The post, to start. I cannot highlight enough he states that the country has run out of fuel completely, which was even stated by the Cuban government through a NOTAM at the time. No fuel/food/medicine. Keep this in mind as you read. He even states himself all of the prepping advice is for the first world and he can only dream of some of these things. The situation there is dire, even months ago.
First, sorting by top rated comments, we have some sanity, someone living in reality and not a heccin' Marvel movie. But it wasn't long until a response gets removed, likely due to descending into politics about Venezuela vs. Cuba conditions based on it's replies.
But then the next highest upvoted comment tells him to... charge his devices, clean his house, and expose his clothes to UV rays known to degrade and wear out fabrics? And in response to this comment, don't forget your local cuban library! Don't forget shoes and a knife and bug repellent, sun screen, and maybe even get a book on knots! The situation is dire but use your local library to learn about knots. Your cuban library, known for survivalist guides and NOT state propaganda.
Oh, and don't forget tobacco, in one of the most plentiful tobacco producers in the world. Alcohol always too. Tampons! Condoms! INSANELY useful! Plug your gunshots and bloody nose! Just order them from Amazon, or something. What do you mean you can't?
Enlist the shrimping navy to come help you! Whore out your women, they will loooooove the shrimp!
Get your camping gear from the local camping stores in Havana!
Literally just leave. Can’t believe the OP didn’t think of this.
Finally a voice of actual reason that understands the situation. Keep in mind, the shrimping navy post was upvoted higher than this. By the prepping community.
Anyways, now that we've had some actual reasonable advice, I wonder if the Cuban poster has considered... his local office store? At least they added some spanish at the end for inclusivity purposes.
And finally, some inevitable Life Straw comments, the holy grail of r/preppers
There's so much more but I had to stop because otherwise this post would never end. Here's your reminder to never ask for prepping advice from Redditors that never leave their apartment.
