Haven't watched RCR in some time, so I decided to check in:
Once again, he's just straight up filming in the parking lot of what is clearly a furry convention or meetup of some kind (Aquatifur, probably?). This one really does just hit all the notes of what exactly is wrong with RCR and why so many people have lost interest.
- Unapologetically platforming furfags
- 20 minute video where he's just rambling and chatting and unironically making the exact same kind of video he was parodying in the early days
- Video is sponsored by some dude who sells JDM cars
- At least one reference to "fragile masculinity" because someone totally definitely actually got mad at the kei van and flipped them off which is something that almost certainly happened right before everyone on the train clapped
- Did you know he's gay? He's gay. Just so we're all clear, Brian is gay (homosexual).
The characters milling around in the background are more interesting than the video itself.
Can't have a modern RCR video without at least one tranny in it, I guess. Also that grey and green bird thing might be one of the ugliest fursuits I've ever seen, goddamn. Anyways, the next day he uploads this:
Two 1970s American land yachts, a Continental Town Car and a Cadillac Eldorado. Now that's my kind of shit. Unexpectedly based choice of vehicles for a furfag car meet and probably the only actual car reviews I'd still care to watch. The only other two proper fullsize cars of the era he's had in a video were the '69 Deville and the '70 Imperial reviews, both of which were 5+ years ago. But this being modern RCR, he ruins it. This video is
twenty eight goddamn minutes long and it consists of him basically chatting with the owners and taking each car for a short test drive. Trying to watch this is a fucking slog, man. He somehow managed to make a video about two of my personal dream cars boring to me. Oh, and there's some retard fursuiter in the backseat for no real reason in the Town Car ridealong.
Despite Mr. Regular's general weirdness and occasionally shit opinions, I don't think he'll ever reach full on lolcow status. Even with the furry shit, and the constant discussion of his homosexuality, and the random tranny that keeps showing up in recent videos, and the thousand other things, it's all just average cringe stuff.
I also want to revisit my first post in this thread from about a year ago. I still believe this, but I didn't do a good job of articulating why I feel this way.
At one point in time, RCR meant a lot to me. I relate a lot to what
@Yamamura said because he's the type of online personality who I have some kind of intrinsic understanding with. He's the sort of guy where I just sort of
get what makes him tick, y'know? He really was a big deal to a lot of us in the early years because his content scratched an itch a lot of car retards didn't even know they had. His early reviews were something truly unique and there's still yet to be a contemporary analogue for them.
So seeing what he's up to nowadays, and what's become of his content and platform, isn't really funny or entertaining. It's sad. It's boring. The reason he doesn't make a good lolcow is because there are no "lol"s to be had. He's reached a point where he's arguably worse than a lolcow: he's just flat out not entertaining anymore. What am I gonna do, watch every boring-ass 25 minute video to point out every time he says he's gay? Mention whenever he complains about boomers or kids he went to high school with? Repost every video where he's wearing a fursuit? No. No, I'm not gonna do that. Nobody is.
He's fucking up his content, he's alienating his audience, and he's purposefully incorporating furries into his identity for no real reason. But the collapse has been so protracted and so boring that nobody feels like sticking around to watch it happen. It's why his car reviews struggle to even crack 100k views nowadays, and even 50k is no longer a given. It's why nobody's posting in this thread. He won't be a lolcow simply because nobody cares enough to view him as one.
