Is there any way to ensure you don't get duplicates when trading in tokens for charms?

Edit: Also I get where your coming from with the typical Russian villain voice on Krauser. He may not have the accent per se but he does have the raspy serpent-like tone that is often paired with a Russian accent for eastern-european warlord type villains.
There's different token combos that give more of a chance with certain items but there's no full proof way to manipulate it.

I heard all the commotion about the awful VA for Ada but has anyone mentioned Krauser? Granted his VA at least sounds like he's trying (unlike Ada's) but the voice doesn't match the character at all. He sounds like a scrawny edgelord.
I'm surprised it got such a backlash. Yeah, the VA's terrible, but Ada's a terrible character.

I don't think Ada was ever "terrible." It's just her cardboard VA is abysmal so you end up hating her in the new one. I think her role in 4make is fine, her outfit sucks and her VA is the worst the series has ever had.
I'd argue that Capcom's VAs have mostly been terrible, especially in the 90s. But at least they're so bad they're good.
I think the earlier ones are fine since they were a product of the time. The games weren't ultra series and dark and I think they're fine up until RE6. REmake I think has wooden acting and it's probably the only real criticism I can give it since it's the dialogue from the first one, without the goofy cadence.

In the 90s there were only so many bytes that could be allocated for voice acting files, so they get a pass IMO.

Plus the Western side of Capcom gave us this gem
A sounding combination of Elmer Fudd and Peter Griffin

You don't remember the hate for her when 6 was released? That was the peak of her being shoved into everything.
6 is where she went full Mary Sue. I think the way she's handled in RE2R was a great improvement, but from what I hear they fucked it up in 4R, reverted to her badass superantihero girlboss version, added her to even more parts, and cut any of Leon's lines where he taunts or stands up to her.

Making the writing in the mainline series more confusing and idiotic, especially with the characters

I don't see how RE2R was any less "girlbossy" than RE4R remake's version, they even changed her cover story from looking for her boyfriend to being an FBI agent.

I don't. The only complaint I remember was people whining that she looked White.
Then you completely missed the Mary Sue accusations (as mentioned) and the complaints that the main villain of the game only exists because someone was horny for Ada.

She's not as tough as in the original, at least from how I remember it. I'm pretty sure she kills the Tyrant and is generally dismissive and callous to Leon in the original. Either way, it should be said the remake is dogshit by comparison, and even if old Ada was worse, I'd take her if it meant having the rest of the game the way it was.

The cut content and the totally gimped A/B mechanic, the jank with enemies constantly getting stuck or walking into walls, the characters swearing at parody levels and the writing in general, like the flanderization of Irons and the new grimderp Umbrella Orphanage, all of it left a really sour taste for me.

I hate that shit in that. I prefer her original portrayal being somewhat of a green agent that let her emotions get the best of her with Leon. It made her more interesting.

Nearly every character turned into a mary sue in 6.

They could of just combined the two. Have her looking for her boyfriend John, but some clues pop up that Ada isn't who she seems. Her cover gets kind of blown by Annette and so she switches to plan 'B' and flashes Leon the FBI badge and tells him that John is actually a mole working for them. Towards the end Leon gets some inklings that Ada isn't a fed either.

So why did everyone hate RE3 Remake? It was on sale so I picked it up and just finished it. Perfectly servicable game considering it's a remake of one of the weakest entries in the series.

It did genuinely cut out a lot of content, and significantly changed personalities of the main cast. While some of the changes are great, I will defend Petty Psychopath Nicolai to the death, "serviceable" isn't the level of quality people wanted after the RE2 remake.

I don't see anyone whining about a vague definition of "soul" to bring it down, at least.

I don't remember much of RE3, except that it was short as hell compared to the others and quite weak.

>You want S.T.A.R.S? I'll Give You S.T.A.R.S

Gee, what a great character. She's just one faggot word shy of sounding like a MW2 lobby squeaker.
That encapsulates the quality of r3make The characters are all wrong. Jill is an ungrateful, antagonistic cunt and the voice actress ought to be set on fire and then put out with with heavy mining equipment. I'm going to sound like a real mongoloid here but the OG RE female characters had a kind of warmth(?) to their characters. Claire kept hers, Jill just became a generic $CurrentYear girlboss.
They fucked up Nemesis and what made him such a bad motherfucker in the first place. We had the chance to have a massive, open Raccoon City and instead we got a linear series of corridors that boxed us in even further than the original. It was an issue with the original and they just made it worse. They could have improved the game in every way and instead settled for mediocrity. At least the original had an excuse because of the fucked up dev alongside CV.
And the hateful, shitty thing that all modern movies and games do: Big bad cunt grabs weaker protagonist and then decides to throw them instead of instagibbing them. Or the fact Nemesis blasts through walls like a fucking terminator but then can't break through a bookshelf to get her. It's such a massive disconnect.
Why did Carlos just turn up with a rocket launcher at the start? Because he needed one to look cool. That's acceptable in DMC games, not in RE games. It's meant to be survival horror not a showcase of normie humans dabbing on what is meant to be the biggest, baddest Tyrant that's ever been made

They cut out a lot and turned Jill into an insufferable girlboss. I still cringe when I remember "Bitch can't even swim." Sure, it's serviceable, but the weakest of the remakes by far.
