That’s exactly what it is, well said. They don’t actually have discussions. There’s no curiosity, no give and take, no benefit of the doubt for the sake of having a fun and interesting conversation. If they identify you as a potential wrongthinker, anything you say will be interpreted in the least charitable way possible. Where’s the fucking fun in that? It’s a miserable and pathetic way to engage with other people (assuming they are actual people in the first place).
