck off, though.

As much damage as RE4 did to the franchise as a whole in the long run, the gameplay was awesome as fuck and there's a reason why it got so much acclaim.

I just said that you fucking retard. Read it again.
You see, when you contextually phrase two questions in an entirely contradictory manner, it tends to throw people off.

Case in point:
Then why was REmake beloved and sold a fuck load when remastered?
The reason why that didn't sell well initially is because it was on GC.

When you phrase yourself in this fashion, your point comes across as rather incoherent.

Because we are. There is nothing new or exciting happening in the RE world. I personally, could give a fuck less about the RE4 remake because that's the game imo that started the franchise down it's "no longer survival horror" path.
That's where I'm at, RE4 doesn't even need to be remade IMO. Remakes are usually reserved for games that are only available on old platforms that most people [without emulating] wouldn't be able to play without original hardware. RE4 has been released on... pretty much every console I can think of, and PC. You can easily play it no matter what you have. Also the graphics really haven't aged that poorly, but I'm one of those assholes that stopped really caring about graphics after seventh gen because it looks good enough to me. And while RE4 is a good game, as you said, it started the series down that path. I thought they were course correcting a bit with RE2 remake but then they released half-assed RE3make and RE8 which I have zero interest in.

Between lycans and big tiddy vampire mommy milker memes I was tired of hearing about RE8 before it even fucking released, but I guess that marketing worked out for them.

The more I think about it, had Capcom not killed off their other action-horror series, then al lot of the over-the-top shit in the RE games likely would of never happened.

Well, some of it anyways. RE4 was still proto-Devil May Cry.

RE4 was also on GameCube first and it sold incredibly well, even compared to the PS2 version which had more content and was on a console with a larger install base. That's a completely shit argument.

It came out three years later on a system that didn’t have much to play on it and more people owned the console at that point. People forget the marketing campaign push that was behind it which was way more than REmake.

My argument is that why did it sell well then when it was rereleased if it’s hated?

The successfull REMake came out twelve years later when retro crap was at its peak. I don't think a huge amount of casuals have lusted for tank controlled fixed camera 90's style RE games between 2002 and 2014 and I really don't think Capcom lost out by not making RE in that style during that period.

Did it sell well or did it not sell well? You seem to be have some difficulty articulating that argument. I don't know why you keep going back to it.

Frankly speaking, the last time I actually had fun with RE was RE4VR.

It comes back to the reason 7 and 8 are such shit. They're not fun. Fear is subjective (though, for those who come in here and admit to being piss scared of low poly, ps1 zombies, you're pussies and might want to neck yourselves now.), but when literally the only thing in both games thats even uncomfortable is them going full outlast, taking away all inventory, turning off the lights, and throwing a jumpscare, instakill giant fetus at you, all you have left is the gameplay, which is fucking terrible in 7, and improved to just bad in 8. They're bad because they're boring. Edit: Not to mention, every single person in both games is unlikable trogs I'd prefer to die.

Meanwhile, while still not scary, going through RE4 in VR is a fucking blast. While I hate the rampant censorship (and one sided at that), nothing has hit the same rush of being surrounded by enemies and actually feeling intimidated since, well, 6 (actually, Rev2, but evidently, we're not counting side games) And I already told you faggots that you can ree and screech all you want, autism isn't an argument and won't change my mind.

Is RE4VR even attempting to be scary? Fuck no. Is noscoping enemies with the bolt action, and duel wielding a TMP and Punisher into a Gigante's rapidly approaching face a blast? Fuck yes.

Guess which one I care more about.

You love the version of RE4 designed around a control scheme that, by virtue of VR and motion controls, trivializes roughly 90% of the game's challenge and makes things like "being surrounded" a total joke unlike with the original versions' tank controls and point and aim controls.

I'm not saying you're wrong for enjoying a fun thing for being fun. My friend has extensively streamed RE4VR and even I think it looks fun, but it also looks piss fucking easy compared to the original due to the changes to specifically make the game functional in VR.

I am saying, however, that you have aggressively shit taste.

And that you're a gigantic fucking sperg because we get it already. You really fucking hate RE7 and 8. You've had people who completely agree with you. I don't know why you keep wanting to saw on and on about how much you hate RE7 and 8. Are you incapable of finding something else to talk about that doesn't involve you inevitably circling back to how much you hate RE7 and 8?

Nigger, what did I just say?

autism isn't an argument and won't change my mind.
Get a fucking hobby and stop obsessing over a scrooge on a forum of autists hating autists.
