The only thing class changes is what you start with. Everything from the classes not picked are acquired from the vendors at start. You can switch classes as much as you want to no ill effect outside of experience going to the ones you have equipped. It's exactly like the first in that you probably will do everything and rerolls on the same character. Only real change is the account wide things in the past now are purchased and not gifted to you to make Hardcore runs, well, harder. Outside of Hardcore, the only reason for alt characters are coop. If you're playing with multiple people, it would be best to play on separate characters to keep power levels closer. That aside, how well do the classes gel as a whole, and is there room for single player, uh, play? A big part of what I liked in Remnant is being able to collect and level everything on one character. I hear the skill and passive limits here are kind of restrictive.
Chronos predates Remnant by a few years time and the protagonists of both are from the same world with the starting set in the first game referencing that. I never played Chronos but that was the events that set up Remnant with the Destroyer (the final boss of the base game) being the PC of Chronos who killed the Guardians of both the Labyrinth that allowed the Root to spread to other worlds and Yaesha's which is why they've been invaded. I may be messing up a few details since I don't do VR shit so didn't play Chronos. All the terminals in the locked section of the Ward hub in the first game were all 70s/80s tech computers and yeah, the whole thing was a Cold War project to stop the commies.Fun fact: the game actually takes place sometime around the 2080s; Chronos and Remnant took place in 2062, and Remnant 2 takes place two decades afterwards. The devs confirmed it on the Discord. The Root invaded roughly around 1968, I think.
Well, that answered my one big lore question on how the Root showed up. Weird psychic dream project to stop the Commies, someone opened the fucking door, and a hundred years later it finally almost won.Chronos predates Remnant by a few years time and the protagonists of both are from the same world with the starting set in the first game referencing that. Remnant 2 is literally just Remnant 1 with everything good expanded upon. Actual classes, more secrets, more areas, bigger maps, and more loot to make a build with.I do admit, I am just a bit interested in this game; Remnant 1 was one of my favorites, but from what I've seen so far on the second game, I'm not sure about making the purchase when I get the chance.

@11 Herbs and Spices Gunfire Games actually converted Chronos: Before the Ashes to a 3rd person melee focused adventure if you want to give it a try. Its kind of mediocre but fun in its own little way.
At least the gameplay sounds like it's going to be better overall; hell, in the original Remnant, half the fun was literally just wandering around Earth. For whatever reason, just being able to walk around this Earth despite how repetitive it got, never actually ceased to be fun; I can't explain it, but there was something that was just... timeless and relaxing about walking around, taking in the sights, no matter how much I saw them.
Ha ha, yeah. Once you find that sucker its realllllllllllllllllllllllllll hard to give it up. Makes any area/boss fight with mobs a cake walk.Ok, Enigma is a bullshit weapon. This almost isn't fun.
Handler is very good. Just having another body to keep aggro off of you is great but the dog also does okay damage and the passive effects and howls are fairly useful. Since you got N'Erud first you should hunt for Engineer to use. Its out in the poison mists in a little hidden spot along with its armor. It is also very powerful with a turret you can place but also pick up to use yourself as a heavy weapon. I got to the final boss as Hunter/Handler.Anyone have any suggestions on weaponry or Archetype yet? Not too far into the game as of yet - still on the first world, N'Erud - but I'm wondering which weapons and Archetypes I should try and keep an eye out for. Solo player, looking for a solid build.
Also, when do we get Adventure mode? I presume it's after each world is completed.

Weapons I feel are personal preference. I played through 90% of the game with a bow and the double barrel but I've been using the lmg on my co-op save and been enjoying it. I think the only weapon considered too good right now is the lightning gun you get in the second world.
And yes you get Adventure Mode for each world once you beat the World Boss on it.
Thanks for the info. I'm currently running the Medic Archetype - still don't have it to 10 yet - but when I get it up, I'll give Engineer a shot. Also got the Bonesaw for my primary, MP60-R for my secondary, and I'm planning on grabbing the Spectral Blade once I get the chance; might swap it for Edge of the Forest later, not sure.
Also thinking about grabbing the Double Barrel and Nightfall later on, once I get through Losom; don't know if they'll be my mains yet, but I've heard some good things about them. I do want to give the bows a shot as well. There's also a few Archetypes from later in the game that I'm looking at; looking forward to it!
I just wish that the classes were as good as dog class, like a passive + a basic + a hold that has the longass cooldown.Remnant 2 is literally just Remnant 1 with everything good expanded upon. Actual classes, more secrets, more areas, bigger maps, and more loot to make a build with.

What kind of amulets + rings are you using? Did you guys all at least have a second Archtype going with your primary? I mean it sounds like you guys pumped up your weapons a bit to hard to try to out race the content.Without spoiling, I don't know if I got a weird roll, if my friends are bad at the game, or something.
I've been having a rough go of it. I'm 9 hours in. Level 8. That rolling cube boss took ages for me to beat. The first world (the forest) seemed to go on forever and had 3 bosses back to back. I have found Clementine and the tutorial seems to be mostly over as it feels like the game has just opened up.
However, my friends were playing co-op, are 25 hours in, and have just reached the same point in the story and just hit level 10. Given that one of those friends 100%ed the first game I find it hard to imagine it's a skill issue.
